1 A psalm of Asaph. The LORD, the God of gods, has spoken and summoned the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.	1 (Per la fine. Salmo di David)
2 From Zion God shines forth. perfect in beauty.	2 Quando andò a trovarlo il profeta Natan, dopo che egli era stato con Betsabea).
3 Our God comes and will not be silent! Devouring fire precedes, storming fiercely round about.	3 Abbi pietà di me, o Dio, secondo la tua grande misericordia, e per l'immensa tua bontà cancella il mio peccato.
4 God summons the heavens above and the earth to the judgment of his people:	4 Lavami del tutto dalla mia iniquità e purificami dalla mia colpa;
5 "Gather my faithful ones before me, those who made a covenant with me by sacrifice."	5 Perchè io riconosco il mio delitto e il mio peccato mi sta sempre davanti.
6 The heavens proclaim divine justice, for God alone is the judge. Selah	6 Contro di te in particolare ho peccato, il male l'ho fatto dinanzi a te: cosi sei giustificato nelle tue parole e trionfi nel tuo giudizio.
7 "Listen, my people, I will speak; Israel, I will testify against you; God, your God, am I.	7 Ah! Nella colpa io son nato, e nei peccati m'ha concepito la mia madre!
8 Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you, nor for your holocausts, set before me daily.	8 E tu, che ami la verità, mi hai svelati gli occulti misteri della tua sapienza!
9 I need no bullock from your house, no goats from your fold.	9 Aspergimi coll'issopo, e sarò purificato; lavami, e diverrò più bianco della neve.
10 For every animal of the forest is mine, beasts by the thousands on my mountains.	10 Fammi sentire parole di gioia e di letizia, ed esulteranno le ossa umiliate.
11 I know every bird of the heavens; the creatures of the field belong to me.	11 Rivolgi la faccia dai miei peccati e cancella tutte le mie iniquità.
12 Were I hungry, I would not tell you, for mine is the world and all that fills it.	12 Crea in ine un cuor puro, o Dio, e rinnoverà nella mie viscere lo spirito retto.
13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?	13 Non mi scacciare dalla tua presenza, non mi togliere il tuo santo spirito. 1
14 Offer praise as your sacrifice to God; fulfill your vows to the Most High.	14 Ridonami la gioia della tua salute e confortami con Io spirito sovrano.
15 Then call on me in time of distress; I will rescue you, and you shall honor me."	15 Additerò agli iniqui le tue vie, e a te si convertiranno gli empi.
16 But to the wicked God says: "Why do you recite my commandments and profess my covenant with your lips?	16 Liberami dal sangue, o Dio, o Dio della mia salvezza, e la mia lingua canterà con gioia la tua giustizia.
17 You hate discipline; you cast my words behind you!	17 Signore, tu aprirai le mie labbra, e la mia bocca annunzierà le tue lodi.
18 When you see thieves, you befriend them; with adulterers you throw in your lot.	18 Se tu avessi desiderato un sacrifizio, l'avrei offerto, ma a te non piacciono gli olocausti.
19 You give your mouth free rein for evil; you harness your tongue to deceit.	19 Il sacrifizio a Dio è lo spirito compunto; il cuor contrito e umiliato, o Dio, tu non lo disprezzerai.
20 You sit maligning your own kin, slandering the child of your own mother.	20 Nella tua bontà mostrati benigno, o Signore, a Sionne, e fa che siano edificate le mura di Gerusalemme.
21 When you do these things should I be silent? Or do you think that I am like you? I accuse you, I lay the charge before you.	21 Allora accetterai il sacrifizio di giustizia, le oblazioni e gli olocausti; allora offriranno sopra il tuo altare i vitelli.
22 "Understand this, you who forget God, lest I attack you with no one to rescue.
23 Those who offer praise as a sacrifice honor me; to the obedient I will show the salvation of God."
