1 Corinthians 11

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Take me as your pattern, just as I take Christ for mine.	1 Sigan mi ejemplo, así como yo sigo el ejemplo de Cristo.
2 I congratulate you for remembering me so consistently and for maintaining the traditions exactly as Ipassed them on to you.	2 Los felicito porque siempre se acuerdan de mí y guardan las tradiciones tal como yo se las he transmitido.
3 But I should like you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man,and the head of Christ is God.	3 Sin embargo, quiero que sepan esto: Cristo es la cabeza del hombre; la cabeza de la mujer es el hombre y la cabeza de Cristo es Dios.
4 For any man to pray or to prophesy with his head covered shows disrespect for his head.	4 En consecuencia, el hombre que ora o profetiza con la cabeza cubierta deshonra a su cabeza;
5 And for a woman to pray or prophesy with her head uncovered shows disrespect for her head; it isexactly the same as if she had her hair shaved off.	5 y la mujer que ora o profetiza con la cabeza descubierta deshonra a su cabeza, exactamente como si estuviera rapada.
6 Indeed, if a woman does go without a veil, she should have her hair cut off too; but if it is a shamefulthing for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved off, then she should wear a veil.	6 Si una mujer no se cubre con el velo, que se corte el cabello. Pero si es deshonroso para una mujer cortarse el cabello o raparse, que se ponga el velo.
7 But for a man it is not right to have his head covered, since he is the image of God and reflects God'sglory; but woman is the reflection of man's glory.	7 El hombre, no debe cubrir su cabeza, porque él es la imagen y el reflejo de Dios, mientras que la mujer es el reflejo del hombre.
8 For man did not come from woman; no, woman came from man;	8 En efecto, no es el hombre el que procede de la mujer, sino la mujer del hombre;
9 nor was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man:	9 ni fue creado el hombre a causa de la mujer, sino la mujer a causa del hombre.
10 and this is why it is right for a woman to wear on her head a sign of the authority over her, becauseof the angels.	10 Por esta razón, la mujer debe tener sobre su cabeza un signo de sujeción, por respeto a los ángeles.
11 However, in the Lord, though woman is nothing without man, man is nothing without woman;	11 Por supuesto que para el Señor, la mujer no existe sin el hombre ni el hombre sin la mujer.
12 and though woman came from man, so does every man come from a woman, and everything comesfrom God.	12 Porque si la mujer procede del hombre, a su vez, el hombre nace de la mujer y todo procede de Dios.
13 Decide for yourselves: does it seem fitting that a woman should pray to God without a veil?	13 Juzguen por ustedes mismos: ¿Les parece conveniente que la mujer ore con la cabeza descubierta?
14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,	14 ¿Acaso la misma naturaleza no nos enseña que es una vergüenza para el hombre dejarse el cabello largo,
15 but when a woman has long hair, it is her glory? After all, her hair was given to her to be a covering.	15 mientras que para la mujer es una gloria llevarlo así? Porque la cabellera le ha sido dada a manera de velo.
16 If anyone wants to be contentious, I say that we have no such custom, nor do any of the churches ofGod.	16 Por lo demás, si alguien es amigo de discusiones, le advertimos que entre nosotros se acostumbra usar el velo y también en las Iglesias de Dios.
17 Now that I am on the subject of instructions, I cannot congratulate you on the meetings you hold;they do more harm than good.	17 Y ya que les hago esta advertencia, no puedo felicitarlos por sus reuniones, que en lugar de beneficiarlos, los perjudican.
18 In the first place, I hear that when you al come together in your assembly, there are separatefactions among you, and to some extent I believe it.	18 Ante todo, porque he oído decir que cuando celebran sus asambleas, hay divisiones entre ustedes, y en parte lo creo.
19 It is no bad thing, either, that there should be differing groups among you so that those who are to betrusted among you can be clearly recognised.	19 Sin embargo, es preciso que se formen partidos entre ustedes, para se pongan de manifiesto los que tienen verdadera virtud.
20 So, when you meet together, it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat;	20 Cuando se reúnen, lo que menos hacen es comer la Cena del Señor,
21 for when the eating begins, each one of you has his own supper first, and there is one going hungrywhile another is getting drunk.	21 porque apenas se sientan a la mesa, cada uno se apresura a comer su propia comida, y mientras uno pasa hambre, el otro se pone ebrio.
22 Surely you have homes for doing your eating and drinking in? Or have you such disregard for God'sassembly that you can put to shame those who have nothing? What am I to say to you? Congratulate you? Onthis I cannot congratulate you.	22 ¿Acaso no tienen sus casas para comer y beber? ¿O tan poco aprecio tienen a la Iglesia de Dios, que quieren hacer pasar vergüenza a los que no tienen nada? ¿Qué les diré? ¿Los voy a alabar? En esto, no puedo alabarlos.
23 For the tradition I received from the Lord and also handed on to you is that on the night he wasbetrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread,	23 Lo que yo recibí del Señor, y a mi vez les he transmitido, es lo siguiente: El Señor Jesús, la noche en que fue entregado, tomó el pan,
24 and after he had given thanks, he broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this inremembrance of me.'	24 dio gracias, lo partió y dijo: «Esto es mi Cuerpo, que se entrega por ustedes. Hagan esto en memoria mía».
25 And in the same way, with the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood.Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me.'	25 De la misma manera, después de cenar, tomó la copa, diciendo: «Esta copa es la Nueva Alianza que se sella con mi Sangre. Siempre que la beban, háganlo en memora mía».
26 Whenever you eat this bread, then, and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death until hecomes.	26 Y así, siempre que coman este pan y beban esta copa, proclamarán la muerte del Señor hasta que él vuelva.
27 Therefore anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily is answerable for thebody and blood of the Lord.	27 Por eso, el que coma el pan o beba la copa del Señor indignamente tendrá que dar cuenta del Cuerpo y de la Sangre del Señor.
28 Everyone is to examine himself and only then eat of the bread or drink from the cup;	28 Que cada uno se examine a sí mismo antes de comer este pan y beber esta copa;
29 because a person who eats and drinks without recognising the body is eating and drinking his owncondemnation.	29 porque si come y bebe sin discernir el Cuerpo del Señor, come y bebe su propia condenación.
30 That is why many of you are weak and il and a good number have died.	30 Por eso, entre ustedes hay muchos enfermos y débiles, y son muchos los que han muerto.
31 If we were critical of ourselves we would not be condemned,	31 Si nos examináramos a nosotros mismos, no seríamos condenados.
32 but when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected by the Lord to save us from being condemnedalong with the world.	32 Pero el Señor nos juzga y nos corrige para que no seamos condenados con el mundo.
33 So then, my brothers, when you meet for the Meal, wait for each other;	33 Así, hermanos, cuando se reúnan para participar de la Cena, espérense unos a otros.
34 anyone who is hungry should eat at home. Then your meeting wil not bring your condemnation. Theother matters I shal arrange when I come.	34 Y si alguien tiene hambre, que coma en su casa, para que sus asambleas no sean motivo de condenación. Lo demás lo arreglaré cuando vaya.
