Job 13

1 Lo, all this my eye has seen; my ear has heard and perceived it.	1 - Ecco, tutte queste cose ha viste l'occhio mio, ha udite il mio orecchio e tutte io le compresi;
2 What you know, I also know; I fall not short of you.	2 quanto sapete voialtri lo so anch'io, nè a voialtri io sono inferiore.
3 But I would speak with the Almighty; I wish to reason with God.	3 Io invece all'Onnipotente parlo, e di discutere con Dio io bramo:
4 You are glossing over falsehoods and offering vain remedies, every one of you!	4 mostrando prima che siete fabbricatori di menzogna, e che asserite false dottrine.
5 Oh, that you would be altogether silent! This for you would be wisdom.	5 Oh! se piuttosto serbaste silenzio, sì da farvi stimare sapienti!
6 Hear now the rebuke I shall utter and listen to the reproof from my lips.	6 Ascoltate dunque la mia riprensione, e alla sentenza delle mie labbra fate attenzione.
7 Is it for God that you speak falsehood? Is it for him that you utter deceit?	7 Ha forse bisogno Dio della vostra menzogna, perchè dobbiate asserire cose false in favor suo?
8 Is it for him that you show partiality? Do you play advocate on behalf of God?	8 Vi mostrerete forse parziali con luie vi sforzerete di far gli avvocati di Dio?
9 Will it be well when he shall search you out? Would you impose on him as one does on men?	9 Ma ciò piacerà a lui a cui nulla si può celare? ovvero rimarrà egli, come uomo, ingannato dalle vostre frodi?
10 He will openly rebuke you if even in secret you show partiality.	10 Egli stesso riprenderebbe voialtri, perchè in segreto vi mostrate parziali con lui;
11 Surely will his majesty affright you and the dread of him fall upon you.	11 tosto ch'ei si scotesse vi sbigottirebbe, ed il terrore di lui cadrebbe su voialtri;
12 Your reminders are ashy maxims, your fabrications are mounds of clay.	12 i vostri memoriali sarebbero [sentenze da] cenere, e diventerebbero d'argilla i vostri cimieri.
13 Be silent, let me alone! that I may speak and give vent to my feelings.	13 Tacete alquanto, ed io parleròtutto ciò che la mia mente mi dirà.
14 I will carry my flesh between my teeth, and take my life in my hand.	14 Perchè lacero io le mie carni con i miei denti, e perchè metto l'anima mia nelle mie mani?
15 Slay me though he might, I will wait for him; I will defend my conduct before him.	15 Quand'anche egli mi uccidesse, in lui spererò, eppur la mia condotta innanzi a lui difenderò;
16 And this shall be my salvation, that no impious man can come into his presence.	16 ed egli proprio sarà il mio salvatore, poichè in faccia a lui non comparisce alcun ipocrita.
17 Pay careful heed to my speech, and give my statement a hearing.	17 Ascoltate la mia parola, ed alle mie sentenze porgete orecchio.
18 Behold, I have prepared my case, I know that I am in the right.	18 Se io sarò giudicato, so che verrò riconosciuto giusto.
19 If anyone can make a case against me, then I shall be silent and die.	19 Chi è che verrà meco in giudizio? Venga! Perchè dovrei consumarmi tacendo?
20 These things only do not use against me, then from your presence I need not hide:	20 Soltanto due cose tu [o Dio], non dovrai fare con me, e allor dalla tua faccia non m'occulterò:
21 Withdraw your hand far from me, and let not the terror of you frighten me.	21 la tua mano ritira tu da me, e il tuo terrore non mi sbigottisca;
22 Then call me, and I will respond; or let me speak first, and answer me.	22 quindi interrogami ed io ti risponderò, ovvero parlerò io e tu rispondimi.
23 What are my faults and my sins? My misdeeds and my sins make known to me!	23 Quante sono le mie iniquità e peccati? le mie scelleratezze e delitti fammi conoscere!
24 Why do you hide your face and consider me your enemy?	24 Perchè mai nascondi tu il tuo volto, e mi reputi come tuo nemico?
25 Will you harass a wind-driven leaf, or pursue a withered straw?	25 Contro una foglia, che il vento rapisce, mostri la tua potenza, e perseguiti un'arida pagliuzza;
26 For you draw up bitter indictments against me, and punish in me the faults of my youth.	26 tu infatti decreti contro di me amarezze, e mi vuoi far consumar dai peccati della mia giovinezza:
27 You put my feet in the stocks; you watch all my paths and trace out all my footsteps.	27 mettesti nel ceppo i piedi miei, osservasti tutte le mie strade, e l'orme de' miei piedi scrutasti;
28 Though he wears out like a leather bottle, like a garment that the moth has consumed?	28 mentre io come [legno] tarlato devo consumarmi, e come veste ch'è corrosa dalla tignuola.
