Genesis 9

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, 'Breed, multiply and fil the earth.	1 Dios bendijo a Noé y a sus hijos, y les dijo: «Sed fecundos, multiplicaos y llenad la tierra.
2 Be the terror and the dread of al the animals on land and al the birds of heaven, of everything thatmoves on land and all the fish of the sea; they are placed in your hands.	2 Infundiréis temor y miedo a todos los animales de la tierra, y a todas las aves del cielo, y a todo lo que repta por el suelo, y a todos los peces del mar; quedan a vuestra disposición.
3 Every living thing that moves wil be yours to eat, no less than the foliage of the plants. I give youeverything,	3 Todo lo que se mueve y tiene vida os servirá de alimento: todo os lo doy, lo mismo que os di la hierba verde.
4 with this exception: you must not eat flesh with life, that is to say blood, in it.	4 Sólo dejaréis de comer la carne con su alma, es decir, con su sangre,
5 And I shal demand account of your life-blood, too. I shall demand it of every animal, and of man. Ofman as regards his fel ow-man, I shal demand account for human life.	5 y yo os prometo reclamar vuestra propia sangre: la reclamaré a todo animal y al hombre: a todos y a cada uno reclamaré el alma humana.
6 He who sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for in the image of God was mancreated.	6 Quien vertiere sangre de hombre, por otro hombre será su sangre vertida, porque a imagen de Dios hizo El al hombre.
7 Be fruitful then and multiply, teem over the earth and subdue it!'	7 Vosotros, pues, sed fecundos y multiplicaos; pululad en la tierra y dominad en ella.»
8 God spoke as fol ows to Noah and his sons,	8 Dijo Dios a Noé y a sus hijos con él:
9 'I am now establishing my covenant with you and with your descendants to come,	9 «He aquí que yo establezco mi alianza con vosotros, y con vuestra futura descendencia,
10 and with every living creature that was with you: birds, cattle and every wild animal with you;everything that came out of the ark, every living thing on earth.	10 y con toda alma viviente que os acompaña: las aves, los ganados y todas las alimañas que hay con vosotros, con todo lo que ha salido del arca, todos los animales de la tierra.
11 And I shal maintain my covenant with you: that never again shal all living things be destroyed by thewaters of a flood, nor shal there ever again be a flood to devastate the earth.'	11 Establezco mi alianza con vosotros, y no volverá nunca más a ser aniquilada toda carne por las aguas del diluvio, ni habrá más diluvio para destruir la tierra.»
12 'And this', God said, 'is the sign of the covenant which I now make between myself and you and everyliving creature with you for al ages to come:	12 Dijo Dios: «Esta es la señal de la alianza que para las generaciones perpetuas pongo entre yo y vosotros y toda alma viviente que os acompaña:
13 I now set my bow in the clouds and it wil be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.	13 Pongo mi arco en las nubes, y servirá de señal de la alianza entre yo y la tierra.
14 When I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds,	14 Cuando yo anuble de nubes la tierra, entonces se verá el arco en las nubes,
15 I shal recall the covenant between myself and you and every living creature, in a word al living things,and never again will the waters become a flood to destroy al living things.	15 y me acordaré de la alianza que media entre yo y vosotros y toda alma viviente, toda carne, y no habrá más aguas diluviales para exterminar toda carne.
16 When the bow is in the clouds I shall see it and call to mind the eternal covenant between God andevery living creature on earth, that is, al living things.'	16 Pues en cuanto esté el arco en las nubes, yo lo veré para recordar la alianza perpetua entre Dios y toda alma viviente, toda carne que existe sobre la tierra.»
17 'That', God told Noah, 'is the sign of the covenant I have established between myself and al livingthings on earth.'	17 Y dijo Dios a Noé: «Esta es la señal de la alianza que he establecido entre yo y toda carne que existe sobre la tierra.»
18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth-Ham being the father ofCanaan.	18 Los hijos de Noé que salieron del arca eran Sem, Cam y Jafet. Cam es el padre de Canaán.
19 These three were Noah's sons, and from these the whole earth was peopled.	19 Estos tres fueron los hijos de Noé, y a partir de ellos se pobló toda la tierra.
20 Noah, a til er of the soil, was the first to plant the vine.	20 Noé se dedicó a la labranza y plantó una viña.
21 He drank some of the wine, and while he was drunk, he lay uncovered in his tent.	21 Bebió del vino, se embriagó, y quedó desnudo en medio de su tienda.
22 Ham, father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside.	22 Vio Cam, padre de Canaán, la desnudez de su padre, y avisó a sus dos hermanos
23 Shem and Japheth took a cloak and they both put it over their shoulders, and walking backwards,covered their father's nakedness; they kept their faces turned away, and they did not look at their father naked.	23 Entonces Sem y Jafet tomaron el manto, se lo echaron al hombro los dos, y andando hacia atrás, vueltas las caras, cubrieron la desnudez de su padre sin verla.
24 When Noah awoke from his stupor he learned what his youngest son had done to him,	24 Cuando despertó Noé de su embriaguez y supo lo que había hecho con él su hijo menor,
25 and said: Accursed be Canaan, he shal be his brothers' meanest slave.	25 dijo: «¡Maldito sea Canaán! ¡Siervo de siervos sea para sus hermanos!»
26 He added: Blessed be Yahweh, God of Shem, let Canaan be his slave!	26 Y dijo: «¡Bendito sea Yahveh, el Dios de Sem, y sea Canaán esclavo suyo!
27 May God make space for Japheth, may he live in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his slave!	27 ¡Haga Dios dilatado a Jafet; habite en las tiendas de Sem, y sea Canaán esclavo suyo!»
28 After the flood Noah lived three hundred and fifty years.	28 Vivió Noé después del diluvio 350 años.
29 In al , Noah's life lasted nine hundred and fifty years; then he died.	29 El total de los días de Noé fue de 950 años, y murió.
