1 Thus, condemnation wil never come to those who are in Christ Jesus,	1 Mais pour ceux qui sont dans le Christ Jésus, cette condamnation n’existe plus.
2 because the law of the Spirit which gives life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin anddeath.	2 Dans le Christ Jésus, la loi de l’Esprit qui est vie t’a délivré de la loi du péché et de la mort.
3 What the Law could not do because of the weakness of human nature, God did, sending his own Sonin the same human nature as any sinner to be a sacrifice for sin, and condemning sin in that human nature.	3 La Loi n’y pouvait rien car la chair ne suivait pas; alors Dieu a envoyé son propre Fils pour faire face au péché; il l’a rendu semblable à cette chair liée au péché et il a condamné le péché dans la chair.
4 This was so that the Law's requirements might be fully satisfied in us as we direct our lives not by ournatural inclinations but by the Spirit.	4 Grâce à cela les exigences de la Loi sont maintenant réalisées en nous qui vivons selon l’Esprit et non plus selon la chair.
5 Those who are living by their natural inclinations have their minds on the things human nature desires;those who live in the Spirit have their minds on spiritual things.	5 Ceux qui vivent selon la chair vont aux choses de la chair, et ceux qui vivent selon l’Esprit vont aux choses de l’Esprit.
6 And human nature has nothing to look forward to but death, while the Spirit looks forward to life andpeace,	6 Mais il n’y a que mort dans les désirs de la chair; par contre, ce que l’esprit désire est vie et paix.
7 because the outlook of disordered human nature is opposed to God, since it does not submit to God'sLaw, and indeed it cannot,	7 Les projets de la chair sont contraires à Dieu, car la chair ne se soumet pas à la loi de Dieu, et elle ne peut pas se soumettre.
8 and those who live by their natural inclinations can never be pleasing to God.	8 C’est pourquoi ceux qui en restent à la chair ne peuvent pas plaire à Dieu.
9 You, however, live not by your natural inclinations, but by the Spirit, since the Spirit of God has made ahome in you. Indeed, anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.	9 Pour vous, vous n’êtes plus dans la chair, mais dans l’Esprit puisque l’Esprit de Dieu habite en vous. Si quelqu’un n’avait pas l’Esprit du Christ, il ne lui appartiendrait pas.
10 But when Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin but the spirit is alive because you havebeen justified;	10 Mais le Christ est en vous, et si le corps est mort à cause du péché, l’esprit, est vie, ayant été redressé.
11 and if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead has made his home in you, then he whoraised Christ Jesus from the dead wil give life to your own mortal bodies through his Spirit living in you.	11 Et si l’Esprit de Celui qui a ressuscité Jésus d’entre les morts habite en vous, Celui qui a ressuscité Jésus Christ d’entre les morts, rendra aussi la vie à vos corps mortels, grâce à son Esprit qui habite en vous.
12 So then, my brothers, we have no obligation to human nature to be dominated by it.	12 Donc frères, rompez avec la chair, vous ne devez plus vivre selon la chair.
13 If you do live in that way, you are doomed to die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the habitsoriginating in the body, you will have life.	13 Car si vous vivez selon la chair, il vous faudra mourir, mais si avec l’Esprit vous faites mourir les œuvres du corps, vous vivrez.
14 Al who are guided by the Spirit of God are sons of God;	14 Vous le savez, tous ceux qui sont conduits par l’Esprit de Dieu sont fils et filles de Dieu.
15 for what you received was not the spirit of slavery to bring you back into fear; you received the Spiritof adoption, enabling us to cry out, 'Abba, Father!'	15 Alors, finie la crainte: vous n’avez pas reçu un esprit d’esclaves mais un esprit de fils; c’est lui qui nous pousse à appeler: “Papa! Père!”
16 The Spirit himself joins with our spirit to bear witness that we are children of God.	16 L’Esprit assiste notre esprit et lui redit que nous sommes enfants de Dieu.
17 And if we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, provided that weshare his suffering, so as to share his glory.	17 Étant fils, vous êtes héritiers, héritiers de Dieu, ses héritiers avec le Christ. Et quand nous aurons souffert avec lui, nous serons avec lui dans la Gloire.
18 In my estimation, al that we suffer in the present time is nothing in comparison with the glory which isdestined to be disclosed for us,	18 Je pense que ce que nous souffrons pour un temps limité n’a pas de comparaison avec la Gloire qui nous attend et qui doit se manifester.
19 for the whole creation is waiting with eagerness for the children of God to be revealed.	19 Le monde créé attend que les fils et filles de Dieu viennent au grand jour: c’est cela qui ne le laisse pas en repos.
20 It was not for its own purposes that creation had frustration imposed on it, but for the purposes of himwho imposed it-	20 Car si la création actuellement n’a pas d’avenir, cela ne vient pas d’elle mais de celui qui lui a imposé ce destin. Il lui reste cependant une espérance:
21 with the intention that the whole creation itself might be freed from its slavery to corruption andbrought into the same glorious freedom as the children of God.	21 la création aussi cessera de travailler pour ce qui se défait, et recevra sa part de la liberté et de la gloire des enfants de Dieu.
22 We are wel aware that the whole creation, until this time, has been groaning in labour pains.	22 Nous voyons bien que toute la création gémit et souffre comme pour un enfantement.
23 And not only that: we too, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we are groaning insideourselves, waiting with eagerness for our bodies to be set free.	23 Nous-mêmes, qui avons reçu l’Esprit comme une première avance, nous gémissons en nous-mêmes, dans l’attente de nos droits de fils et de la rédemption de notre corps.
24 In hope, we already have salvation; in hope, not visibly present, or we should not be hoping -- nobodygoes on hoping for something which is already visible.	24 Déjà nous sommes sauvés, mais tout reste une espérance, et dès qu’on voit ce qu’on espère, ce n’est plus l’espérance. Comment espérer ce que déjà on voit?
25 But having this hope for what we cannot yet see, we are able to wait for it with perseveringconfidence.	25 Espérons donc sans voir, et nous l’aurons si nous persévérons.
26 And as wel as this, the Spirit too comes to help us in our weakness, for, when we do not know how topray properly, then the Spirit personal y makes our petitions for us in groans that cannot be put into words;	26 Nous sommes faibles, mais l’Esprit vient à notre secours. Comment et pour quoi devons-nous prier? Nous ne le savons pas, mais l’Esprit le demande pour nous sans paroles, comme dans un gémissement.
27 and he who can see into al hearts knows what the Spirit means because the prayers that the Spiritmakes for God's holy people are always in accordance with the mind of God.	27 Et Celui qui scrute les cœurs comprend les ambitions de l’Esprit, car ce à quoi aspire l’Esprit pour les saints est à la mesure de Dieu.
28 We are wel aware that God works with those who love him, those who have been cal ed inaccordance with his purpose, and turns everything to their good.	28 Nous savons que pour ceux qui aiment Dieu, ceux qu’il a choisis et appelés, Dieu se sert de tout pour leur bien.
29 He decided beforehand who were the ones destined to be moulded to the pattern of his Son, so thathe should be the eldest of many brothers;	29 Ceux qu’il a connus d’avance, il les a destinés à être comme son Fils, comme à son image, pour qu’il soit le premier-né au milieu de nombreux frères.
30 it was those so destined that he cal ed; those that he cal ed, he justified, and those that he hasjustified he has brought into glory.	30 Ceux qu’il a ainsi destinés, il les a appelés; ceux qu’il a appelés, il les a faits justes et droits; ceux qu’il a faits justes et droits, il leur a donné la Gloire.
31 After saying this, what can we add? If God is for us, who can be against us?	31 Que dire de plus? Si Dieu est pour nous, qui sera contre nous?
32 Since he did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for the sake of all of us, then can we not expectthat with him he wil freely give us al his gifts?	32 Il n’a même pas épargné son propre Fils, mais il l’a livré pour nous tous. Comment donc ne nous donnera-t-il pas tout le reste avec lui?
33 Who can bring any accusation against those that God has chosen? When God grants saving justice	33 Qui accusera ceux que Dieu appelle? C’est Dieu leur juge.
34 who can condemn? Are we not sure that it is Christ Jesus, who died -- yes and more, who was raised from the dead and is at God's right hand -- and who is adding his plea for us?	34 Qui les condamnera? Le Christ qui est mort et, plus encore, ressuscité, qui est à la droite de Dieu et qui intercède en notre faveur?
35 Can anything cut us off from the love of Christ -- can hardships or distress, or persecution, or lack offood and clothing, or threats or violence;	35 Qui nous enlèvera cet amour du Christ: une catastrophe, une épreuve, une persécution, la faim, le manque de tout, le danger, le glaive?
36 as scripture says: For your sake we are being massacred al day long, treated as sheep to beslaughtered?	36 Il est bien écrit: À cause de toi nous sommes massacrés tout au long du jour, nous sommes traités comme des brebis à l’abattoir.
37 No; we come through al these things triumphantly victorious, by the power of him who loved us.	37 Mais au milieu de tout, nous restons les vainqueurs grâce à celui qui nous aime.
38 For I am certain of this: neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nothing already inexistence and nothing stil to come, nor any power,	38 Je sais que ni la mort, ni la vie, ni les anges, ni les forces du monde, ni le présent, ni le futur,
39 nor the heights nor the depths, nor any created thing whatever, wil be able to come between us andthe love of God, known to us in Christ Jesus our Lord.	39 ni les puissances du ciel ou de l’enfer ou quelque autre créature ne peut nous priver de cet amour de Dieu dans le Christ Jésus notre Seigneur.
