Genesis 9

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, 'Breed, multiply and fil the earth.	1 Entonces Dios bendijo a Noé y a sus hijos, diciéndoles: «Sean fecundos, multiplíquense y llenen la tierra.
2 Be the terror and the dread of al the animals on land and al the birds of heaven, of everything thatmoves on land and all the fish of the sea; they are placed in your hands.	2 Ante ustedes sentirán temor a todos los animales de la tierra y todos los pájaros del cielo, todo lo que se mueve por el suelo, y todos los peces del mar: ellos han sido puestos en manos de ustedes.
3 Every living thing that moves wil be yours to eat, no less than the foliage of the plants. I give youeverything,	3 Todo lo que se mueve y tiene vida les servirá de alimento; yo les doy todo eso como antes les di los vegetales.
4 with this exception: you must not eat flesh with life, that is to say blood, in it.	4 Sólo se abstendrán de comer la carne con su vida, es decir, con su sangre.
5 And I shal demand account of your life-blood, too. I shall demand it of every animal, and of man. Ofman as regards his fel ow-man, I shal demand account for human life.	5 Y yo pediré cuenta de la sangre de cada uno de ustedes: pediré cuenta de ella a todos los animales, y también pediré cuenta al hombre de la vida de su prójimo.
6 He who sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for in the image of God was mancreated.	6 Otro hombre derramará la sangre de aquel que derrame sangre humana, porque el hombre ha sido creado a imagen de Dios.
7 Be fruitful then and multiply, teem over the earth and subdue it!'	7 Ustedes, por su parte, sean fecundos y multiplíquense, llenen la tierra y domínenla».
8 God spoke as fol ows to Noah and his sons,	8 Y Dios siguió diciendo a Noé y a sus hijos:
9 'I am now establishing my covenant with you and with your descendants to come,	9 «Además, yo establezco mi alianza con ustedes, con sus descendientes,
10 and with every living creature that was with you: birds, cattle and every wild animal with you;everything that came out of the ark, every living thing on earth.	10 y con todos los seres vivientes que están con ustedes: con los pájaros, el ganado y las fieras salvajes; con todos los animales que salieron del arca, en una palabra, con todos los seres vivientes que hay en la tierra.
11 And I shal maintain my covenant with you: that never again shal all living things be destroyed by thewaters of a flood, nor shal there ever again be a flood to devastate the earth.'	11 Yo estableceré mi alianza con ustedes: los mortales ya no volverán a ser exterminados por las aguas del Diluvio, ni habrá otro Diluvio para devastar la tierra».
12 'And this', God said, 'is the sign of the covenant which I now make between myself and you and everyliving creature with you for al ages to come:	12 Dios añadió: «Este será el signo de la alianza que establezco con ustedes, y con todos los seres vivientes que los acompañan, para todos los tiempos futuros:
13 I now set my bow in the clouds and it wil be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.	13 yo pongo mi arco en las nubes, como un signo de mi alianza con la tierra.
14 When I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds,	14 Cuando cubra de nubes la tierra y aparezca mi arco entre ellas,
15 I shal recall the covenant between myself and you and every living creature, in a word al living things,and never again will the waters become a flood to destroy al living things.	15 me acordaré de mi alianza con ustedes y con todos los seres vivientes, y no volverán a precipitarse las aguas del Diluvio para destruir a los mortales.
16 When the bow is in the clouds I shall see it and call to mind the eternal covenant between God andevery living creature on earth, that is, al living things.'	16 Al aparecer mi arco en las nubes, yo lo veré y me acordaré de mi alianza eterna con todos los seres vivientes que hay sobre la tierra.
17 'That', God told Noah, 'is the sign of the covenant I have established between myself and al livingthings on earth.'	17 Este, dijo Dios a Noé, es el signo de la alianza que establecí con todos los mortales».
18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth-Ham being the father ofCanaan.	18 Los hijos de Noé que salieron del arca fueron Sem, Cam y Jafet. Cam es el padre de Canaán.
19 These three were Noah's sons, and from these the whole earth was peopled.	19 A partir de estos tres hijos de Noé, se pobló toda la tierra.
20 Noah, a til er of the soil, was the first to plant the vine.	20 Noé se dedicó a la agricultura y fue el primero que plantó una viña.
21 He drank some of the wine, and while he was drunk, he lay uncovered in his tent.	21 Pero cuando bebió vino, se embriagó y quedó tendido en medio de su carpa, completamente desnudo.
22 Ham, father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside.	22 Cam, el padre de Canaán, al ver a su padre desnudo, fue a contárselo a sus hermanos, que estaban afuera.
23 Shem and Japheth took a cloak and they both put it over their shoulders, and walking backwards,covered their father's nakedness; they kept their faces turned away, and they did not look at their father naked.	23 Entonces Sem y Jafet tomaron un manto, se lo pusieron los dos sobre la espalda y, caminando hacia atrás, cubrieron la desnudez de su padre. Como sus rostros miraban en sentido contrario, no vieron a su padre desnudo.
24 When Noah awoke from his stupor he learned what his youngest son had done to him,	24 Cuando Noé despertó de su embriaguez y se enteró de lo que había hecho su hijo menor,
25 and said: Accursed be Canaan, he shal be his brothers' meanest slave.	25 dijo: «¡Maldito sea Canaán! El será para sus hermanos el último de los esclavos».
26 He added: Blessed be Yahweh, God of Shem, let Canaan be his slave!	26 Y agregó: «Bendito sea el Señor, Dios de Sem, y que Canaán sea su esclavo.
27 May God make space for Japheth, may he live in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his slave!	27 Que Dios abra camino a Jafet, para que habite entre los campamentos de Sem; y que Canaán sea su esclavo».
28 After the flood Noah lived three hundred and fifty years.	28 Después del Diluvio, Noé vivió trescientos cincuenta años,
29 In al , Noah's life lasted nine hundred and fifty years; then he died.	29 y en total, vivió novecientos cincuenta años. Al cabo de ellos, murió.
