Galatians 5

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 Christ set us free, so that we should remain free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be fastenedagain to the yoke of slavery.	1 ועתה עמדו נא בחרות אשר שחרר אתנו המשיח ואל תשובו להלכד בעל העבדות
2 I, Paul, give you my word that if you accept circumcision, Christ wil be of no benefit to you at al .	2 הנה אני פולוס אמר לכם כי אם תמולו לא יועיל לכם המשיח
3 I give my assurance once again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is under obligation tokeep the whole Law;	3 ומעיד אני עוד הפעם בכל איש אשר ימול כי מחיב הוא לשמר את כל התורה
4 once you seek to be reckoned as upright through the Law, then you have separated yourself fromChrist, you have fal en away from grace.	4 נגזרתם מן המשיח אתם המצטדקים בתורה נפלתם מן החסד
5 We are led by the Spirit to wait in the confident hope of saving justice through faith,	5 כי אנחנו ברוח ניחל מתוך האמונה לתקות הצדקה
6 since in Christ Jesus it is not being circumcised or being uncircumcised that can effect anything -- onlyfaith working through love.	6 כי במשיח איננה נחשבת לא המילה ולא הערלה כי אם האמונה הפעלת באהבה
7 You began your race wel ; who came to obstruct you and stop you obeying the truth?	7 היטבתם לרוץ מי חשך אתכם משמע אל האמת
8 It was certainly not any prompting from him who called you!	8 הפתוי הזה איננו מאת הקרא אתכם
9 A pinch of yeast ferments the whole batch.	9 מעט שאר מחמץ הוא את כל העסה
10 But I feel sure that, united in the Lord, you wil not be led astray, and that anyone who makes troublewith you will be condemned, no matter who he is.	10 מבטח אני בכם באדון שלא תהיה רוח אחרת עמכם והעכר אתכם ישא את עונו יהיה מי שיהיה
11 And I, brothers -- if I were stil preaching circumcision, why should I still be persecuted? For then theobstacle which is the cross would have no point any more.	11 ואני אחי אם אכריז עוד המילה על מה אהיה נרדף הלא אז מבטל מכשול הצלב
12 I could wish that those who are unsettling you would go further and mutilate themselves.	12 מי יתן ויכרתו המדיחים אתכם
13 After al , brothers, you were called to be free; do not use your freedom as an opening for self-indulgence, but be servants to one another in love,	13 כי אתם אחי לחרות נקראתם ובלבד שלא תהיה החרות תאנה לבשר אלא שתעבדו איש את רעהו באהבה
14 since the whole of the Law is summarised in the one commandment: You must love your neighbour asyourself.	14 כי כל התורה כלולה במצוה אחת והיא ואהבת לרעך כמוך
15 If you go snapping at one another and tearing one another to pieces, take care: you will be eaten up byone another.	15 אבל אם תנשכו ותאכלו איש את אחיו ראו פן תכלו איש על ידי רעהו
16 Instead, I tel you, be guided by the Spirit, and you wil no longer yield to self-indulgence.	16 והנני אמר התהלכו ברוח ולא תמלאו את תאות הבשר
17 The desires of self-indulgence are always in opposition to the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are inopposition to self-indulgence: they are opposites, one against the other; that is how you are prevented fromdoing the things that you want to.	17 כי הבשר מתאוה הפך מן הרוח והרוח הפך מן הבשר ושניהם מתקוממים זה לזה עד שלא תוכלו לעשות את אשר תחפצו
18 But when you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.	18 ואם תנהגו על ידי הרוח אז אינכם תחת התורה
19 When self-indulgence is at work the results are obvious: sexual vice, impurity, and sensuality,	19 וגלוים הם פעלי הבשר אשר הם נאוף זנות טמאה וזמה
20 the worship of false gods and sorcery; antagonisms and rivalry, jealousy, bad temper and quarrels,disagreements,	20 עבודת אלילים וכשוף איבות ומצות וקנאה ורגז מריבות מחלקות וכתות
21 factions and malice, drunkenness, orgies and al such things. And about these, I tel you now as I havetold you in the past, that people who behave in these ways wil not inherit the kingdom of God.	21 צרות עין ושפיכות דמים ושרון וזוללות ודומיהן אשר אמר עליהן כמו שאמרתי כבר כי עשי אלה לא ינחלו מלכות האלהים
22 On the other hand the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness,	22 ופרי הרוח אהבה שמחה ושלום ארך רוח ונדיבות וחסד ואמונה
23 gentleness and self-control; no law can touch such things as these.	23 וענוה ופרישות אין תורה לנגד עשי אלה
24 All who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified self with al its passions and its desires.	24 ואשר הם למשיח צלבו את בשרם עם כל תשוקתיו ותאותיו
25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let our behaviour be guided by the Spirit	25 אם נחיה ברוח נתהלכה גם ברוח
26 and let us not be conceited or provocative and envious of one another.	26 ולא נרדף אחרי כבוד שוא להכעיס איש את רעהו ולקנא איש את רעהו
