Psalms 50

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	NOVA VULGATA
1 A psalm of Asaph. The LORD, the God of gods, has spoken and summoned the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.	1 Psalmus. Asaph. Deus deorum, Dominus, locutus est et vocavit terram a solis ortu usque ad occasum.
2 From Zion God shines forth. perfect in beauty.	2 Ex Sion speciosa decore Deus illuxit,
3 Our God comes and will not be silent! Devouring fire precedes, storming fiercely round about.	3 Deus noster veniet et non silebit: ignis consumens est in conspectu eius, et in circuitu eius tempestas valida.
4 God summons the heavens above and the earth to the judgment of his people:	4 Advocabit caelum desursum et terram discernere populum suum:
5 "Gather my faithful ones before me, those who made a covenant with me by sacrifice."	5 “ Congregate mihi sanctos meos, qui disposuerunt testamentum meum in sacrificio ”.
6 The heavens proclaim divine justice, for God alone is the judge. Selah	6 Et annuntiabunt caeli iustitiam eius, quoniam Deus iudex est.
7 "Listen, my people, I will speak; Israel, I will testify against you; God, your God, am I.	7 “ Audi, populus meus, et loquar, Israel, et testificabor adversum te: Deus, Deus tuus, ego sum.
8 Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you, nor for your holocausts, set before me daily.	8 Non in sacrificiis tuis arguam te; holocausta enim tua in conspectu meo sunt semper.
9 I need no bullock from your house, no goats from your fold.	9 Non accipiam de domo tua vitulos neque de gregibus tuis hircos.
10 For every animal of the forest is mine, beasts by the thousands on my mountains.	10 Quoniam meae sunt omnes ferae silvarum, iumentorum mille in montibus.
11 I know every bird of the heavens; the creatures of the field belong to me.	11 Cognovi omnia volatilia caeli; et, quod movetur in agro, meum est.
12 Were I hungry, I would not tell you, for mine is the world and all that fills it.	12 Si esuriero non dicam tibi; meus est enim orbis terrae et plenitudo eius.
13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?	13 Numquid manducabo carnes taurorum aut sanguinem hircorum potabo?
14 Offer praise as your sacrifice to God; fulfill your vows to the Most High.	14 Immola Deo sacrificium laudis et redde Altissimo vota tua;
15 Then call on me in time of distress; I will rescue you, and you shall honor me."	15 et invoca me in die tribulationis: eruam te, et honorificabis me ”.
16 But to the wicked God says: "Why do you recite my commandments and profess my covenant with your lips?	16 Peccatori autem dixit Deus: “ Quare tu enarras praecepta mea et assumis testamentum meum in os tuum?
17 You hate discipline; you cast my words behind you!	17 Tu vero odisti disciplinam et proiecisti sermones meos retrorsum.
18 When you see thieves, you befriend them; with adulterers you throw in your lot.	18 Si videbas furem, currebas cum eo; et cum adulteris erat portio tua.
19 You give your mouth free rein for evil; you harness your tongue to deceit.	19 Os tuum dimittebas ad malitiam, et lingua tua concinnabat dolos.
20 You sit maligning your own kin, slandering the child of your own mother.	20 Sedens adversus fratrem tuum loquebaris et adversus filium matris tuae proferebas opprobrium.
21 When you do these things should I be silent? Or do you think that I am like you? I accuse you, I lay the charge before you.	21 Haec fecisti, et tacui. Existimasti quod eram tui similis. Arguam te et statuam illa contra faciem tuam.
22 "Understand this, you who forget God, lest I attack you with no one to rescue.	22 Intellegite haec, qui obliviscimini Deum, ne quando rapiam, et non sit qui eripiat.
23 Those who offer praise as a sacrifice honor me; to the obedient I will show the salvation of God."	23 Qui immolabit sacrificium laudis, honorificabit me; et, qui immaculatus est in via, ostendam illi salutare Dei ”.
