1 Corintios 11

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Sed mis imitadores, como lo soy de Cristo.	1 Take me as your pattern, just as I take Christ for mine.
2 Os alabo porque en todas las cosas os acordáis de mí y conserváis las tradiciones tal como os las he transmitido.	2 I congratulate you for remembering me so consistently and for maintaining the traditions exactly as Ipassed them on to you.
3 Sin embargo, quiero que sepáis que la cabeza de todo hombre es Cristo; y la cabeza de la mujer es el hombre; y la cabeza de Cristo es Dios.	3 But I should like you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man,and the head of Christ is God.
4 Todo hombre que ora o profetiza con la cabeza cubierta, afrenta a su cabeza.	4 For any man to pray or to prophesy with his head covered shows disrespect for his head.
5 Y toda mujer que ora o profetiza con la cabeza descubierta, afrenta a su cabeza; es como si estuviera rapada.	5 And for a woman to pray or prophesy with her head uncovered shows disrespect for her head; it isexactly the same as if she had her hair shaved off.
6 Por tanto, si una mujer no se cubre la cabeza, que se corte el pelo. Y si es afrentoso para una mujer cortarse el pelo o raparse, ¡que se cubra!	6 Indeed, if a woman does go without a veil, she should have her hair cut off too; but if it is a shamefulthing for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved off, then she should wear a veil.
7 El hombre no debe cubrirse la cabeza, pues es imagen y reflejo de Dios; pero la mujer es reflejo del hombre.	7 But for a man it is not right to have his head covered, since he is the image of God and reflects God'sglory; but woman is the reflection of man's glory.
8 En efecto, no procede el hombre de la mujer, sino la mujer del hombre.	8 For man did not come from woman; no, woman came from man;
9 Ni fue creado el hombre por razón de la mujer, sino la mujer por razón del hombre.	9 nor was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man:
10 He ahí por qué debe llevar la mujer sobre la cabeza una señal de sujeción por razón de los ángeles.	10 and this is why it is right for a woman to wear on her head a sign of the authority over her, becauseof the angels.
11 Por lo demás, ni la mujer sin el hombre, ni el hombre sin la mujer, en el Señor.	11 However, in the Lord, though woman is nothing without man, man is nothing without woman;
12 Porque si la mujer procede del hombre, el hombre, a su vez, nace mediante la mujer. Y todo proviene de Dios.	12 and though woman came from man, so does every man come from a woman, and everything comesfrom God.
13 Juzgad por vosotros mismos. ¿Está bien que la mujer ore a Dios con la cabeza descubierta?	13 Decide for yourselves: does it seem fitting that a woman should pray to God without a veil?
14 ¿No os enseña la misma naturaleza que es una afrenta para el hombre la cabellera,	14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,
15 mientras es una gloria para la mujer la cabellera? En efecto, la cabellera le ha sido dada a modo de velo.	15 but when a woman has long hair, it is her glory? After all, her hair was given to her to be a covering.
16 De todos modos, si alguien quiere discutir, no es ésa nuestra costumbre ni la de las Iglesias de Dios.	16 If anyone wants to be contentious, I say that we have no such custom, nor do any of the churches ofGod.
17 Y al dar estas disposiciones, no os alabo, porque vuestras reuniones son más para mal que para bien.	17 Now that I am on the subject of instructions, I cannot congratulate you on the meetings you hold;they do more harm than good.
18 Pues, ante todo, oigo que, al reuniros en la asamblea, hay entre vosotros divisiones, y lo creo en parte.	18 In the first place, I hear that when you al come together in your assembly, there are separatefactions among you, and to some extent I believe it.
19 Desde luego, tiene que haber entre vosotros también disensiones, para que se ponga de manifiesto quiénes son de probada virtud entre vosotros.	19 It is no bad thing, either, that there should be differing groups among you so that those who are to betrusted among you can be clearly recognised.
20 Cuando os reunís, pues, en común, eso ya no es comer la Cena del Señor;	20 So, when you meet together, it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat;
21 porque cada uno come primero su propia cena, y mientras uno pasa hambre, otro se embriaga.	21 for when the eating begins, each one of you has his own supper first, and there is one going hungrywhile another is getting drunk.
22 ¿No tenéis casas para comer y beber? ¿O es que despreciáis a la Iglesia de Dios y avergonzáis a los que no tienen? ¿Qué voy a deciros? ¿Alabaros? ¡En eso no los alabo!	22 Surely you have homes for doing your eating and drinking in? Or have you such disregard for God'sassembly that you can put to shame those who have nothing? What am I to say to you? Congratulate you? Onthis I cannot congratulate you.
23 Porque yo recibí del Señor lo que os he transmitido: que el Señor Jesús, la noche en que fue entregado, tomó pan,	23 For the tradition I received from the Lord and also handed on to you is that on the night he wasbetrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread,
24 y después de dar gracias, lo partió y dijo: «Este es mi cuerpo que se da por vosotros; haced esto en recuerdo mío».	24 and after he had given thanks, he broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this inremembrance of me.'
25 Asimismo también la copa después de cenar diciendo: «Esta copa es la Nueva Alianza en mi sangre. Cuantas veces la bibiereis, hacedlo en recuerdo mío».	25 And in the same way, with the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood.Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me.'
26 Pues cada vez que coméis este pan y bebéis esta copa, anunciáis la muerte del Señor, hasta que venga.	26 Whenever you eat this bread, then, and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death until hecomes.
27 Por tanto, quien coma el pan o beba la copa del Señor indignamente, será reo del Cuerpo y de la Sangre del Señor.	27 Therefore anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily is answerable for thebody and blood of the Lord.
28 Examínese, pues, cada cual, y coma así el pan y beba de la copa.	28 Everyone is to examine himself and only then eat of the bread or drink from the cup;
29 Pues quien come y bebe sin discernir el Cuerpo, come y bebe su propio castigo.	29 because a person who eats and drinks without recognising the body is eating and drinking his owncondemnation.
30 Por eso hay entre vosotros muchos enfermos y muchos débiles, y mueren no pocos.	30 That is why many of you are weak and il and a good number have died.
31 Si nos juzgásemos a nosotros mismos, no seríamos castigados.	31 If we were critical of ourselves we would not be condemned,
32 Mas, al ser castigados, somos corregidos por el Señor, para que no seamos condenados con el mundo.	32 but when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected by the Lord to save us from being condemnedalong with the world.
33 Así pues, hermanos míos, cuando os reunáis para la Cena, esperaos los unos a los otros.	33 So then, my brothers, when you meet for the Meal, wait for each other;
34 Si alguno tiene hambre, que coma en su casa, a fin de que no os reunáis para castigo vuestro. Lo demás lo dispondré cuando vaya.	34 anyone who is hungry should eat at home. Then your meeting wil not bring your condemnation. Theother matters I shal arrange when I come.
