Galatians 5

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Christ set us free, so that we should remain free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be fastenedagain to the yoke of slavery.	1 Esta es la libertad que nos ha dado Cristo. Manténganse firmes para no caer de nuevo bajo el yugo de la esclavitud.
2 I, Paul, give you my word that if you accept circumcision, Christ wil be of no benefit to you at al .	2 Yo mismo, Pablo, les digo: si ustedes se hacen circuncidar, Cristo no les servirá de nada.
3 I give my assurance once again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is under obligation tokeep the whole Law;	3 Les vuelvo a insistir: todos los que se circuncidan, están obligados a observar íntegramente la Ley.
4 once you seek to be reckoned as upright through the Law, then you have separated yourself fromChrist, you have fal en away from grace.	4 Si ustedes buscan la justicia por medio de la Ley, han roto con Cristo y quedan fuera del dominio de la gracia.
5 We are led by the Spirit to wait in the confident hope of saving justice through faith,	5 Porque a nosotros, el Espíritu, nos hace esperar por la fe los bienes de la justicia.
6 since in Christ Jesus it is not being circumcised or being uncircumcised that can effect anything -- onlyfaith working through love.	6 En efecto, en Cristo Jesús, ya no cuenta la circuncisión ni la incircuncisión, sino la fe que obra por medio del amor.
7 You began your race wel ; who came to obstruct you and stop you obeying the truth?	7 ¡Ustedes andaban tan bien...! ¿Quién les impidió mantenerse fieles a la verdad?
8 It was certainly not any prompting from him who called you!	8 ¡No habrá sido a instancias de aquel que los llama!
9 A pinch of yeast ferments the whole batch.	9 «Un poco de levadura hace fermentar toda la masa».
10 But I feel sure that, united in the Lord, you wil not be led astray, and that anyone who makes troublewith you will be condemned, no matter who he is.	10 Yo espero en el Señor que ustedes no cambiarán de parecer. En cuanto a aquel que los está perturbando, será castigado, sea quien sea.
11 And I, brothers -- if I were stil preaching circumcision, why should I still be persecuted? For then theobstacle which is the cross would have no point any more.	11 Hermanos, si yo predicara todavía la circuncisión, no me perseguirían. ¡Pero entonces, habría terminado el escándalo de la cruz!
12 I could wish that those who are unsettling you would go further and mutilate themselves.	12 En cuanto a los agitadores, ojalá que llegaran hasta la mutilación total.
13 After al , brothers, you were called to be free; do not use your freedom as an opening for self-indulgence, but be servants to one another in love,	13 Ustedes, hermanos, han sido llamados para vivir en libertad, pero procuren que esta libertad no sea un pretexto para satisfacer los deseos carnales» háganse más bien servidores los unos de los otros, por medio del amor.
14 since the whole of the Law is summarised in the one commandment: You must love your neighbour asyourself.	14 Porque toda la Ley está resumida plenamente en este precepto: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.
15 If you go snapping at one another and tearing one another to pieces, take care: you will be eaten up byone another.	15 Pero si ustedes se están mordiendo y devorando mutuamente, tengan cuidado porque terminarán destruyéndose los unos a los otros.
16 Instead, I tel you, be guided by the Spirit, and you wil no longer yield to self-indulgence.	16 Yo los exhorto a que se dejen conducir por el Espíritu de Dios, y así no serán arrastrados por los deseos de la carne.
17 The desires of self-indulgence are always in opposition to the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are inopposition to self-indulgence: they are opposites, one against the other; that is how you are prevented fromdoing the things that you want to.	17 Porque la carne desea contra el espíritu y el espíritu contra la carne. Ambos luchan entre sí, y por eso, ustedes no pueden hacer todo el bien que quieren.
18 But when you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.	18 Pero si están animados por el Espíritu, ya no están sometidos a la Ley.
19 When self-indulgence is at work the results are obvious: sexual vice, impurity, and sensuality,	19 Se sabe muy bien cuáles son las obras de la carne: fornicación, impureza y libertinaje,
20 the worship of false gods and sorcery; antagonisms and rivalry, jealousy, bad temper and quarrels,disagreements,	20 idolatría y superstición, enemistades y peleas, rivalidades y violencias, ambiciones y discordias, sectarismos, disensiones
21 factions and malice, drunkenness, orgies and al such things. And about these, I tel you now as I havetold you in the past, that people who behave in these ways wil not inherit the kingdom of God.	21 y envidias, ebriedades y orgías, y todos los excesos de esta naturaleza. Les vuelvo a repetir que los que hacen estas cosas no poseerán el Reino de Dios.
22 On the other hand the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness,	22 Por el contrario, el fruto del Espíritu es: amor, alegría y paz, magnanimidad, afabilidad, bondad y confianza,
23 gentleness and self-control; no law can touch such things as these.	23 mansedumbre y temperancia. Frente a estas cosas, la Ley está demás,
24 All who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified self with al its passions and its desires.	24 porque los que pertenecen a Cristo Jesús han crucificado la carne con sus pasiones y sus malos deseos.
25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let our behaviour be guided by the Spirit	25 Si vivimos animados por el Espíritu, dejémonos conducir también por él.
26 and let us not be conceited or provocative and envious of one another.	26 No busquemos la vanagloria, provocándonos los unos a los otros y envidiándonos mutuamente.
