1 "Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.	1 Então será semelhante o reino dos céus a dez virgens, que, tomando as suas lâmpadas, saíram ao encontro do esposo.
2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise.	2 Cinco delas eram loucas, e cinco prudentes.
3 The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them,	3 As cinco loucas, tomando as lâmpadas, não levaram azeite consigo;
4 but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps.	4 as prudentes, porém, levaram azeite nos seus vasos juntamente com as lâmpadas.
5 Since the bridegroom was long delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.	5 Tardando o esposo, começaram a toscanejar todas, e adormeceram.
6 At midnight, there was a cry, 'Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!'	6 À meia-noite, ouviu-se um clamor: Eis que vem o esposo. Saí ao seu encontro.
7 Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps.	7 Então levantaram-se todas aquelas virgens, e prepararam as suas lâmpadas.
8 The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'	8 As loucas disseram às prudentes: Dai-nos do vosso azeite, porque as nossas lámpadas apagam-se.
9 But the wise ones replied, 'No, for there may not be enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.'	9 As prudentes responderam: Para que não suceda faltar-nos ele a nós e a vós, ide antes aos que o vendem, e comprai para vós.
10 While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. Then the door was locked.	10 Mas, enquanto elas foram comprá-lo, chegou o esposo, e as que estavam preparadas entraram com ele a celebrar as bodas, e foi fechada a porta.
11 Afterwards the other virgins came and said, 'Lord, Lord, open the door for us!'	11 Mais tarde, chegaram também as outras virgens, dizendo: Senhor, Senhor, abre-nos!
12 But he said in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.'	12 Ele, porém, respondeu: Na verdade vos digo que não vos conheço.
13 Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.	13 Vigiai, pois, porque não sabeis o dia nem a hora.
14 "It will be as when a man who was going on a journey called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them.	14 Será também como um homem que, estando para empreender uma viagem, chamou os seus servos, e lhes entregou os seus bens.
15 To one he gave five talents; to another, two; to a third, one--to each according to his ability. Then he went away. Immediately	15 Deu a um cinco talentos, a outro dois, a outro um, a cada um, segundo a sua capacidade, e partiu.
16 the one who received five talents went and traded with them, and made another five.	16 Logo em seguida, o que tinha recebido cinco talentos foi, negociou com eles, e ganhou outros cinco.
17 Likewise, the one who received two made another two.	17 Da mesma sorte o que tinha recebido dois, ganhou outros dois.
18 But the man who received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and buried his master's money.	18 Mas o que tinha recebido um só, foi fazer uma cova na terra, e nela escondeu o dinheiro do seu senhor.
19 After a long time the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with them.	19 Muito tempo depois, voltou o senhor daqueles servos, e chamou-os a contas.
20 The one who had received five talents came forward bringing the additional five. He said, 'Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have made five more.'	20 Aproximando-se o que tinha recebido cinco talentos, apresentou-lhe outros cinco, dizendo: Senhor, tu entregaste-me cinco talentos, eis outros cinco que lucrei.
21 His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy.'	21 Sou senhor disse-Ihe: Está bem, servo bom e fiel, já que foste fiel em poucas coisas, dar-te-ei a intendência de muitas; entra no gozo de teu senhor.
22 (Then) the one who had received two talents also came forward and said, 'Master, you gave me two talents. See, I have made two more.'	22 Apresentou-se também o que tinha recebido dois talentos, e disse: Senhor, entregaste-me dois talentos, eis que lucrei outros dois.
23 His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy.'	23 Seu senhor disse-lhe: Está bem, servo bom e fiel, já que foste fiel em poucas coisas, dar-te-ei a intendência de muitas; entra no gozo de teu senhor.
24 Then the one who had received the one talent came forward and said, 'Master, I knew you were a demanding person, harvesting where you did not plant and gathering where you did not scatter;	24 Apresentando-se também o que tinha recebido um só talento, disse: Senhor, sei que és um homem austero, que colhes onde não semeaste, e recolhes onde não espalhaste.
25 so out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground. Here it is back.'	25 Tive receio e fui esconder o teu talento na terra; eis o que é teu.
26 His master said to him in reply, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I did not plant and gather where I did not scatter?	26 Então, o seu senhor disse-lhe: Servo mau e preguiçoso, sabias que eu colho onde não semeei, e que recolho onde não espalhei.
27 Should you not then have put my money in the bank so that I could have got it back with interest on my return?	27 Devias pois dar o meu dinheiro aos banqueiros, e, à minha volta, eu teria recebido certamente com juro o que era meu.
28 Now then! Take the talent from him and give it to the one with ten.	28 Tirai-lhe pois o talento, e dai-o ao que tem dez talentos.
29 For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.	29 Porque ao que tem, der-se-lhe-á, e terá em abundância; mas ao que não tem, tirar-se-lhe-á até o que julga ter.
30 And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'	30 E a esse servo inútil lançai-o nas trevas exteriores; ali haverá pranto e ranger de dentes.
31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne,	31 Quando, pois, vier o Filho do homem na sua majestade, e todos os anjos com ele, então se sentará sobre o trono de sua majestade.
32 and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.	32 Todas as nações serão congregadas diante dele, e separará uns dos outros, como o pastor separa as ovelhas dos cabritos.
33 He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.	33 E porá as ovelhas à sua direita, e os cabritos à esquerda.
34 Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.	34 Então o Rei dirá aos que estiverem à sua direita: Vinde, benditos de meu Pai, possuí o reino que vos está preparado desde a criação do mundo,
35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me,	35 porque tive fome, e destes-me de comer; tive sede, e destes-me de beber; era peregrino, e recolhestes-me;
36 naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.'	36 nu, e me vestistes; enfermo, e me visitastes; estava na prisão, e fostes visitar-me,
37 Then the righteous will answer him and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?	37 Então, os justos, lhe responderão: Senhor, quando é que nós te vimos faminto, e te demos de comer; sequioso, e te demos de beber?
38 When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?	38 Quando te vimos peregrino, e te recolhemos; nu, e te vestimos?
39 When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?'	39 Ou quando té vimos enfermo, ou na prisão, e fomos visitar-te?
40 And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.'	40 O Rei, respondendo, lhes dirá: Na verdade vos digo que todas as vezes que vós fizestes isto a um destes meus irmãos mais pequeninos, a mim o fizestes.
41 Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.	41 Em seguida, dirá aos que estiverem à esquerda: Apartai-vos de mim, malditos, para o fogo eterno, que foi preparado para o demônio e para os seus anjos;
42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,	42 porque tive fome, e não me destes de comer; tive sede, e não me destes de beber;
43 a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.'	43 era peregrino, e não me recolhestes; estava nu, e não me vestistes; enfermo e na prisão, e não me visitastes.
44 Then they will answer and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?'	44 Então, eles, também responderão: Senhor, quando é que nós te vimos faminto ou sequioso, ou peregrino, ou nu, ou enfermo, ou na prisão, e não te assistimos?
45 He will answer them, 'Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.'	45 E lhes responderá: Na verdade vos digo : Todas as vezes que o não fizestes a um destes mais pequeninos, a mim o não fizestes.
46 And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."	46 E esses irão para o suplício eterno; e os justos para a vida eterna."
