1 Corinthians 11

1 Take me as your pattern, just as I take Christ for mine.	1 - Siate imitatori miei, come anch'io sono di Cristo.
2 I congratulate you for remembering me so consistently and for maintaining the traditions exactly as Ipassed them on to you.	2 Vi lodo poi, fratelli, perchè in ogni cosa vi ricordate di me, e ritenete, come ve le ho date, le istruzioni mie.
3 But I should like you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man,and the head of Christ is God.	3 Voglio però che sappiate, che d'ogni uomo il capo è Cristo, e che il capo della moglie è il marito, e il capo di Cristo è Dio.
4 For any man to pray or to prophesy with his head covered shows disrespect for his head.	4 Qualunque uomo preghi o profetizzi avendo la testa coperta, disonora il suo capo;
5 And for a woman to pray or prophesy with her head uncovered shows disrespect for her head; it isexactly the same as if she had her hair shaved off.	5 e qualunque donna preghi o profetizzi senza velo sulla testa, disonora il suo capo,
6 Indeed, if a woman does go without a veil, she should have her hair cut off too; but if it is a shamefulthing for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved off, then she should wear a veil.	6 poichè, se non si vela la donna, si tagli anche i capelli; e se è turpe per la donna il tagliarsi i capelli e radersi, si veli dunque.
7 But for a man it is not right to have his head covered, since he is the image of God and reflects God'sglory; but woman is the reflection of man's glory.	7 L'uomo no, non deve coprir di velo la testa, essendo immagine e gloria di Dio; e la donna è gloria dell'uomo.
8 For man did not come from woman; no, woman came from man;	8 Poichè non viene l'uomo dalla donna, ma la donna dall'uomo,
9 nor was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man:	9 nè fu fatto l'uomo per la donna, ma la donna per l'uomo.
10 and this is why it is right for a woman to wear on her head a sign of the authority over her, becauseof the angels.	10 Per questo deve la donna aver sulla testa il segno della sua dipendenza, per via degli angeli.
11 However, in the Lord, though woman is nothing without man, man is nothing without woman;	11 Però nel Signore, nè la donna è indipendente dall'uomo, nè l'uomo può essere senza la donna;
12 and though woman came from man, so does every man come from a woman, and everything comesfrom God.	12 poichè come la donna è dell'uomo così l'uomo [nasce] per mezzo della donna, e tutto è da Dio.
13 Decide for yourselves: does it seem fitting that a woman should pray to God without a veil?	13 Giudicatene voi stessi; è decoroso che donna senza velo rivolga preghiera a Dio?
14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,	14 Non insegna la natura stessa, che se l'uomo porta lunghi capelli, è per lui disonore,
15 but when a woman has long hair, it is her glory? After all, her hair was given to her to be a covering.	15 e per la donna invece la capigliatura è gloria? giacchè la chioma a lei è stata data in luogo di velo.
16 If anyone wants to be contentious, I say that we have no such custom, nor do any of the churches ofGod.	16 Se poi qualcuno si compiace a contendere, noi siffatto costume non l'abbiamo, neanche le Chiese di Dio.
17 Now that I am on the subject of instructions, I cannot congratulate you on the meetings you hold;they do more harm than good.	17 Dichiaro poi questo, a biasimo non a lode, che voi vi radunate non per il meglio ma per far peggio.
18 In the first place, I hear that when you al come together in your assembly, there are separatefactions among you, and to some extent I believe it.	18 Prima di tutto, quando vi adunate in chiesa, sento che vi son tra voi delle divisioni; e in parte ci credo;
19 It is no bad thing, either, that there should be differing groups among you so that those who are to betrusted among you can be clearly recognised.	19 bisogna bene vi siano tra voi dei partiti, perchè diventino riconoscibili quelli degni d'approvazione.
20 So, when you meet together, it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat;	20 Radunandovi dunque assieme, non è che mangiate la cena del Signore;
21 for when the eating begins, each one of you has his own supper first, and there is one going hungrywhile another is getting drunk.	21 poichè ciascuno s'affretta a prendere e consumare la propria cena, e c'è chi patisce la fame e chi invece si ubriaca.
22 Surely you have homes for doing your eating and drinking in? Or have you such disregard for God'sassembly that you can put to shame those who have nothing? What am I to say to you? Congratulate you? Onthis I cannot congratulate you.	22 O non avete le vostre case per mangiare e bere? Avete forse in dispregio la Chiesa di Dio, e volete fare arrossire quelli che non possedon nulla? Che vi ho a dire? vi loderò di ciò? no, in questo non vi lodo.
23 For the tradition I received from the Lord and also handed on to you is that on the night he wasbetrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread,	23 Poichè quello che io ho trasmesso, anche a voi, l'ho ricevuto dal Signore; e ciò è che il Signore Gesù la notte in cui fu tradito, prese del pane,
24 and after he had given thanks, he broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this inremembrance of me.'	24 e dopo rese grazie a Dio, lo spezzò e disse: «Prendete e mangiate; questo è il mio corpo che sarà immolato per voi; fate questo in ricordo mio».
25 And in the same way, with the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood.Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me.'	25 E parimente, dopo cenato, prese il bicchiere dicendo: «Questo calice è il nuovo patto nel mio sangue, e quante volte ne beviate, fate questo per ricordo di me.
26 Whenever you eat this bread, then, and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death until hecomes.	26 Poichè quante volte voi mangiate questo pane e bevete questo calice, voi rammenterete l'annunzio della morte del Signore, fino a che egli venga».
27 Therefore anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily is answerable for thebody and blood of the Lord.	27 Cosicchè chi mangi il pane o beva il calice del Signore indegnamente, sarà reo del corpo e del sangue del Signore.
28 Everyone is to examine himself and only then eat of the bread or drink from the cup;	28 Esamini ognuno se stesso, e così mangi di quel pane e beva di quel calice;
29 because a person who eats and drinks without recognising the body is eating and drinking his owncondemnation.	29 poichè chi mangia e beve indegnamente, se non riconosce il corpo del Signore, mangia e beve la propria condanna.
30 That is why many of you are weak and il and a good number have died.	30 Per questo vi son tra voi molti deboli e privi d'ogni forza, e tanti giacciono.
31 If we were critical of ourselves we would not be condemned,	31 Se ci esaminassimo bene da per noi stessi, non saremmo condannati;
32 but when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected by the Lord to save us from being condemnedalong with the world.	32 ma giudicati dal Signore siamo castigati per non essere col mondo condannati.
33 So then, my brothers, when you meet for the Meal, wait for each other;	33 Cosicchè, fratelli miei, radunandovi per mangiare, aspettatevi gli uni gli altri.
34 anyone who is hungry should eat at home. Then your meeting wil not bring your condemnation. Theother matters I shal arrange when I come.	34 E se uno ha fame, mangi a casa sua onde non vi raduniate a vostra condanna. Le altre cose poi regolerò alla mia venuta.
