1 Corinthians 11

1 Take me as your pattern, just as I take Christ for mine.	1 Siate miei imitatori, come io lo sono di Cristo.
2 I congratulate you for remembering me so consistently and for maintaining the traditions exactly as Ipassed them on to you.	2 Vi lodo, o fratelli, perchè in ogni occasione vi ricordate di me e ritenete tali e quali le istruzioni che vi ho date.
3 But I should like you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man,and the head of Christ is God.	3 Voglio però farvi notare che capo d'ogni uomo è Cristo, capo della donna è l'uomo, e capo di Cristo è Dio.
4 For any man to pray or to prophesy with his head covered shows disrespect for his head.	4 Ogni uomo che prega o profetizza a capo coperto, fa disonore al suo capo;
5 And for a woman to pray or prophesy with her head uncovered shows disrespect for her head; it isexactly the same as if she had her hair shaved off.	5 così ogni donna che prega o profetizza a capo scoperto, fa disonore al suo capo, perchè è come se fosse rasa.
6 Indeed, if a woman does go without a veil, she should have her hair cut off too; but if it is a shamefulthing for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved off, then she should wear a veil.	6 Or se la donna non porta il velo, si faccia anche tagliare i capelli, e se è per lei vergognoso l'essere tosata o rasa, copra la sua testa.
7 But for a man it is not right to have his head covered, since he is the image of God and reflects God'sglory; but woman is the reflection of man's glory.	7 L'uomo non deve coprire la sua testa, perchè è imagine e gloria di Dio; mentre la donna è la gloria dell'uomo;
8 For man did not come from woman; no, woman came from man;	8 infatti non è venuto l'uomo dalla donna, ma la donna dall'uomo;
9 nor was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man:	9 e non fu creato l'uomo per la donna, ma la donna per l'uomo.
10 and this is why it is right for a woman to wear on her head a sign of the authority over her, becauseof the angels.	10 Deve quindi la donna avere sopra il capo il segno della dipendenza, per riguardo degli Angeli.
11 However, in the Lord, though woman is nothing without man, man is nothing without woman;	11 Tuttavia nè l'uomo può far senza la donna, nè la donna senza l'uomo, secondo il Signore;
12 and though woman came from man, so does every man come from a woman, and everything comesfrom God.	12 Infatti come la donna vien dall'uomo, cosi l'uomo nasce dalla donna, e tutto vien da Dio.
13 Decide for yourselves: does it seem fitting that a woman should pray to God without a veil?	13 Giudicatene voi stessi: è decente che una donna preghi Dio non velata?
14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,	14 E la stessa natura non ve lo insegna che per l'uomo è indecente portare una lunga capigliatura,
15 but when a woman has long hair, it is her glory? After all, her hair was given to her to be a covering.	15 mentre una lunga capigliatura è a gloria d'una donna, perchè i capelli le sono stati dati per velo?
16 If anyone wants to be contentious, I say that we have no such custom, nor do any of the churches ofGod.	16 Che se ad alcuno piacesse opporsi, noi non abbiamo tal uso, nè lo ha la Chiesa di Dio.
17 Now that I am on the subject of instructions, I cannot congratulate you on the meetings you hold;they do more harm than good.	17 Or vi devo avvertire, senza lodarvi, che vi adunate, non solo senza profitto, ma con iscapito.
18 In the first place, I hear that when you al come together in your assembly, there are separatefactions among you, and to some extent I believe it.	18 Prima di tutto sento che allorquando vi radunate nella chiesa, ci son delle divisioni tra di voi; e in parte ci credo;
19 It is no bad thing, either, that there should be differing groups among you so that those who are to betrusted among you can be clearly recognised.	19 è necessario infatti che ci siano anche delle eresie, affinchè tra voi si possan conoscere quelli di virtù provata.
20 So, when you meet together, it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat;	20 Quando voi dunque vi radunate, quello non è un mangiar la cena del Signore.
21 for when the eating begins, each one of you has his own supper first, and there is one going hungrywhile another is getting drunk.	21 Infatti ciascuno mangia avanti la sua cena, e uno patisce la fame, mentre l'altro è briaco.
22 Surely you have homes for doing your eating and drinking in? Or have you such disregard for God'sassembly that you can put to shame those who have nothing? What am I to say to you? Congratulate you? Onthis I cannot congratulate you.	22 Ma non oi avete le case per mangiare e bere? O volete disprezzare la chiesa, e fare arrossire quelli che non hanno nulla? Che devo dirvi? Lodarvi? In questo no, davvero.
23 For the tradition I received from the Lord and also handed on to you is that on the night he wasbetrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread,	23 Perchè io l'ho ricevuto dal Signore quello che ho insegnato a voi, che il Signore Gesù, nella notte in cui era tradito, prese del pane
24 and after he had given thanks, he broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this inremembrance of me.'	24 e, dopo aver rese le grazie, lo spezzò e disse: Prendete e mangiate; questo è il mio corpo, che sarà dato a morte per voi: fate questo in memoria di me.
25 And in the same way, with the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood.Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me.'	25 Parimenti, dopo aver cenato, prese anche il calice, dicendo: Questo calice è il nuovo testamento nel mio sangue: fate questo, tutte le volte che ne berrete, in memoria di me.
26 Whenever you eat this bread, then, and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death until hecomes.	26 Or dunque, tutte le volte che mangerete questo pane e berrete questo calice, annunzierete la morte del Signore, finché egli non venga.
27 Therefore anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily is answerable for thebody and blood of the Lord.	27 Pertanto chiunque mangerà questo pane o berrà il calice del Signore indegnamente, sarà reo del corpo e del sangue del Signore.
28 Everyone is to examine himself and only then eat of the bread or drink from the cup;	28 Provi dunque ciascuno se stesso, e così mangi di quel pane e beva di quel calice;
29 because a person who eats and drinks without recognising the body is eating and drinking his owncondemnation.	29 perchè chi ne mangia e ne beve indegnamente, mangia e beve la sua condanna, non distinguendo il corpo del Signore.
30 That is why many of you are weak and il and a good number have died.	30 Ecco perchè tra voi ci son molti malati e deboli e ne muoion parecchi.
31 If we were critical of ourselves we would not be condemned,	31 Se da noi stessi ci si giudicasse, non si sarebbe certamente giudicati.
32 but when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected by the Lord to save us from being condemnedalong with the world.	32 Invece siam giudicati dal Signore, e castigati, per non esser condannati con questo mondo.
33 So then, my brothers, when you meet for the Meal, wait for each other;	33 Quando dunque, o fratelli, vi adunate per mangiare, aspettatevi gli uni gli altri;
34 anyone who is hungry should eat at home. Then your meeting wil not bring your condemnation. Theother matters I shal arrange when I come.	34 e se qualcuno ha fame, mangi a casa, affinchè non vi raduniate per vostra condanna. In quanto alle altre cose, le regolerò quando verrò da voi.
