1 Corinthians 11

1 Take me as your pattern, just as I take Christ for mine.	1 Fatevi miei imitatori come io lo sono di Cristo.
2 I congratulate you for remembering me so consistently and for maintaining the traditions exactly as Ipassed them on to you.	2 Vi lodo poi perché vi ricordate molto di me, e conservate le tradizioni come ve le ho trasmesse.
3 But I should like you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man,and the head of Christ is God.	3 Voglio però che sappiate che capo di ogni uomo è Cristo, e capo della donna è l'uomo, e capo di Cristo è Dio.
4 For any man to pray or to prophesy with his head covered shows disrespect for his head.	4 Ogni uomo che prega o profetizza con il capo coperto, manca di riguardo al suo capo.
5 And for a woman to pray or prophesy with her head uncovered shows disrespect for her head; it isexactly the same as if she had her hair shaved off.	5 Così ogni donna che prega o profetizza senza velo sul capo, manca di riguardo al suo capo, come se fosse rasa;
6 Indeed, if a woman does go without a veil, she should have her hair cut off too; but if it is a shamefulthing for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved off, then she should wear a veil.	6 che se una donna non si copre, si tagli pure i capelli; ma se è vergogna per una donna tagliarsi i capelli o essere rasa, allora si copra.
7 But for a man it is not right to have his head covered, since he is the image of God and reflects God'sglory; but woman is the reflection of man's glory.	7 L'uomo non deve coprirsi il capo, essendo immagine e gloria di Dio, mentre la donna è gloria dell'uomo.
8 For man did not come from woman; no, woman came from man;	8 Poiché non l'uomo deriva dalla donna, ma la donna dall'uomo;
9 nor was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man:	9 né l'uomo fu creato per la donna, ma la donna per l'uomo.
10 and this is why it is right for a woman to wear on her head a sign of the authority over her, becauseof the angels.	10 Per questo la donna deve portare un segno di dipendenza sul capo, a motivo degli angeli.
11 However, in the Lord, though woman is nothing without man, man is nothing without woman;	11 Tuttavia, nel Signore, né la donna è senza l'uomo, né l'uomo è senza la donna;
12 and though woman came from man, so does every man come from a woman, and everything comesfrom God.	12 se infatti la donna deriva dall'uomo, anche l'uomo ha vita dalla donna, e tutto proviene da Dio.
13 Decide for yourselves: does it seem fitting that a woman should pray to God without a veil?	13 Giudicatene voi stessi: è conveniente che una donna faccia preghiera a Dio col capo scoperto?
14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,	14 E non ci insegna la natura stessa che è indecoroso per un uomo lasciarsi crescere i capelli,
15 but when a woman has long hair, it is her glory? After all, her hair was given to her to be a covering.	15 mentre è onorifico per una donna lasciarseli crescere? La chioma è data a lei a guisa di velo.
16 If anyone wants to be contentious, I say that we have no such custom, nor do any of the churches ofGod.	16 Che se alcuno vuole contestare, noi non abbiamo questa consuetudine e neanche le chiese di Dio.
17 Now that I am on the subject of instructions, I cannot congratulate you on the meetings you hold;they do more harm than good.	17 E mentre vi do questi ordini, non posso lodarvi, perché le vostre riunioni non sono per vostro vantaggio, ma per vostro danno.
18 In the first place, I hear that when you al come together in your assembly, there are separatefactions among you, and to some extent I believe it.	18 Sento innanzi tutto che, quando vi radunate in assemblea, vi sono divisioni tra voi; e in parte lo credo.
19 It is no bad thing, either, that there should be differing groups among you so that those who are to betrusted among you can be clearly recognised.	19 E' necessario infatti che avvengano anche divisioni tra di voi, affinché si manifestino quelli che sono di virtù provata in mezzo a voi.
20 So, when you meet together, it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat;	20 Quando dunque vi radunate insieme, il vostro non è un mangiare la cena del Signore.
21 for when the eating begins, each one of you has his own supper first, and there is one going hungrywhile another is getting drunk.	21 Infatti ciascuno, partecipando alla cena, mangia prima il proprio pasto, e così l'uno ha fame e l'altro è ubriaco.
22 Surely you have homes for doing your eating and drinking in? Or have you such disregard for God'sassembly that you can put to shame those who have nothing? What am I to say to you? Congratulate you? Onthis I cannot congratulate you.	22 Non avete forse le vostre case per mangiare e bere? O volete gettare il disprezzo sulla chiesa di Dio e fare arrossire chi non ha niente? Che debbo dirvi? Devo lodarvi? In questo non vi lodo!
23 For the tradition I received from the Lord and also handed on to you is that on the night he wasbetrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread,	23 Io ho ricevuto dal Signore quello che vi ho trasmesso: che il Signore Gesù, nella notte in cui fu tradito, prese del pane
24 and after he had given thanks, he broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this inremembrance of me.'	24 e, reso grazie, lo spezzò e disse: "Questo è il mio corpo, che è per voi; fate questo in memoria di me".
25 And in the same way, with the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood.Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me.'	25 Allo stesso modo, dopo avere cenato, prese anche il calice dicendo: "Questo calice è la nuova alleanza nel mio sangue; fate questo, tutte le volte che ne berrete, in memoria di me".
26 Whenever you eat this bread, then, and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death until hecomes.	26 Quindi tutte le volte che voi mangiate questo pane e bevete a questo calice, annunziate la morte del Signore, finché egli venga.
27 Therefore anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily is answerable for thebody and blood of the Lord.	27 Perciò chiunque mangia il pane o beve al calice del Signore indegnamente, è reo del corpo e del sangue del Signore.
28 Everyone is to examine himself and only then eat of the bread or drink from the cup;	28 Ciascuno esamini se stesso e poi mangi il pane e beva il calice;
29 because a person who eats and drinks without recognising the body is eating and drinking his owncondemnation.	29 perché chi mangia e beve senza discernere il corpo, mangia e beve la sua condanna.
30 That is why many of you are weak and il and a good number have died.	30 E' per questo che tra voi vi sono molti malati e infermi e un buon numero sono morti.
31 If we were critical of ourselves we would not be condemned,	31 Che se ci esaminassimo noi stessi, non verremmo giudicati;
32 but when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected by the Lord to save us from being condemnedalong with the world.	32 ma, messi sull'avviso dal Signore, veniamo corretti, per non essere poi condannati insieme al mondo.
33 So then, my brothers, when you meet for the Meal, wait for each other;	33 Quindi, o miei fratelli, quando vi radunate per la cena, aspettatevi gli uni gli altri.
34 anyone who is hungry should eat at home. Then your meeting wil not bring your condemnation. Theother matters I shal arrange when I come.	34 E se qualcuno ha fame, mangi a casa, onde non vi raduniate per vostra condanna. Quanto al resto darò disposizioni quando verrò.
