Psalms 50

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 A psalm of Asaph. The LORD, the God of gods, has spoken and summoned the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.
2 From Zion God shines forth. perfect in beauty.	2 Depuis Sion, beauté parfaite, Dieu resplendit;
3 Our God comes and will not be silent! Devouring fire precedes, storming fiercely round about.	3 il vient, notre Dieu, il ne se taira point. Devant lui, un feu dévore, autour de lui, bourrasqueviolente;
4 God summons the heavens above and the earth to the judgment of his people:	4 il appelle les cieux d'en haut et la terre pour juger son peuple.
5 "Gather my faithful ones before me, those who made a covenant with me by sacrifice."	5 "Assemblez devant moi les miens, qui scellèrent mon alliance en sacrifiant."
6 The heavens proclaim divine justice, for God alone is the judge. Selah	6 Les cieux annoncent sa justice: "Dieu, c'est lui le juge! "
7 "Listen, my people, I will speak; Israel, I will testify against you; God, your God, am I.	7 "Ecoute, mon peuple, j'accuse, Israël, et je t'adjure, moi, Dieu, ton Dieu.
8 Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you, nor for your holocausts, set before me daily.	8 Ce n'est pas tes sacrifices que j'accuse, tes holocaustes constamment devant moi;
9 I need no bullock from your house, no goats from your fold.	9 je ne prendrai pas de ta maison un taureau, ni de tes bergeries des boucs.
10 For every animal of the forest is mine, beasts by the thousands on my mountains.	10 Car tout fauve des forêts est à moi, des animaux sur les montagnes par milliers;
11 I know every bird of the heavens; the creatures of the field belong to me.	11 je connais tous les oiseaux des cieux, toute bête des champs est pour moi.
12 Were I hungry, I would not tell you, for mine is the world and all that fills it.	12 Si j'ai faim, je n'irai pas te le dire, car le monde est à moi et son contenu.
13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?	13 Vais-je manger la chair des taureaux, le sang des boucs, vais-je le boire?
14 Offer praise as your sacrifice to God; fulfill your vows to the Most High.	14 Offre à Dieu un sacrifice d'action de grâces, accomplis tes voeux pour le Très-Haut;
15 Then call on me in time of distress; I will rescue you, and you shall honor me."	15 appelle-moi au jour de l'angoisse, je t'affranchirai et tu me rendras gloire."
16 But to the wicked God says: "Why do you recite my commandments and profess my covenant with your lips?	16 Mais l'impie, Dieu lui déclare: "Que viens-tu réciter mes commandements, qu'as-tu mon alliance àla bouche,
17 You hate discipline; you cast my words behind you!	17 toi qui détestes la règle et rejettes mes paroles derrière toi?
18 When you see thieves, you befriend them; with adulterers you throw in your lot.	18 Si tu vois un voleur, tu fraternises, tu es chez toi parmi les adultères;
19 You give your mouth free rein for evil; you harness your tongue to deceit.	19 tu livres ta bouche au mal et ta langue trame la tromperie.
20 You sit maligning your own kin, slandering the child of your own mother.	20 Tu t'assieds, tu accuses ton frère, tu déshonores le fils de ta mère.
21 When you do these things should I be silent? Or do you think that I am like you? I accuse you, I lay the charge before you.	21 Voilà ce que tu fais, et je me tairais? Penses-tu que je suis comme toi? Je te dénonce et m'expliquedevant toi.
22 "Understand this, you who forget God, lest I attack you with no one to rescue.	22 Prenez bien garde, vous qui oubliez Dieu, que je n'emporte, et personne pour délivrer!
23 Those who offer praise as a sacrifice honor me; to the obedient I will show the salvation of God."	23 Qui offre l'action de grâces me rend gloire, à l'homme droit, je ferai voir le salut de Dieu."
