On the first day of the week we met for the breaking of bread. Paul was due to leave the next day, andhe preached a sermon that went on til the middle of the night.7 ܘܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܚܕ ܒܫܒܐ ܟܕ ܟܢܝܫܝܢܢ ܕܢܩܨܐ ܐܘܟܪܤܛܝܐ ܡܡܠܠ ܗܘܐ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܦܘܠܘܤ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܝܘܡܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܥܬܝܕ ܗܘܐ ܕܢܦܘܩ ܠܗ ܘܐܓܪ ܗܘܐ ܠܡܡܠܠܘ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܦܠܓܗ ܕܠܠܝܐ ܀

We were now to go on ahead by sea, so we set sail for Assos, where we were to take Paul on board;this was what he had arranged, for he wanted to go overland.13 ܚܢܢ ܕܝܢ ܢܚܬܢ ܠܐܠܦܐ ܘܪܕܝܢ ܠܘܥܕܐ ܕܬܤܘܤ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܥܬܝܕܝܢ ܗܘܝܢ ܕܢܩܒܠܝܘܗܝ ܠܦܘܠܘܤ ܗܟܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܦܩܕ ܗܘܐ ܠܢ ܟܕ ܐܙܠ ܗܘܐ ܗܘ ܒܝܒܫܐ ܀
When he rejoined us at Assos we took him aboard and went on to Mitylene.14
The next day we sailed from there and arrived opposite Chios. The second day we touched at Samosand, after stopping at Trogyllium, made Miletus the next day.15 ܘܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܠܝܘܡܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܪܕܝܢ ܠܘܩܒܠ ܟܝܘܤ ܓܙܪܬܐ ܘܬܘܒ ܠܝܘܡܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܐܬܝܢ ܠܤܡܘܤ ܘܩܘܝܢ ܒܛܪܘܓܠܝܘܢ ܘܠܝܘܡܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܐܬܝܢ ܠܡܝܠܝܛܘܤ ܀
Paul had decided to pass wide of Ephesus so as to avoid spending time in Asia, since he wasanxious to be in Jerusalem, if possible, for the day of Pentecost.16 ܦܤܝܩ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܓܝܪ ܠܦܘܠܘܤ ܕܢܥܒܪܝܗ ܠܐܦܤܘܤ ܕܠܡܐ ܢܫܬܘܚܪ ܠܗ ܬܡܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܤܪܗܒ ܗܘܐ ܕܐܢ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܝܘܡܐ ܕܦܢܛܩܘܤܛܐ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܢܥܒܕܝܘܗܝ ܀
From Miletus he sent for the elders of the church of Ephesus.17
When they arrived he addressed these words to them: 'You know what my way of life has been eversince the first day I set foot among you in Asia,18 ܘܟܕ ܐܬܘ ܠܘܬܗ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܡܢ ܝܘܡܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܕܥܠܬ ܠܐܤܝܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܟܠܗ ܙܒܢܐ ܀
how I have served the Lord in al humility, with al the sorrows and trials that came to me through theplots of the Jews.19 ܟܕ ܦܠܚ ܐܢܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܒܡܟܝܟܘܬܐ ܤܓܝܐܬܐ ܘܒܕܡܥܐ ܘܒܢܤܝܘܢܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܥܕܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܥܠܝ ܒܢܟܠܝܗܘܢ ܕܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܀
I have not hesitated to do anything that would be helpful to you; I have preached to you and instructedyou both in public and in your homes,20 ܘܠܐ ܒܤܝܬ ܒܡܕܡ ܕܦܩܚ ܗܘܐ ܠܢܦܫܬܟܘܢ ܕܐܟܪܙ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܐܠܦ ܒܫܘܩܐ ܘܒܒܬܐ ܀
urging both Jews and Greeks to turn to God and to believe in our Lord Jesus.21 ܟܕ ܡܤܗܕ ܗܘܝܬ ܠܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܘܠܐܪܡܝܐ ܥܠ ܬܝܒܘܬܐ ܕܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܒܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܀
'And now you see me on my way to Jerusalem in captivity to the Spirit; I have no idea what wilhappen to me there,22 ܘܗܫܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܤܝܪ ܐܢܐ ܒܪܘܚܐ ܘܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܡܢܐ ܐܪܥ ܠܝ ܒܗ ܀
except that the Holy Spirit, in town after town, has made it clear to me that imprisonment andpersecution await me.23 ܒܪܡ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ ܒܟܠ ܡܕܝܢܐ ܡܤܗܕ ܠܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܕܐܤܘܪܐ ܘܐܘܠܨܢܐ ܥܬܝܕܝܢ ܠܟ ܀
But I do not place any value on my own life, provided that I complete the mission the Lord Jesus gaveme -- to bear witness to the good news of God's grace.24 ܐܠܐ ܠܝ ܠܐ ܚܫܝܒܐ ܢܦܫܝ ܡܕܡ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܫܠܡ ܪܗܛܝ ܘܬܫܡܫܬܐ ܕܩܒܠܬ ܡܢ ܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܕܐܤܗܕ ܥܠ ܤܒܪܬܐ ܕܛܝܒܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܀
'I now feel sure that none of you among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom wil eversee my face again.25
And so on this very day I swear that my conscience is clear as far as all of you are concerned,26
for I have without faltering put before you the whole of God's purpose.27 ܠܐ ܓܝܪ ܐܫܬܐܠܬ ܕܐܘܕܥܟܘܢ ܟܠܗ ܨܒܝܢܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܀
'Be on your guard for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you theguardians, to feed the Church of God which he bought with the blood of his own Son.28 ܐܙܕܗܪܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܒܢܦܫܟܘܢ ܘܒܟܠܗ ܡܪܥܝܬܐ ܗܝ ܕܐܩܝܡܟܘܢ ܒܗ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ ܐܦܤܩܘܦܐ ܕܬܪܥܘܢ ܠܥܕܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܗܝ ܕܩܢܗ ܒܕܡܗ ܀
'I know quite wel that when I have gone fierce wolves wil invade you and will have no mercy on theflock.29
Even from your own ranks there wil be men coming forward with a travesty of the truth on their lips toinduce the disciples to fol ow them.30 ܘܐܦ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܕܝܠܟܘܢ ܢܩܘܡܘܢ ܓܒܪܐ ܡܡܠܠܝ ܡܥܩܡܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܢܗܦܟܘܢ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܕܢܐܙܠܘܢ ܒܬܪܗܘܢ ܀
So be on your guard, remembering how night and day for three years I never slackened in counsel ingeach one of you with tears.31 ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܥܝܪܝܢ ܘܥܗܝܕܝܢ ܕܫܢܝܐ ܬܠܬ ܠܐ ܫܠܝܬ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܘܒܐܝܡܡܐ ܟܕ ܒܕܡܥܐ ܡܪܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܐܢܫ ܐܢܫ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܀
And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace that has power to build you up and togive you your inheritance among all the sanctified.32 ܘܗܫܐ ܡܓܥܠ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܘܠܡܠܬܐ ܕܛܝܒܘܬܗ ܕܗܝ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܒܢܝܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܝܗܒܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܝܘܪܬܢܐ ܥܡ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܀
'I have never asked anyone for money or clothes;33
you know for yourselves that these hands of mine earned enough to meet my needs and those of mycompanions.34 ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܠܤܢܝܩܘܬܝ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܥܡܝ ܫܡܫ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܝܕܝ ܀
By every means I have shown you that we must exert ourselves in this way to support the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, who himself said, "There is more happiness in giving than inreceiving."
When he had finished speaking he knelt down with them all and prayed.36
By now they were all in tears; they put their arms round Paul's neck and kissed him;37 ܘܗܘܬ ܒܟܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܒܟܠܗܘܢ ܘܥܦܩܘܗܝ ܘܡܢܫܩܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܀
what saddened them most was his saying they would never see his face again. Then they escortedhim to the ship.38 ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܕܝܢ ܡܫܬܢܩܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܥܠ ܗܝ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܕܠܐ ܬܘܒ ܥܬܝܕܝܢ ܕܢܚܙܘܢ ܦܪܨܘܦܗ ܘܠܘܝܘܗܝ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܐܠܦܐ ܀
