1 Proprio per questo bisogna che ci applichiamo con maggiore impegno a quelle cose che abbiamo udito, per non andare fuori strada.	1 We ought, then, to turn our minds more attentively than before to what we have been taught, so that wedo not drift away.
2 Se, infatti, la parola trasmessa per mezzo degli angeli si è dimostrata salda, e ogni trasgressione e disobbedienza ha ricevuto giusta punizione,	2 If a message that was spoken through angels proved to be so reliable that every infringement anddisobedience brought its own proper punishment,
3 come potremo scampare noi se trascuriamo una salvezza così grande? Questa infatti, dopo essere stata promulgata all'inizio dal Signore, è stata confermata in mezzo a noi da quelli che l'avevano udita,	3 then we shal certainly not go unpunished if we neglect such a great salvation. It was first announced bythe Lord himself, and is guaranteed to us by those who heard him;
4 mentre Dio testimoniava nello stesso tempo con segni e prodigi e miracoli d'ogni genere e doni dello Spirito Santo, distribuiti secondo la sua volontà.	4 God himself confirmed their witness with signs and marvels and miracles of al kinds, and bydistributing the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the various ways he wil s.
5 Non certo a degli angeli egli ha assoggettato il mondo futuro, del quale parliamo.	5 It was not under angels that he put the world to come, about which we are speaking.
6 Anzi, qualcuno in un passo ha testimoniato: 'Che cos'è l'uomo perché ti ricordi di lui o il figlio dell'uomo perché tu te ne curi?'	6 Someone witnesses to this somewhere with the words: What are human beings that you spare athought for them, a child of Adam that you care for him?
7 'Di poco l'hai fatto inferiore agli angeli, di gloria e di onore l'hai coronato'	7 For a short while you have made him less than the angels; you have crowned him with glory andhonour,
8 'e hai posto ogni cosa sotto i suoi piedi'. Avendogli assoggettato ogni cosa, nulla ha lasciato che non gli fosse sottomesso. Tuttavia al presente non vediamo ancora che ogni cosa sia a lui sottomessa.	8 put al things under his feet. For in putting al things under him he made no exceptions. At present, it istrue, we are not able to see that all things are under him,
9 Però quel Gesù, che 'fu fatto di poco inferiore agli angeli', lo vediamo ora coronato di gloria e di onore a causa della morte che ha sofferto, perché per la grazia di Dio egli provasse la morte a vantaggio di tutti.	9 but we do see Jesus, who was for a short while made less than the angels, now crowned with glory andhonour because he submitted to death; so that by God's grace his experience of death should benefit allhumanity.
10 Ed era ben giusto che colui, per il quale e del quale sono tutte le cose, volendo portare molti figli alla gloria, rendesse perfetto mediante la sofferenza il capo che li ha guidati alla salvezza.	10 It was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should, in bringing many sons toglory, make perfect through suffering the leader of their salvation.
11 Infatti, colui che santifica e coloro che sono santificati provengono tutti da una stessa origine; per questo non si vergogna di chiamarli fratelli,	11 For consecrator and consecrated are al of the same stock; that is why he is not ashamed to call thembrothers
12 dicendo: 'Annunzierò il tuo nome ai miei fratelli, in mezzo all'assemblea canterò le tue lodi;'	12 in the text: I shal proclaim your name to my brothers, praise you in full assembly; or in the text:
13 e ancora: 'Io metterò la mia fiducia in lui;' e inoltre: 'Eccoci, io e i figli che Dio mi ha dato'.	13 I shal put my hope in him; fol owed by Look, I and the children whom God has given me.
14 Poiché dunque i figli hanno in comune il sangue e la carne, anch'egli ne è divenuto partecipe, per ridurre all'impotenza mediante la morte colui che della morte ha il potere, cioè il diavolo,	14 Since al the children share the same human nature, he too shared equal y in it, so that by his deathhe could set aside him who held the power of death, namely the devil,
15 e liberare così quelli che per timore della morte erano soggetti a schiavitù per tutta la vita.	15 and set free al those who had been held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death.
16 Egli infatti non si prende cura degli angeli, ma 'della stirpe di Abramo si prende cura'.	16 For it was not the angels that he took to himself; he took to himself the line of Abraham.
17 Perciò doveva rendersi in tutto simile ai fratelli, per diventare un sommo sacerdote misericordioso e fedele nelle cose che riguardano Dio, allo scopo di espiare i peccati del popolo.	17 It was essential that he should in this way be made completely like his brothers so that he couldbecome a compassionate and trustworthy high priest for their relationship to God, able to expiate the sins of thepeople.
18 Infatti proprio per essere stato messo alla prova ed avere sofferto personalmente, è in grado di venire in aiuto a quelli che subiscono la prova.	18 For the suffering he himself passed through while being put to the test enables him to help otherswhen they are being put to the test.
