Philemon 1

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,	1 "Paul, prisonnier du Christ Jésus, et le frère Timothée, à Philémon, notre cher collaborateur,
2 And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the church in thy house:	2 avec Apphia notre soeur, Archippe notre frère d'armes, et l'Eglise qui s'assemble dans ta maison.
3 Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	3 A vous grâce et paix de par Dieu notre Père et le Seigneur Jésus Christ!
4 I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,	4 Je rends sans cesse grâces à mon Dieu en faisant mémoire de toi dans mes prières,
5 Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;	5 car j'entends louer ta charité et la foi qui t'anime, tant à l'égard du Seigneur Jésus qu'au bénéfice detous les saints.
6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.	6 Puisse cette foi rendre agissant son esprit d'entraide en t'éclairant pleinement sur tout le bien qu'il esten notre pouvoir d'accomplir pour le Christ.
7 For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.	7 De fait, j'ai eu grande joie et consolation en apprenant ta charité: on me dit, frère, que tu as soulagéle coeur des saints!
8 Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,	8 C'est pourquoi, bien que j'aie dans le Christ tout le franc-parler nécessaire pour te prescrire tondevoir,
9 Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.	9 je préfère invoquer la charité et te présenter une requête. Celui qui va parler, c'est Paul, le vieux Paulet, qui plus est, maintenant le prisonnier du Christ Jésus.
10 I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:	10 La requête est pour mon enfant, que j'ai engendré dans les chaînes, cet Onésime,
11 Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:	11 qui jadis ne te fut guère utile, mais qui désormais te sera bien utile, comme il l'est devenu pour moi.
12 Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:	12 Je te le renvoie, et lui, c'est comme mon propre coeur.
13 Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:	13 Je désirais le retenir près de moi, pour qu'il me servît en ton nom dans ces chaînes que me vautl'Evangile;
14 But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.	14 cependant je n'ai rien voulu faire sans ton assentiment, pour que ce bienfait ne parût pas t'êtreimposé, mais qu'il vînt de ton bon gré.
15 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;	15 Peut-être aussi Onésime ne t'a-t-il été retiré pour un temps qu'afin de t'être rendu pour l'éternité,
16 Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?	16 non plus comme un esclave, mais bien mieux qu'un esclave, comme un frère très cher: il l'estgrandement pour moi, combien plus va-t-il l'être pour toi, et selon le monde et selon le Seigneur!
17 If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.	17 Si donc tu as égard aux liens qui nous unissent, reçois-le comme si c'était moi.
18 If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;	18 Et s'il t'a fait du tort ou te doit quelque chose, mets cela sur mon compte.
19 I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.	19 Moi, Paul, je m'y engage de ma propre écriture: c'est moi qui réglerai... Pour ne rien dire de la dettequi t'oblige toujours à mon endroit, et qui est toi-même!
20 Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.	20 Allons, frère, j'attends de toi ce service dans le Seigneur; soulage mon coeur dans le Christ.
21 Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.	21 Je t'écris avec pleine confiance en ta docilité: je sais bien que tu feras plus encore que je nedemande.
22 But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.	22 Avec cela, prépare-moi un gîte; j'espère en effet que, grâce à vos prières, je vais vous être rendu.
23 There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus;	23 Tu as les salutations d'Epaphras, mon compagnon de captivité dans le Christ Jésus,
24 Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers.	24 ainsi que de Marc, Aristarque, Démas et Luc, mes collaborateurs.
25 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.	25 Que la grâce du Seigneur Jésus Christ soit avec votre esprit!
