Esdra 5

BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ma i profeti Aggeo e Zaccaria figlio di Iddo si rivolsero ai Giudei che erano in Giuda e a Gerusalemme, profetando in nome del Dio d'Israele, che li ispirava.	1 When the prophets Haggai and Zechariah son of Iddo prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah andJerusalem in the name of the God of Israel who was over them,
2 Allora Zorobabele figlio di Sealtiel, e Giosuè figlio di Iozadàk subito ripresero a costruire il tempio di Gerusalemme; con essi erano i profeti di Dio, che li incoraggiavano.	2 Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak began rebuilding the Temple of God inJerusalem; with them were the prophets of God, supporting them.

9 Allora abbiamo interrogato quegli anziani e abbiamo loro detto: Chi ha dato ordine di ricostruire questo tempio e di rialzare questa cinta di mura?	9 Questioning these elders, we asked them, "Who gave you permission to rebuild this Temple andcomplete this structure?"
10 Inoltre abbiamo domandato i loro nomi, per farteli conoscere; così abbiamo scritto il nome degli uomini che stanno loro a capo.	10 We also asked them their names, to inform you, so that we could record the names of the men whowere their leaders.
11 Essi hanno risposto: Noi siamo servitori del Dio del cielo e della terra e ricostruiamo il tempio che fu costruito una volta, or sono molti anni. Un grande re d'Israele lo ha costruito e lo ha portato a termine.	11 'They gave us the fol owing answer, "We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth; we arerebuilding the Temple built many years ago, which a great king of Israel had built and completed.

15 Ciro gli disse: Prendi questi arredi, portali nel tempio di Gerusalemme e fa' in modo che il tempio sia ricostruito al suo posto.	15 He said to him, 'Take these articles; go and return them to the Temple which is in Jerusalem and letthe Temple of God be rebuilt on its original site;'

17 Ora, se piace al re, si cerchi negli archivi del re in Babilonia se vi è un decreto emanato dal re Ciro per ricostruire questo tempio in Gerusalemme: e ci si mandi la decisione del re".	17 'Hence, if it please the king, let search be made in the royal treasuries in Babylon, to find out if it is truethat an official order was issued by King Cyrus for this temple of God in Jerusalem to be rebuilt; and let the king'sdecision on this matter be sent to us.'
