1 Proprio per questo bisogna che ci applichiamo con maggiore impegno a quelle cose che abbiamo udito, per non andare fuori strada.	1 For this reason, it is necessary for us to observe more thoroughly the things that we have heard, lest we let them slip away.
2 Se, infatti, la parola trasmessa per mezzo degli angeli si è dimostrata salda, e ogni trasgressione e disobbedienza ha ricevuto giusta punizione,	2 For if a word that was spoken through the Angels has been made firm, and every transgression and disobedience has received the recompense of a just retribution,
3 come potremo scampare noi se trascuriamo una salvezza così grande? Questa infatti, dopo essere stata promulgata all'inizio dal Signore, è stata confermata in mezzo a noi da quelli che l'avevano udita,	3 in what way might we escape, if we neglect such a great salvation? For though initially it had begun to be described by the Lord, it was confirmed among us by those who heard him,
4 mentre Dio testimoniava nello stesso tempo con segni e prodigi e miracoli d'ogni genere e doni dello Spirito Santo, distribuiti secondo la sua volontà.	4 with God testifying to it by signs and wonders, and by various miracles, and by the pouring out of the Holy Spirit, in accord with his own will.
5 Non certo a degli angeli egli ha assoggettato il mondo futuro, del quale parliamo.	5 For God did not subject the future world, about which we are speaking, to the Angels.
6 Anzi, qualcuno in un passo ha testimoniato: 'Che cos'è l'uomo perché ti ricordi di lui o il figlio dell'uomo perché tu te ne curi?'	6 But someone, in a certain place, has testified, saying: “What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the Son of man, that you visit him?
7 'Di poco l'hai fatto inferiore agli angeli, di gloria e di onore l'hai coronato'	7 You have reduced him to a little less than the Angels. You have crowned him with glory and honor, and you have set him over the works of your hands.
8 'e hai posto ogni cosa sotto i suoi piedi'. Avendogli assoggettato ogni cosa, nulla ha lasciato che non gli fosse sottomesso. Tuttavia al presente non vediamo ancora che ogni cosa sia a lui sottomessa.	8 You have subjected all things under his feet.” For in as much as he has subjected all things to him, he has left nothing not subject to him. But in the present time, we do not yet perceive that all things have been made subject to him.
9 Però quel Gesù, che 'fu fatto di poco inferiore agli angeli', lo vediamo ora coronato di gloria e di onore a causa della morte che ha sofferto, perché per la grazia di Dio egli provasse la morte a vantaggio di tutti.	9 Yet we understand that Jesus, who was reduced to a little less than the Angels, was crowned with glory and honor because of his Passion and death, in order that, by the grace of God, he might taste death for all.
10 Ed era ben giusto che colui, per il quale e del quale sono tutte le cose, volendo portare molti figli alla gloria, rendesse perfetto mediante la sofferenza il capo che li ha guidati alla salvezza.	10 For it was fitting for him, because of whom and through whom all things exist, who had led many children into glory, to complete the authorship of their salvation through his Passion.
11 Infatti, colui che santifica e coloro che sono santificati provengono tutti da una stessa origine; per questo non si vergogna di chiamarli fratelli,	11 For he who sanctifies, and those who are sanctified, are all from One. For this reason, he is not ashamed to call them brothers, saying:
12 dicendo: 'Annunzierò il tuo nome ai miei fratelli, in mezzo all'assemblea canterò le tue lodi;'	12 “I will announce your name to my brothers. In the midst of the Church, I will praise you.”
13 e ancora: 'Io metterò la mia fiducia in lui;' e inoltre: 'Eccoci, io e i figli che Dio mi ha dato'.	13 And again: “I will be faithful in him.” And again: “Behold, I and my children, whom God has given to me.”
14 Poiché dunque i figli hanno in comune il sangue e la carne, anch'egli ne è divenuto partecipe, per ridurre all'impotenza mediante la morte colui che della morte ha il potere, cioè il diavolo,	14 Therefore, because children have a common flesh and blood, he himself also, in like manner, has shared in the same, so that through death, he might destroy him who held the dominion of death, that is, the devil,
15 e liberare così quelli che per timore della morte erano soggetti a schiavitù per tutta la vita.	15 and so that he might free those who, through the fear of death, had been condemned to servitude throughout their entire life.
16 Egli infatti non si prende cura degli angeli, ma 'della stirpe di Abramo si prende cura'.	16 For at no time did he take hold of the Angels, but instead he took hold of the offspring of Abraham.
17 Perciò doveva rendersi in tutto simile ai fratelli, per diventare un sommo sacerdote misericordioso e fedele nelle cose che riguardano Dio, allo scopo di espiare i peccati del popolo.	17 Therefore, it is fitting for him to be made similar to his brothers in all things, so that he might become a merciful and faithful High Priest before God, in order that he might bring forgiveness to the offenses of the people.
18 Infatti proprio per essere stato messo alla prova ed avere sofferto personalmente, è in grado di venire in aiuto a quelli che subiscono la prova.	18 For in as much as he himself has suffered and has been tempted, he also is able to assist those who are tempted.
