BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Chiram, re di Tiro, mandò messaggeri a Davide con legno di cedro, muratori e falegnami per costruirgli una casa.	1 Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, with cedar wood, stone-cutters and carpenters, to build hima palace.
2 Davide allora riconobbe che il Signore l'aveva confermato re su Israele e che il suo regno era molto esaltato a causa del suo popolo Israele.	2 David then knew that Yahweh had confirmed him as king of Israel and, for the sake of his people, hadextended his sovereignty.
3 Davide prese altre mogli in Gerusalemme e generò figli e figlie.	3 David took more wives in Jerusalem and fathered more sons and daughters.
4 I figli che gli erano nati in Gerusalemme si chiamavano Sammua, Sobab, Natàn, Salomone,	4 These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
5 Ibcar, Elisua, Elipelet,	5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,
6 Noga, Nefeg, Iafia,	6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,
7 Elisamà, Beeliada ed Elifèlet.	7 Elishama, Beeliada, Eliphelet.
8 Quando i Filistei seppero che Davide era stato unto re su tutto Israele, vennero tutti per impadronirsi di lui. Appena ne fu informato, Davide uscì loro incontro.	8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king of al Israel, they al invaded to seekhim out. On hearing this, David marched out towards them.
9 I Filistei giunsero e si sparsero per la valle di Rèfaim.	9 When the Philistines arrived, they deployed in the Val ey of the Rephaim.
10 Davide consultò Dio: "Se marcio contro i Filistei, li metterai nelle mie mani?". Il Signore rispose: "Marcia; li metterò nelle tue mani".	10 David consulted God and asked, 'Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my power?'Yahweh replied to him, 'Attack! I shal deliver them into your power.'
11 Quelli vennero a Baal-Perazìm e là Davide li sconfisse. Questi disse: "Dio ha aperto per mio mezzo una breccia fra i miei nemici, come una breccia prodotta dall'acqua"; per questo il luogo fu chiamato Baal-Perazìm.	11 Accordingly, they went up to Baal-Perazim and there David defeated them. David said, 'Through meGod has made a breach in my enemies, as though they had been breached by a flood.' This is why the placewas given the name Baal-Perazim.
12 I Filistei vi abbandonarono i loro idoli e Davide ordinò: "Brucino tra le fiamme!".	12 They had left their gods behind there, and David ordered them to be burnt.
13 Di nuovo i Filistei tornarono a invadere la valle.	13 Again the Philistines deployed in the valley.
14 Davide consultò ancora Dio, che gli rispose: "Non seguirli; aggirali e raggiungili dalla parte di Becoim.	14 David again consulted God, and God replied, 'Do not attack them from the front; go round andengage them opposite the balsam trees.
15 Quando sentirai rumore di passi fra le cime degli alberi, allora uscirai a combattere, perché Dio ti precederà per colpire l'accampamento dei Filistei".	15 When you hear the sound of footsteps in the tops of the balsam trees, launch your attack, for that willbe God going out ahead of you to defeat the Philistine army.'
16 Davide fece come Dio gli aveva comandato. Sbaragliò l'esercito dei Filistei da Gàbaon fino a Ghezer.	16 David did as God had ordered, and they beat the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.
17 La fama di Davide si diffuse in tutti i paesi, mentre il Signore lo rendeva terribile fra tutte le genti.	17 David's fame then spread to every country, and Yahweh made him feared by every nation.
