1 Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,	1 Lettre de Paul, prisonnier du Christ Jésus, et de Timothée, votre frère, adressée à notre cher coopérateur Philémon,
2 And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the church in thy house:	2 à notre sœur Appia, à notre compagnon d’armes Archippe, et à toute l’Église qui se réunit dans leur maison.
3 Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	3 Recevez grâce et paix de Dieu notre Père et du Seigneur Jésus Christ!
4 I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,	4 Tu es toujours présent dans mes prières et je rends grâce à mon Dieu
5 Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;	5 car j’entends parler de la charité et de la foi avec lesquelles tu sers le Seigneur Jésus et les saints frères.
6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.	6 Je voudrais que ta foi soit assez forte pour te faire découvrir tout le bien que nous pouvons faire pour le Christ.
7 For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.	7 Oui, frère, grâce à toi les saints se sentent bien à l’aise et ta charité me procure beaucoup de joie et de réconfort.
8 Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,	8 Aussi, bien que j’aie toute l’autorité pour te dire au nom du Christ ce que tu dois faire,
9 Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.	9 j’aime mieux faire appel à ta charité. Celui qui te prie est Paul “l’Ancien”, maintenant prisonnier pour le Christ Jésus,
10 I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:	10 et la pétition est pour mon enfant Onésime; car dans ma prison j’ai eu ce fils.
11 Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:	11 S’il ne t’a guère servi dans le passé, il va maintenant te donner satisfaction tout comme à moi.
12 Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:	12 Aussi je te l’envoie et, avec lui, le meilleur de moi-même.
13 Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:	13 J’aurais voulu le garder auprès de moi pour qu’il me serve de ta part le temps que je suis en prison à cause de l’Évangile.
14 But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.	14 Mais je n’ai pas voulu le faire sans que tu le saches, car je ne veux pas t’obliger à me faire un cadeau: il faudrait que tu sois d’accord.
15 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;	15 S’il a disparu de chez toi pour un temps, c’était sûrement pour que tu le retrouves de façon définitive;
16 Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?	16 non plus comme un esclave, mais beaucoup mieux qu’un esclave, comme un frère bien-aimé. Il est en effet mon frère par le sang et dans le Seigneur, et il le sera bien plus encore pour toi.
17 If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.	17 Donc, si tu ne m’as pas oublié, reçois-le comme moi-même,
18 If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;	18 et s’il t’a fait du tort ou te doit quelque chose, mets-le à mon compte.
19 I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.	19 C’est moi, Paul qui signe de ma propre main, et je paierai sans même te rappeler que tu as une dette envers moi, et cette dette, c’est toi.
20 Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.	20 Donc, frère, je compte bien sur toi, donne-moi cette satisfaction au nom du Christ.
21 Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.	21 Je t’écris et tu m’écouteras, je le sais; tu feras même plus encore que je ne te demande.
22 But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.	22 Et puis, prépare-moi un coin dans ta maison car, grâce à vos prières, j’espère bien vous être rendu.
23 There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus;	23 Reçois les saluts d’Épaphras, mon compagnon de captivité dans le Seigneur Jésus,
24 Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers.	24 et aussi de Marc, d’Aristarque, de Démas et de Luc, mes coopérateurs.
25 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.	25 Que la grâce du Seigneur Jésus Christ soit avec vous tous.
