KING JAMES BIBLEBiblia Matos Soares
My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.1 A minha alma tem tédio da vida; darei livre curso aos meus lamentos, falarei na amargura do meu coração.
I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou contendest with me.2 Direi a Deus: Não me condenes; mostra-me por que me julgas assim.
Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked?3 Porventura parece-te bem oprimires-me rejeitares-me a mim, que sou obra das tuas mãos, e favoreceres o desígnio dos impios?
Hast thou eyes of flesh? or seest thou as man seeth?4 Porventura tens tu olhos de carne, ou vês as coisas como as vê o homem?
Are thy days as the days of man? are thy years as man's days,5 Porventura os teus dias são como os dias do homem, ou os teus anos são como os anos do homem,
That thou inquirest after mine iniquity, and searchest after my sin?6 para te informares da minha iniquidade, averiguares o meu pecado,
Thou knowest that I am not wicked; and there is none that can deliver out of thine hand.7 sabendo tu que eu não cometi impiedade alguma, e não havendo ninguém que possa arrancar-me da tua mão?
Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me.8 As tuas mãos fizeram-me e modelaram-me e assim de repente me vais destruir?
Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again?9 Lembra-te que me formaste como barro; ir-me-ás reduzir novamente ao pó?
Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?10 Porventura não me mugiste como leite, e coagulaste como queijo?
Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with bones and sinews.11 De pele e de carne me vestiste; de ossos e de nervos me organizaste.
Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.12 Concede-me, com a vida, a misericórdia, a tua providência guardou o meu espírito,
And these things hast thou hid in thine heart: I know that this is with thee.13 Porém, ainda que escoadas estas coisas em teu coração, eu sei todavia que te lembras de tudo.
If I sin, then thou markest me, and thou wilt not acquit me from mine iniquity.14 Se eu peco, tu me observas, e não deixarás sem castigo a minha culpa.
If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction;15 Se for mau, desgraçado de mim? Mas, se for justo, não levantarei cabeça, farto como estou de confusão e de miséria.
For it increaseth. Thou huntest me as a fierce lion: and again thou shewest thyself marvellous upon me.16 Se me levanto, tu me apanharás como a um leão, e me tornarás a atormentar dum modo terrível.
Thou renewest thy witnesses against me, and increasest thine indignation upon me; changes and war are against me.17 Tu renovas contra mim os teus testemunhos, e multiplicas contra mim a tua ira, tropas frescas se levantara contra mim.
Wherefore then hast thou brought me forth out of the womb? Oh that I had given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me!18 Por que me tiraste tu do ventre de minha mãe? Teria perecido, sem que nenhum olho (moral) me visse.
I should have been as though I had not been; I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.19 Teria sido como se não existisse, trasladado do ventre materno para a sepultura.
Are not my days few? cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,20 Porventura o pequeno número dos meus dias não se acabará em breve? Deixa-me, pois, que eu chore um pouco a minha dor,
Before I go whence I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the shadow of death;21 antes que vá para não mais tornar (a esta vida terrena), para aquela terra tenebrosa e coberta de escuridão da morte;
A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.22 terra de miséria e de trevas, onde habita a sombra da morte, e onde não há nenhuma ordem, mas um sempiterno horror.
