Prima lettera di Pietro 5

BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Esorto gli anziani che sono tra voi, quale anziano come loro, testimone delle sofferenze di Cristo e partecipe della gloria che deve manifestarsi:	1 I urge the elders among you, as a fellow-elder myself and a witness to the sufferings of Christ, and asone who is to have a share in the glory that is to be revealed:
2 pascete il gregge di Dio che vi è affidato, sorvegliandolo non per forza ma volentieri secondo Dio; non per vile interesse, ma di buon animo;	2 give a shepherd's care to the flock of God that is entrusted to you: watch over it, not simply as a dutybut gladly, as God wants; not for sordid money, but because you are eager to do it.
3 non spadroneggiando sulle persone a voi affidate, ma facendovi modelli del gregge.	3 Do not lord it over the group which is in your charge, but be an example for the flock.
4 E quando apparirà il pastore supremo, riceverete la corona della gloria che non appassisce.	4 When the chief shepherd appears, you wil be given the unfading crown of glory.
5 Ugualmente, voi, giovani, siate sottomessi agli anziani. Rivestitevi tutti di umiltà gli uni verso gli altri, perché 'Dio resiste ai superbi, ma da' grazia agli umili'.	5 In the same way, younger people, be subject to the elders. Humility towards one another must be thegarment you all wear constantly, because God opposes the proud but accords his favour to the humble.
6 Umiliatevi dunque sotto la potente mano di Dio, perché vi esalti al tempo opportuno,	6 Bow down, then, before the power of God now, so that he may raise you up in due time;
7 'gettando' in lui ogni 'vostra preoccupazione', perché egli ha cura di voi.	7 unload al your burden on to him, since he is concerned about you.
8 Siate temperanti, vigilate. Il vostro nemico, il diavolo, come leone ruggente va in giro, cercando chi divorare.	8 Keep sober and alert, because your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking forsomeone to devour.
9 Resistetegli saldi nella fede, sapendo che i vostri fratelli sparsi per il mondo subiscono le stesse sofferenze di voi.	9 Stand up to him, strong in faith and in the knowledge that it is the same kind of suffering that thecommunity of your brothers throughout the world is undergoing.
10 E il Dio di ogni grazia, il quale vi ha chiamati alla sua gloria eterna in Cristo, egli stesso vi ristabilirà, dopo una breve sofferenza vi confermerà e vi renderà forti e saldi.	10 You wil have to suffer only for a little while: the God of all grace who called you to eternal glory inChrist wil restore you, he wil confirm, strengthen and support you.
11 A lui la potenza nei secoli. Amen!	11 His power lasts for ever and ever. Amen.
12 Vi ho scritto, come io ritengo, brevemente per mezzo di Silvano, fratello fedele, per esortarvi e attestarvi che questa è la vera grazia di Dio. In essa state saldi!	12 I write these few words to you through Silvanus, who is a trustworthy brother, to encourage you andattest that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!
13 Vi saluta la comunità che è stata eletta come voi e dimora in Babilonia; e anche Marco, mio figlio.	13 Your sister in Babylon, who is with you among the chosen, sends you greetings; so does my son,Mark.
14 Salutatevi l'un l'altro con bacio di carità. Pace a voi tutti che siete in Cristo!	14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you al who are in Christ.
