1 Corinthians 11

1 Take me as your pattern, just as I take Christ for mine.	1 Suivez mon exemple comme je suis celui du Christ.
2 I congratulate you for remembering me so consistently and for maintaining the traditions exactly as Ipassed them on to you.	2 Je vous félicite parce que vous m’êtes fidèles en tout et vous gardez les traditions que je vous ai transmises.
3 But I should like you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man,and the head of Christ is God.	3 Pourtant j’aimerais vous rappeler que pour tout homme le Christ est la tête, tandis que pour la femme, c’est l’homme qui est la tête - et pour le Christ, Dieu est la tête.
4 For any man to pray or to prophesy with his head covered shows disrespect for his head.	4 Quand l’homme prie ou prophétise avec la tête couverte, il déshonore sa tête.
5 And for a woman to pray or prophesy with her head uncovered shows disrespect for her head; it isexactly the same as if she had her hair shaved off.	5 Mais quand la femme prie ou prophétise sans se couvrir la tête, elle déshonore sa tête: ce n’est pas mieux que de se faire tondre.
6 Indeed, if a woman does go without a veil, she should have her hair cut off too; but if it is a shamefulthing for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved off, then she should wear a veil.	6 Elle ne veut pas se couvrir la tête: qu’elle aille donc se faire tondre! Quelle femme n’aurait honte d’aller les cheveux coupés ou rasés? Alors, qu’elle se couvre la tête.
7 But for a man it is not right to have his head covered, since he is the image of God and reflects God'sglory; but woman is the reflection of man's glory.	7 L’homme n’a pas à se couvrir la tête, car il est l’image et la gloire de Dieu; la femme, par contre, est la gloire de l’homme.
8 For man did not come from woman; no, woman came from man;	8 Car c’est la femme qui vient de l’homme, non l’homme de la femme,
9 nor was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man:	9 et l’homme n’a pas été créé pour la femme mais la femme pour l’homme.
10 and this is why it is right for a woman to wear on her head a sign of the authority over her, becauseof the angels.	10 C’est pourquoi la femme doit garder sur sa tête un signe de sa dépendance; sinon, que penseraient les anges?
11 However, in the Lord, though woman is nothing without man, man is nothing without woman;	11 C’est vrai que, dans le Seigneur, la femme n’existe pas sans l’homme, et l’homme n’existe pas sans la femme,
12 and though woman came from man, so does every man come from a woman, and everything comesfrom God.	12 et si la femme a été tirée de l’homme, l’homme aussi vient de la femme, et tout vient de Dieu.
13 Decide for yourselves: does it seem fitting that a woman should pray to God without a veil?	13 Pensez-y vous-mêmes. Est-ce vraiment convenable quand une femme prie Dieu avec la tête découverte?
14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,	14 L’ordre naturel vous enseigne que c’est une honte pour un homme de porter des cheveux longs.
15 but when a woman has long hair, it is her glory? After all, her hair was given to her to be a covering.	15 Une femme, par contre, est fière de sa coiffure: sa coiffure lui tient lieu de voile.
16 If anyone wants to be contentious, I say that we have no such custom, nor do any of the churches ofGod.	16 Mais maintenant, si quelqu’un aime discuter, qu’il sache que nous n’acceptons pas cette coutume, et pas davantage les Églises de Dieu.
17 Now that I am on the subject of instructions, I cannot congratulate you on the meetings you hold;they do more harm than good.	17 Et puisque je suis en train de faire des reproches, je ne vous félicite pas pour vos rencontres qui vous font plus de mal que de bien.
18 In the first place, I hear that when you al come together in your assembly, there are separatefactions among you, and to some extent I believe it.	18 Tout d’abord on me dit que lorsque vous vous réunissez en Église vous êtes divisés, et je le crois en partie.
19 It is no bad thing, either, that there should be differing groups among you so that those who are to betrusted among you can be clearly recognised.	19 Il faudra qu’un jour on voie chez vous différents partis, et alors on saura sur qui on peut compter chez vous.
20 So, when you meet together, it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat;	20 Donc, quand vous vous réunissez et mangez, cela n’est guère un repas du Seigneur.
21 for when the eating begins, each one of you has his own supper first, and there is one going hungrywhile another is getting drunk.	21 Chacun prend les devants pour manger son propre repas; l’un s’enivre et l’autre reste sur sa faim.
22 Surely you have homes for doing your eating and drinking in? Or have you such disregard for God'sassembly that you can put to shame those who have nothing? What am I to say to you? Congratulate you? Onthis I cannot congratulate you.	22 Vous avez vos maisons: ne pouvez-vous pas manger et boire chez vous? Ou vous moquez-vous de l’Église de Dieu et voulez-vous insulter ceux qui n’ont rien? Que puis-je vous dire? Vous féliciter? Pour cela sûrement pas.
23 For the tradition I received from the Lord and also handed on to you is that on the night he wasbetrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread,	23 Je vous ai moi-même transmis ce que j’avais reçu et qui venait du Seigneur: la nuit où il était livré, le Seigneur Jésus prit du pain,
24 and after he had given thanks, he broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this inremembrance of me.'	24 rendit grâce et le partagea en disant: "Ceci est mon corps donné pour vous, faites ceci en mémoire de moi.”
25 And in the same way, with the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood.Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me.'	25 De même pour le calice après le repas; il dit: "Ce calice est la nouvelle alliance grâce à mon sang. Toutes les fois que vous la boirez, vous le ferez en mémoire de moi.”
26 Whenever you eat this bread, then, and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death until hecomes.	26 Voyez donc: toutes les fois que vous mangez ce pain et buvez ce calice, vous proclamez la mort du Seigneur jusqu’à ce qu’il vienne.
27 Therefore anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily is answerable for thebody and blood of the Lord.	27 Si quelqu’un manque de respect quand il mange le pain ou boit le calice du Seigneur, il pèche contre le corps et le sang du Seigneur.
28 Everyone is to examine himself and only then eat of the bread or drink from the cup;	28 Que chacun donc fasse son examen avant de manger le pain et boire le calice.
29 because a person who eats and drinks without recognising the body is eating and drinking his owncondemnation.	29 Car s’il ne reconnaît pas le corps, il mange et boit sa propre condamnation.
30 That is why many of you are weak and il and a good number have died.	30 C’est d’ailleurs la raison pour laquelle plusieurs d’entre vous sont en mauvaise santé ou sont malades, et quelques-uns sont morts.
31 If we were critical of ourselves we would not be condemned,	31 Si nous faisions notre propre examen, nous ne serions pas jugés.
32 but when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected by the Lord to save us from being condemnedalong with the world.	32 Mais le Seigneur nous juge et nous corrige pour que nous ne soyons pas condamnés avec ce monde.
33 So then, my brothers, when you meet for the Meal, wait for each other;	33 Donc, frères, quand vous vous réunissez pour prendre le repas, attendez-vous les uns les autres.
34 anyone who is hungry should eat at home. Then your meeting wil not bring your condemnation. Theother matters I shal arrange when I come.	34 Celui qui est affamé peut manger chez lui; mais ne vous réunissez pas pour vous mettre en mauvaise situation. Tout le reste, j’y mettrai ordre quand je viendrai.
