¹ "Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.	¹ Então será semelhante o reino dos céus a dez virgens, que, tomando as suas lâmpadas, saíram ao encontro do esposo.
² Five of them were foolish and five were wise.	² Cinco delas eram loucas, e cinco prudentes.
³ The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them,	³ As cinco loucas, tomando as lâmpadas, não levaram azeite consigo;
⁴ but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps.	⁴ as prudentes, porém, levaram azeite nos seus vasos juntamente com as lâmpadas.
⁵ Since the bridegroom was long delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.	⁵ Tardando o esposo, começaram a toscanejar todas, e adormeceram.
⁶ At midnight, there was a cry, 'Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!'	⁶ À meia-noite, ouviu-se um clamor: Eis que vem o esposo. Saí ao seu encontro.
⁷ Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps.	⁷ Então levantaram-se todas aquelas virgens, e prepararam as suas lâmpadas.
⁸ The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'	⁸ As loucas disseram às prudentes: Dai-nos do vosso azeite, porque as nossas lámpadas apagam-se.
⁹ But the wise ones replied, 'No, for there may not be enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.'	⁹ As prudentes responderam: Para que não suceda faltar-nos ele a nós e a vós, ide antes aos que o vendem, e comprai para vós.
¹⁰ While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. Then the door was locked.	¹⁰ Mas, enquanto elas foram comprá-lo, chegou o esposo, e as que estavam preparadas entraram com ele a celebrar as bodas, e foi fechada a porta.
¹¹ Afterwards the other virgins came and said, 'Lord, Lord, open the door for us!'	¹¹ Mais tarde, chegaram também as outras virgens, dizendo: Senhor, Senhor, abre-nos!
¹² But he said in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.'	¹² Ele, porém, respondeu: Na verdade vos digo que não vos conheço.
¹³ Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.	¹³ Vigiai, pois, porque não sabeis o dia nem a hora.
¹⁴ "It will be as when a man who was going on a journey called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them.	¹⁴ Será também como um homem que, estando para empreender uma viagem, chamou os seus servos, e lhes entregou os seus bens.
¹⁵ To one he gave five talents; to another, two; to a third, one--to each according to his ability. Then he went away. Immediately	¹⁵ Deu a um cinco talentos, a outro dois, a outro um, a cada um, segundo a sua capacidade, e partiu.
¹⁶ the one who received five talents went and traded with them, and made another five.	¹⁶ Logo em seguida, o que tinha recebido cinco talentos foi, negociou com eles, e ganhou outros cinco.
¹⁷ Likewise, the one who received two made another two.	¹⁷ Da mesma sorte o que tinha recebido dois, ganhou outros dois.
¹⁸ But the man who received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and buried his master's money.	¹⁸ Mas o que tinha recebido um só, foi fazer uma cova na terra, e nela escondeu o dinheiro do seu senhor.
¹⁹ After a long time the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with them.	¹⁹ Muito tempo depois, voltou o senhor daqueles servos, e chamou-os a contas.
²⁰ The one who had received five talents came forward bringing the additional five. He said, 'Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have made five more.'	²⁰ Aproximando-se o que tinha recebido cinco talentos, apresentou-lhe outros cinco, dizendo: Senhor, tu entregaste-me cinco talentos, eis outros cinco que lucrei.
²¹ His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy.'	²¹ Sou senhor disse-Ihe: Está bem, servo bom e fiel, já que foste fiel em poucas coisas, dar-te-ei a intendência de muitas; entra no gozo de teu senhor.
²² (Then) the one who had received two talents also came forward and said, 'Master, you gave me two talents. See, I have made two more.'	²² Apresentou-se também o que tinha recebido dois talentos, e disse: Senhor, entregaste-me dois talentos, eis que lucrei outros dois.
²³ His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy.'	²³ Seu senhor disse-lhe: Está bem, servo bom e fiel, já que foste fiel em poucas coisas, dar-te-ei a intendência de muitas; entra no gozo de teu senhor.
²⁴ Then the one who had received the one talent came forward and said, 'Master, I knew you were a demanding person, harvesting where you did not plant and gathering where you did not scatter;	²⁴ Apresentando-se também o que tinha recebido um só talento, disse: Senhor, sei que és um homem austero, que colhes onde não semeaste, e recolhes onde não espalhaste.
²⁵ so out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground. Here it is back.'	²⁵ Tive receio e fui esconder o teu talento na terra; eis o que é teu.
²⁶ His master said to him in reply, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I did not plant and gather where I did not scatter?	²⁶ Então, o seu senhor disse-lhe: Servo mau e preguiçoso, sabias que eu colho onde não semeei, e que recolho onde não espalhei.
²⁷ Should you not then have put my money in the bank so that I could have got it back with interest on my return?	²⁷ Devias pois dar o meu dinheiro aos banqueiros, e, à minha volta, eu teria recebido certamente com juro o que era meu.
²⁸ Now then! Take the talent from him and give it to the one with ten.	²⁸ Tirai-lhe pois o talento, e dai-o ao que tem dez talentos.
²⁹ For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.	²⁹ Porque ao que tem, der-se-lhe-á, e terá em abundância; mas ao que não tem, tirar-se-lhe-á até o que julga ter.
³⁰ And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'	³⁰ E a esse servo inútil lançai-o nas trevas exteriores; ali haverá pranto e ranger de dentes.
³¹ "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne,	³¹ Quando, pois, vier o Filho do homem na sua majestade, e todos os anjos com ele, então se sentará sobre o trono de sua majestade.
³² and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.	³² Todas as nações serão congregadas diante dele, e separará uns dos outros, como o pastor separa as ovelhas dos cabritos.
³³ He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.	³³ E porá as ovelhas à sua direita, e os cabritos à esquerda.
³⁴ Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.	³⁴ Então o Rei dirá aos que estiverem à sua direita: Vinde, benditos de meu Pai, possuí o reino que vos está preparado desde a criação do mundo,
³⁵ For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me,	³⁵ porque tive fome, e destes-me de comer; tive sede, e destes-me de beber; era peregrino, e recolhestes-me;
³⁶ naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.'	³⁶ nu, e me vestistes; enfermo, e me visitastes; estava na prisão, e fostes visitar-me,
³⁷ Then the righteous will answer him and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?	³⁷ Então, os justos, lhe responderão: Senhor, quando é que nós te vimos faminto, e te demos de comer; sequioso, e te demos de beber?
³⁸ When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?	³⁸ Quando te vimos peregrino, e te recolhemos; nu, e te vestimos?
³⁹ When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?'	³⁹ Ou quando té vimos enfermo, ou na prisão, e fomos visitar-te?
⁴⁰ And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.'	⁴⁰ O Rei, respondendo, lhes dirá: Na verdade vos digo que todas as vezes que vós fizestes isto a um destes meus irmãos mais pequeninos, a mim o fizestes.
⁴¹ Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.	⁴¹ Em seguida, dirá aos que estiverem à esquerda: Apartai-vos de mim, malditos, para o fogo eterno, que foi preparado para o demônio e para os seus anjos;
⁴² For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,	⁴² porque tive fome, e não me destes de comer; tive sede, e não me destes de beber;
⁴³ a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.'	⁴³ era peregrino, e não me recolhestes; estava nu, e não me vestistes; enfermo e na prisão, e não me visitastes.
⁴⁴ Then they will answer and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?'	⁴⁴ Então, eles, também responderão: Senhor, quando é que nós te vimos faminto ou sequioso, ou peregrino, ou nu, ou enfermo, ou na prisão, e não te assistimos?
⁴⁵ He will answer them, 'Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.'	⁴⁵ E lhes responderá: Na verdade vos digo : Todas as vezes que o não fizestes a um destes mais pequeninos, a mim o não fizestes.
⁴⁶ And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."	⁴⁶ E esses irão para o suplício eterno; e os justos para a vida eterna."
