1 Corinthians 11

1 Take me as your pattern, just as I take Christ for mine.	1 Nehmt mich zum Vorbild, wie ich Christus zum Vorbild nehme.
2 I congratulate you for remembering me so consistently and for maintaining the traditions exactly as Ipassed them on to you.	2 Ich lobe euch, dass ihr in allem an mich denkt und an den Überlieferungen festhaltet, wie ich sie euch übergeben habe.
3 But I should like you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man,and the head of Christ is God.	3 Ihr sollt aber wissen, dass Christus das Haupt des Mannes ist, der Mann das Haupt der Frau und Gott das Haupt Christi.
4 For any man to pray or to prophesy with his head covered shows disrespect for his head.	4 Wenn ein Mann betet oder prophetisch redet und dabei sein Haupt bedeckt hat, entehrt er sein Haupt.
5 And for a woman to pray or prophesy with her head uncovered shows disrespect for her head; it isexactly the same as if she had her hair shaved off.	5 Eine Frau aber entehrt ihr Haupt, wenn sie betet oder prophetisch redet und dabei ihr Haupt nicht verhüllt. Sie unterscheidet sich dann in keiner Weise von einer Geschorenen.
6 Indeed, if a woman does go without a veil, she should have her hair cut off too; but if it is a shamefulthing for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved off, then she should wear a veil.	6 Wenn eine Frau kein Kopftuch trägt, soll sie sich doch gleich die Haare abschneiden lassen. Ist es aber für eine Frau eine Schande, sich die Haare abschneiden oder sich kahl scheren zu lassen, dann soll sie sich auch verhüllen.
7 But for a man it is not right to have his head covered, since he is the image of God and reflects God'sglory; but woman is the reflection of man's glory.	7 Der Mann darf sein Haupt nicht verhüllen, weil er Abbild und Abglanz Gottes ist; die Frau aber ist der Abglanz des Mannes.
8 For man did not come from woman; no, woman came from man;	8 Denn der Mann stammt nicht von der Frau, sondern die Frau vom Mann.
9 nor was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man:	9 Der Mann wurde auch nicht für die Frau geschaffen, sondern die Frau für den Mann.
10 and this is why it is right for a woman to wear on her head a sign of the authority over her, becauseof the angels.	10 Deswegen soll die Frau mit Rücksicht auf die Engel das Zeichen ihrer Vollmacht auf dem Kopf tragen.
11 However, in the Lord, though woman is nothing without man, man is nothing without woman;	11 Doch im Herrn gibt es weder die Frau ohne den Mann noch den Mann ohne die Frau.
12 and though woman came from man, so does every man come from a woman, and everything comesfrom God.	12 Denn wie die Frau vom Mann stammt, so kommt der Mann durch die Frau zur Welt; alles aber stammt von Gott.
13 Decide for yourselves: does it seem fitting that a woman should pray to God without a veil?	13 Urteilt selber! Gehört es sich, dass eine Frau unverhüllt zu Gott betet?
14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,	14 Lehrt euch nicht schon die Natur, dass es für den Mann eine Schande,
15 but when a woman has long hair, it is her glory? After all, her hair was given to her to be a covering.	15 für die Frau aber eine Ehre ist, lange Haare zu tragen? Denn der Frau ist das Haar als Hülle gegeben.
16 If anyone wants to be contentious, I say that we have no such custom, nor do any of the churches ofGod.	16 Wenn aber einer meint, er müsse darüber streiten: Wir und auch die Gemeinden Gottes kennen einen solchen Brauch nicht.
17 Now that I am on the subject of instructions, I cannot congratulate you on the meetings you hold;they do more harm than good.	17 Wenn ich schon Anweisungen gebe: Das kann ich nicht loben, dass ihr nicht mehr zu eurem Nutzen, sondern zu eurem Schaden zusammenkommt.
18 In the first place, I hear that when you al come together in your assembly, there are separatefactions among you, and to some extent I believe it.	18 Zunächst höre ich, dass es Spaltungen unter euch gibt, wenn ihr als Gemeinde zusammenkommt; zum Teil glaube ich das auch.
19 It is no bad thing, either, that there should be differing groups among you so that those who are to betrusted among you can be clearly recognised.	19 Denn es muss Parteiungen geben unter euch; nur so wird sichtbar, wer unter euch treu und zuverlässig ist.
20 So, when you meet together, it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat;	20 Was ihr bei euren Zusammenkünften tut, ist keine Feier des Herrenmahls mehr;
21 for when the eating begins, each one of you has his own supper first, and there is one going hungrywhile another is getting drunk.	21 denn jeder verzehrt sogleich seine eigenen Speisen, und dann hungert der eine, während der andere schon betrunken ist.
22 Surely you have homes for doing your eating and drinking in? Or have you such disregard for God'sassembly that you can put to shame those who have nothing? What am I to say to you? Congratulate you? Onthis I cannot congratulate you.	22 Könnt ihr denn nicht zu Hause essen und trinken? Oder verachtet ihr die Kirche Gottes? Wollt ihr jene demütigen, die nichts haben? Was soll ich dazu sagen? Soll ich euch etwa loben? In diesem Fall kann ich euch nicht loben.
23 For the tradition I received from the Lord and also handed on to you is that on the night he wasbetrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread,	23 Denn ich habe vom Herrn empfangen, was ich euch dann überliefert habe: Jesus, der Herr, nahm in der Nacht, in der er ausgeliefert wurde, Brot,
24 and after he had given thanks, he broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this inremembrance of me.'	24 sprach das Dankgebet, brach das Brot und sagte: Das ist mein Leib für euch. Tut dies zu meinem Gedächtnis!
25 And in the same way, with the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood.Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me.'	25 Ebenso nahm er nach dem Mahl den Kelch und sprach: Dieser Kelch ist der Neue Bund in meinem Blut. Tut dies, sooft ihr daraus trinkt, zu meinem Gedächtnis!
26 Whenever you eat this bread, then, and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death until hecomes.	26 Denn sooft ihr von diesem Brot esst und aus dem Kelch trinkt, verkündet ihr den Tod des Herrn, bis er kommt.
27 Therefore anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily is answerable for thebody and blood of the Lord.	27 Wer also unwürdig von dem Brot isst und aus dem Kelch des Herrn trinkt, macht sich schuldig am Leib und am Blut des Herrn.
28 Everyone is to examine himself and only then eat of the bread or drink from the cup;	28 Jeder soll sich selbst prüfen; erst dann soll er von dem Brot essen und aus dem Kelch trinken.
29 because a person who eats and drinks without recognising the body is eating and drinking his owncondemnation.	29 Denn wer davon isst und trinkt, ohne zu bedenken, dass es der Leib des Herrn ist, der zieht sich das Gericht zu, indem er isst und trinkt.
30 That is why many of you are weak and il and a good number have died.	30 Deswegen sind unter euch viele schwach und krank und nicht wenige sind schon entschlafen.
31 If we were critical of ourselves we would not be condemned,	31 Gingen wir mit uns selbst ins Gericht, dann würden wir nicht gerichtet.
32 but when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected by the Lord to save us from being condemnedalong with the world.	32 Doch wenn wir jetzt vom Herrn gerichtet werden, dann ist es eine Zurechtweisung, damit wir nicht zusammen mit der Welt verdammt werden.
33 So then, my brothers, when you meet for the Meal, wait for each other;	33 Wenn ihr also zum Mahl zusammenkommt, meine Brüder, wartet aufeinander!
34 anyone who is hungry should eat at home. Then your meeting wil not bring your condemnation. Theother matters I shal arrange when I come.	34 Wer Hunger hat, soll zu Hause essen; sonst wird euch die Zusammenkunft zum Gericht. Weitere Anordnungen werde ich treffen, wenn ich komme.
