Livro dos Salmos 77

SAGRADA BIBLIA	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Ao mestre de canto, segundo Iditum. Salmo de Asaf. Minha voz se eleva para Deus e clamo. Elevo minha voz a Deus para que ele me atenda;	1 Unto the end, for Idithun, a psalm of Asaph.
2 No dia de angústia procuro o Senhor. De noite minhas mãos se levantam para ele sem descanso; e, contudo, minha alma recusa toda consolação.	2 I cried to the Lord with my voice; to God with my voice, and he gave ear to me.
3 Faz-me gemer a lembrança de Deus; na minha meditação, sinto o espírito desfalecer.	3 In the day of my trouble I sought God, with my hands lifted up to him in the night, and I was not deceived. My soul refused to be comforted:
4 Vós me conservais os olhos abertos, estou perturbado, falta-me a palavra.	4 I remembered God, and was delighted, and was exercised, and my spirit swooned away.
5 Penso nos dias passados,	5 My eyes prevented the watches: I was troubled, and I spoke not.
6 lembro-me dos anos idos. De noite reflito no fundo do coração e, meditando, indaga meu espírito:	6 I thought upon the days of old: and I had in my mind the eternal years.
7 Porventura Deus nos rejeitará para sempre? Não mais há de nos ser propício?	7 And I meditated in the night with my own heart: and I was exercised and I swept my spirit.
8 Estancou-se sua misericórdia para o bom? Estará sua promessa desfeita para sempre?	8 Will God then cast off for ever? or will he never be more favourable again?
9 Deus se terá esquecido de ter piedade? Ou sua cólera anulou sua clemência?	9 Or will he cut off his mercy for ever, from generation to generation?
10 E concluo então: O que me faz sofrer é que a destra do Altíssimo não é mais a mesma...	10 Or will God forget to shew mercy? or will he in his anger shut up his mercies?
11 Das ações do Senhor eu me recordo, lembro-me de suas maravilhas de outrora.	11 And I said, Now have I begun: this is the change of the right hand of the most High.
12 Reflito em todas vossas obras, e em vossos prodígios eu medito.	12 I remembered the works of the Lord: for I will be mindful of thy wonders from the beginning.
13 Ó Deus, santo é o vosso proceder. Que deus há tão grande quanto o nosso Deus?	13 And I will meditate on all thy works: and will be employed in thy inventions.
14 Vós sois o Deus dos prodígios, vosso poder manifestastes entre os povos.	14 Thy way, O God, is in the holy place: who is the great God like our God?
15 Com o poder de vosso braço resgatastes vosso povo, os filhos de Jacó e de José.	15 Thou art the God that dost wonders. Thou hast made thy power known among the nations:
16 As águas vos viram, Senhor, as águas vos viram; elas tremeram e as vagas se puseram em movimento.	16 with thy arm thou hast redeemed thy people the children of Jacob and of Joseph.
17 Em torrentes de água as nuvens se tornaram, elas fizeram ouvir a sua voz, de todos os lados fuzilaram vossas flechas.	17 The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee: and they were afraid, and the depths were troubled.
18 Na procela ribombaram os vossos trovões, os relâmpagos iluminaram o globo; abalou-se com o choque e tremeu a terra toda.	18 Great was the noise of the waters: the clouds sent out a sound. For thy arrows pass:
19 Vós vos abristes um caminho pelo mar, uma senda no meio das muitas águas, permanecendo invisíveis vossos passos.	19 the voice of thy thunder in a wheel. Thy lightnings enlightened the world: the earth shook and trembled.
20 Como um rebanho conduzistes vosso povo, pelas mãos de Moisés e de Aarão.	20 Thy way is in the sea, and thy paths in many waters: and thy footsteps shall not be known.
	21 Thou hast conducted thy people like sheep, by the hand of Moses and Aaron
