Genesis 9

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, 'Breed, multiply and fil the earth.	1 Poi Dio benedisse Noè e i suoi figlioli, e disse loro: "Siate fecondi e moltiplicatevi e riempite la terra.
2 Be the terror and the dread of al the animals on land and al the birds of heaven, of everything thatmoves on land and all the fish of the sea; they are placed in your hands.	2 Il timore di voi e il terrore di voi sia in tutte le fiere della terra, in tutti i volatili del cielo. Tutto ciò che striscia sul suolo e tutti i pesci del mare sono dati in vostro potere.
3 Every living thing that moves wil be yours to eat, no less than the foliage of the plants. I give youeverything,	3 Ogni essere che si muove e ha vita sarà vostro cibo; tutto questo vi do, come già l'erba verde.
4 with this exception: you must not eat flesh with life, that is to say blood, in it.	4 Soltanto non mangerete la carne che ha in sé il suo sangue.
5 And I shal demand account of your life-blood, too. I shall demand it of every animal, and of man. Ofman as regards his fel ow-man, I shal demand account for human life.	5 Certamente del sangue vostro, ossia della vita vostra, io domanderò conto: ne domanderò conto ad ogni animale; della vita dell'uomo io domanderò conto alla mano dell'uomo, alla mano d'ogni suo fratello!
6 He who sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for in the image of God was mancreated.	6 Chi sparge il sangue di un uomo, per mezzo di un uomo il suo sangue sarà sparso; perché quale immagine di Dio ha Egli fatto l'uomo.
7 Be fruitful then and multiply, teem over the earth and subdue it!'	7 Quanto a voi, siate fecondi e moltiplicatevi; brulicate sulla terra e soggiogatela".
8 God spoke as fol ows to Noah and his sons,	8 Poi Dio disse a Noè e ai suoi figlioli:
9 'I am now establishing my covenant with you and with your descendants to come,	9 "Quanto a me, ecco che io stabilisco la mia alleanza con voi e con la vostra progenie dopo di voi,
10 and with every living creature that was with you: birds, cattle and every wild animal with you;everything that came out of the ark, every living thing on earth.	10 e con ogni essere vivente che è con voi: con i volatili, con il bestiame e con tutte le fiere della terra che sono con voi, da tutti gli animali che sono usciti dall'arca a tutte le fiere della terra.
11 And I shal maintain my covenant with you: that never again shal all living things be destroyed by thewaters of a flood, nor shal there ever again be a flood to devastate the earth.'	11 Io stabilisco la mia alleanza con voi, che non sarà più distrutta alcuna carne a causa delle acque del diluvio, né più verrà il diluvio a sconvolgere la terra".
12 'And this', God said, 'is the sign of the covenant which I now make between myself and you and everyliving creature with you for al ages to come:	12 Poi Dio disse: "Questo è il segno dell'alleanza che io pongo tra me e voi e ogni essere vivente che è con voi, per tutte le generazioni future:
13 I now set my bow in the clouds and it wil be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.	13 io pongo il mio arco nelle nubi, ed esso sarà un segno di alleanza fra me e la terra.
14 When I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds,	14 E quando io accumulerò le nubi sopra la terra e apparirà l'arco nelle nubi,
15 I shal recall the covenant between myself and you and every living creature, in a word al living things,and never again will the waters become a flood to destroy al living things.	15 allora mi ricorderò della mia alleanza, la quale sussiste tra me e voi ed ogni anima vivente in qualsiasi carne e le acque non diverranno mai più un diluvio per distruggere ogni carne.
16 When the bow is in the clouds I shall see it and call to mind the eternal covenant between God andevery living creature on earth, that is, al living things.'	16 L'arco apparirà nelle nubi e io lo guarderò per ricordare l'alleanza eterna tra Dio e ogni anima vivente in ogni carne che vi è sulla terra".
17 'That', God told Noah, 'is the sign of the covenant I have established between myself and al livingthings on earth.'	17 Poi Dio disse a Noè: "Questo è il segno dell'alleanza che io ho stabilito tra me e ogni carne che vi è sulla terra".
18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth-Ham being the father ofCanaan.	18 I figli di Noè che uscirono dall'arca furono: Sem, Cam e Iafet; e Cam è il padre di Canaan.
19 These three were Noah's sons, and from these the whole earth was peopled.	19 Questi tre sono i figlioli di Noè, e da questi fu popolata tutta la terra.
20 Noah, a til er of the soil, was the first to plant the vine.	20 Or Noè incominciò a far l'agricoltore e piantò una vigna.
21 He drank some of the wine, and while he was drunk, he lay uncovered in his tent.	21 Bevuto del vino, si inebriò e si scoprì in mezzo alla sua tenda.
22 Ham, father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside.	22 Or Cam, padre di Canaan, vide la nudità del padre suo e uscì a dirlo ai suoi due fratelli.
23 Shem and Japheth took a cloak and they both put it over their shoulders, and walking backwards,covered their father's nakedness; they kept their faces turned away, and they did not look at their father naked.	23 Allora Sem e Iafet presero il mantello, se lo misero ambedue sulle spalle e, camminando a ritroso, coprirono la nudità del loro padre: e siccome avevano le loro facce rivolte dalla parte opposta, non videro la nudità del loro padre.
24 When Noah awoke from his stupor he learned what his youngest son had done to him,	24 Quando Noè, risvegliatosi dalla sua ebbrezza, seppe quanto gli aveva fatto il suo figliolo minore,
25 and said: Accursed be Canaan, he shal be his brothers' meanest slave.	25 disse: "Sia maledetto Canaan! Sia schiavo infimo dei fratelli suoi".
26 He added: Blessed be Yahweh, God of Shem, let Canaan be his slave!	26 Disse poi: "Benedetto sia il Signore, Dio di Sem! Ma sia Canaan suo schiavo!
27 May God make space for Japheth, may he live in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his slave!	27 Dio dilati Iafet e dimori nelle tende di Sem! Ma sia Canaan suo schiavo!".
28 After the flood Noah lived three hundred and fifty years.	28 Noè visse, dopo il diluvio, trecentocinquant'anni.
29 In al , Noah's life lasted nine hundred and fifty years; then he died.	29 E l'intera vita di Noè fu di novecentocinquant'anni, poi morì.
