| 1 Habló Yahveh a Moisés y le dijo: | 1 The LORD said to Moses, |
| 2 «Haz que los israelitas tomen venganza de los madianitas. Luego irás a reunirte con tu parentela.» | 2 "Avenge the people of Israel on the Midianites; afterward you shall be gathered to your people." |
| 3 Moisés habló al pueblo y le dijo: «Que se armen algunos de vosotros para la guerra de Yahveh contra Madián, para tomar de Madián la venganza de Yahveh. | 3 And Moses said to the people, "Arm men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian, to execute the LORD's vengeance on Midian. |
| 4 Pondréis sobre las armas mil de cada tribu, de todas las tribus de Israel.» | 4 You shall send a thousand from each of the tribes of Israel to the war." |
| 5 Los millares de Israel suministraron, a razón de mil por cada tribu, 12.000 hombres armados para la guerra. | 5 So there were provided, out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand from each tribe, twelve thousand armed for war. |
| 6 Moisés envió al combate mil por cada tribu, y con ellos a Pinjás, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, que llevaba en su mano los objetos sagrados y las trompetas del clamoreo. | 6 And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand from each tribe, together with Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, with the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand. |
| 7 Atacaron a Madián como había mandado Yahveh a Moisés y mataron a todos los varones. | 7 They warred against Midian, as the LORD commanded Moses, and slew every male. |
| 8 Mataron también a los reyes de Madián: Eví, Réquem, Sur, Jur y Rebá, cinco reyes madianitas; y a Balaam, hijo de Beor, lo mataron a filo de espada. | 8 They slew the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian; and they also slew Balaam the son of Beor with the sword. |
| 9 Los israelitas hicieron cautivas a las mujeres de Madián y a sus niños y saquearon su ganado, sus rebaños, y todos sus bienes. | 9 And the people of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones; and they took as booty all their cattle, their flocks, and all their goods. |
| 10 Dieron fuego a todas las ciudades en que habitaban y a todos sus campamentos. | 10 All their cities in the places where they dwelt, and all their encampments, they burned with fire, |
| 11 Reunieron todo el botín que habían capturado, hombres y bestias, | 11 and took all the spoil and all the booty, both of man and of beast. |
| 12 y llevaron los cautivos, la presa y el botín ante Moisés, ante el sacerdote Eleazar y ante toda la comunidad de los israelitas, al campamento, en las Estepas de Moab, que están cerca del Jordán, a la altura de Jericó. | 12 Then they brought the captives and the booty and the spoil to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the congregation of the people of Israel, at the camp on the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho. |
| 13 Moisés, el sacerdote Eleazar y todos los principales de la comunidad salieron a su encuentro hasta fuera del campamento. | 13 Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the leaders of the congregation, went forth to meet them outside the camp. |
| 14 Moisés se encolerizó contra los jefes de las tropas, jefes de millar y jefes de cien, que volvían de la expedición guerrera. | 14 And Moses was angry with the officers of the army, the commanders of thousands and the commanders of hundreds, who had come from service in the war. |
| 15 Les dijo Moisés: «¿Pero habéis dejado con vida a todas las mujeres? | 15 Moses said to them, "Have you let all the women live? |
| 16 Precisamente ellas fueron las que indujeron a prevaricar contra Yahveh a los israelitas, siguiendo el consejo de Balaam, cuando lo de Peor; por eso azotó la plaga a la comunidad de Yahveh. | 16 Behold, these caused the people of Israel, by the counsel of Balaam, to act treacherously against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and so the plague came among the congregation of the LORD. |
| 17 Matad, pues, a todos los niños varones. Y a toda mujer que haya conocido varón, que haya dormido con varón, matadla también. | 17 Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him. |
| 18 Pero dejad con vida para vosotros a todas las muchachas que no hayan dormido con varón. | 18 But all the young girls who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. |
| 19 Y vosotros, todos los que hayáis matado a alguno y todos los que hayáis tocado a algún muerto, acampad fuera del campamento siete días. Purificaos vosotros y vuestros cautivos, el día tercero y el día séptimo. | 19 Encamp outside the camp seven days; whoever of you has killed any person, and whoever has touched any slain, purify yourselves and your captives on the third day and on the seventh day. |
| 20 Purificad también todos los vestidos, todos los objetos de cuero, todo tejido de pelo de cabra y todo objeto de madera.» | 20 You shall purify every garment, every article of skin, all work of goats' hair, and every article of wood." |
| 21 Dijo el sacerdote Eleazar a los hombres de la tropa que habían ido a la guerra: «Este es el precepto de la Ley que ordenó Yahveh a Moisés. | 21 And Eleazar the priest said to the men of war who had gone to battle: "This is the statute of the law which the LORD has commanded Moses: |
| 22 El oro, la plata, el bronce, el hierro, el estaño y el plomo, | 22 only the gold, the silver, the bronze, the iron, the tin, and the lead, |
| 23 todo lo que puede pasar por el fuego, lo pasaréis por el fuego y quedará puro. Pero será purificado con las aguas lustrales. Pero todo lo que no pueda pasar por el fuego lo pasaréis por las aguas.» | 23 everything that can stand the fire, you shall pass through the fire, and it shall be clean. Nevertheless it shall also be purified with the water of impurity; and whatever cannot stand the fire, you shall pass through the water. |
| 24 Lavaréis vuestros vestidos el día séptimo y quedaréis puros. Luego podréis entrar en el campamento. | 24 You must wash your clothes on the seventh day, and you shall be clean; and afterward you shall come into the camp." |
| 25 Habló Yahveh a Moisés y le dijo: | 25 The LORD said to Moses, |
| 26 «Sacad la cuenta, tú, el sacerdote Eleazar y los principales de las familias de la comunidad, del botín y de los cautivos, hombres y bestias. | 26 "Take the count of the booty that was taken, both of man and of beast, you and Eleazar the priest and the heads of the fathers' houses of the congregation; |
| 27 Luego repartirás el botín, la mitad para los combatientes que fueron a la guerra y la otra mitad para toda la comunidad. | 27 and divide the booty into two parts, between the warriors who went out to battle and all the congregation. |
| 28 Reservarás para Yahveh, de la parte de los combatientes que fueron a la guerra, uno por cada quinientos, sean hombres, bueyes, asnos u ovejas. | 28 And levy for the LORD a tribute from the men of war who went out to battle, one out of five hundred, of the persons and of the oxen and of the asses and of the flocks; |
| 29 Lo tomarás de la mitad que les corresponde y se lo darás al sacerdote Eleazar, como reserva para Yahveh. | 29 take it from their half, and give it to Eleazar the priest as an offering to the LORD. |
| 30 Y de la mitad de los israelitas, uno por cada cincuenta, sean hombres, bueyes, asnos u ovejas, cualquier clase de bestias, y se lo darás a los levitas, que están encargados del ministerio de la Morada de Yahveh. | 30 And from the people of Israel's half you shall take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the oxen, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all the cattle, and give them to the Levites who have charge of the tabernacle of the LORD." |
| 31 Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar hicieron como había mandado Yahveh a Moisés. | 31 And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the LORD commanded Moses. |
| 32 Fue el botín, el remanente de lo que la gente de guerra había saqueado: 675.000 cabezas de ganado lanar, | 32 Now the booty remaining of the spoil that the men of war took was: six hundred and seventy-five thousand sheep, |
| 33 72.000 de vacuno | 33 seventy-two thousand cattle, |
| 34 y 61.000 de ganado asnal. | 34 sixty-one thousand asses, |
| 35 En cuanto a las personas, las mujeres que no habían dormido con varón eran, en total, 32.000. | 35 and thirty-two thousand persons in all, women who had not known man by lying with him. |
| 36 La mitad correspondiente a los que fueron al combate: 337.500 cabezas de ganado lanar, | 36 And the half, the portion of those who had gone out to war, was in number three hundred and thirty-seven thousand five hundred sheep, |
| 37 siendo la parte de Yahveh de ganado lanar, 675 cabezas; | 37 and the LORD's tribute of sheep was six hundred and seventy-five. |
| 38 36.000 de vacuno, siendo la parte de Yahveh 72, | 38 The cattle were thirty-six thousand, of which the LORD's tribute was seventy-two. |
| 39 30.500 de asnal, siendo la parte de Yahveh 61. | 39 The asses were thirty thousand five hundred, of which the LORD's tribute was sixty-one. |
| 40 Las personas eran 16.000, correspondiendo a Yahveh, 32. | 40 The persons were sixteen thousand, of which the LORD's tribute was thirty-two persons. |
| 41 Moisés dio al sacerdote Eleazar la reserva de Yahveh, como había ordenado Yahveh a Moisés. | 41 And Moses gave the tribute, which was the offering for the LORD, to Eleazar the priest, as the LORD commanded Moses. |

| 50 Por eso traemos de ofrenda a Yahveh lo que cada uno de nosotros ha encontrado en objetos de oro, brazaletes, ajorcas, anillos, arracadas y collares, para hacer expiación por nosotros delante de Yahveh.» | 50 And we have brought the LORD's offering, what each man found, articles of gold, armlets and bracelets, signet rings, earrings, and beads, to make atonement for ourselves before the LORD." |
| 51 Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron de ellos el oro y las joyas. | 51 And Moses and Eleazar the priest received from them the gold, all wrought articles. |
| 52 El total del oro de la reserva que reservaron para Yahveh, de parte de los jefes de millar y de cien, fue 16.750 siclos. | 52 And all the gold of the offering that they offered to the LORD, from the commanders of thousands and the commanders of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels. |
| 53 Los combatientes habían tomado cada uno su botín. | 53 (The men of war had taken booty, every man for himself.) |
| 54 Pero Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron el oro de los jefes de millar y de cien y lo llevaron a la Tienda del Encuentro, para que sirviera ante Yahveh de memorial en favor de los israelitas. | 54 And Moses and Eleazar the priest received the gold from the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tent of meeting, as a memorial for the people of Israel before the LORD. |
