1 When the disturbance was over, Paul sent for the disciples and, after speaking words ofencouragement to them, said good -- bye and set out for Macedonia.	1 ואחרי אשר שקטה המהומה קרא פולוס לתלמידים ויברכם ויצא ללכת אל מקדוניא
2 On his way through those areas he said many words of encouragement to them and then made hisway into Greece,	2 ויעבר במדינות ההן ויזהר אתם בדברים רבים ויבא אל ארץ יון
3 where he spent three months. He was leaving by ship for Syria when a plot organised against him bythe Jews made him decide to go back by way of Macedonia.	3 וישב שם שלשה חדשים ויהי באמרו ללכת אל סוריא ויארבו לו היהודים ויגמר בלבו לשוב דרך מקדוניא
4 He was accompanied by Sopater, son of Pyrrhus, who came from Beroea; Aristarchus and Secunduswho came from Thessalonica; Gaius from Derbe, and Timothy, as well as Tychicus and Trophimus who werefrom Asia.	4 וילכו אתו עד לאסיא סופטרוס הברואי ומן התסלוניקים ארסטרכוס וסקונדוס וגיוס הדרבי וטימותיוס ומן אסיא טוכיקוס וטרופימוס
5 They al went on to Troas where they waited for us.	5 ואלה הלכו לפנינו ויוחילו לנו בטרואס
6 We ourselves left Philippi by ship after the days of Unleavened Bread and joined them five days later atTroas, where we stayed for a week.	6 ואנחנו יצאנו מן פילפי אחרי ימי חג המצות ומקץ חמשה ימים באנו באניה אליהם אל טרואס ונשב שם שבעת ימים
7 On the first day of the week we met for the breaking of bread. Paul was due to leave the next day, andhe preached a sermon that went on til the middle of the night.	7 ויהי באחד בשבת כאשר נאספו התלמידים לבצע הלחם וידבר אתם פולוס כי אמר ללכת משם למחרת היום ויארך הדבר עד חצות הלילה
8 A number of lamps were lit in the upstairs room where we were assembled,	8 ונרות רבים היו בעליה אשר נאספנו שם
9 and as Paul went on and on, a young man called Eutychus who was sitting on the window-sil grewdrowsy and was overcome by sleep and fel to the ground three floors below. He was picked up dead.	9 ובחור אחד שמו אבטוכוס ישב בחלון וירדם בהאריך פולוס את אמרתו ותגבר עליו שנתו ויפל מהמדור השלישי למטה וישאהו מת
10 Paul went down and stooped to clasp the boy to him, saying, 'There is no need to worry, there is stillife in him.'	10 וירד פולוס ויגהר עליו ויחבקהו ויאמר אל תבהלו כי נשמתו בו
11 Then he went back upstairs where he broke the bread and ate and carried on talking til he left atdaybreak.	11 ואחר עלה ויבצע הלחם ויטעם וירב לשיח אתם עד אור הבקר ויצא ללכת לדרכו
12 They took the boy away alive, and were greatly encouraged.	12 והם הביאו את הנער חי וינחמו עד מאד
13 We were now to go on ahead by sea, so we set sail for Assos, where we were to take Paul on board;this was what he had arranged, for he wanted to go overland.	13 ואנחנו קדמנו לרדת באניה ונעבר אסוסה למען נקח שם אתנו את פולוס כי כן צוה והוא חשב בלבו ללכת שמה ברגליו
14 When he rejoined us at Assos we took him aboard and went on to Mitylene.	14 ויפגש אתנו באסוס ונקח אתו ונבא אל מיטוליני
15 The next day we sailed from there and arrived opposite Chios. The second day we touched at Samosand, after stopping at Trogyllium, made Miletus the next day.	15 ומשם יצאנו באניה ונפגע ממחרת אל מול כיוס וביום השלישי עברנו אל סמוס ונלן בטרוגוליון ולמחרתו באנו אל מיליטוס
16 Paul had decided to pass wide of Ephesus so as to avoid spending time in Asia, since he wasanxious to be in Jerusalem, if possible, for the day of Pentecost.	16 כי פולוס אמר לעבר מעל פני אפסוס פן יצטרך להתמהמה באסיא כי אץ לבוא אם יוכל עד חג השבועות ירושלים
17 From Miletus he sent for the elders of the church of Ephesus.	17 וממיליטוס שלח אל אפסוס ויקרא את זקני הקהלה
18 When they arrived he addressed these words to them: 'You know what my way of life has been eversince the first day I set foot among you in Asia,	18 ויבאו אליו ויאמר להם אתם ידעתם איך הייתי עמכם בכל עת מן היום הראשון אשר דרכה רגלי באסיא
19 how I have served the Lord in al humility, with al the sorrows and trials that came to me through theplots of the Jews.	19 אשר עבדתי את האדון בכל ענוה ובדמעות הרבה ובמסות המצאות אתי בנכלי היהודים
20 I have not hesitated to do anything that would be helpful to you; I have preached to you and instructedyou both in public and in your homes,	20 איך לא כחדתי מכם כל דבר תועלת והגדתיו לכם ולמדתי אתכם ברבים ובכל בית ובית
21 urging both Jews and Greeks to turn to God and to believe in our Lord Jesus.	21 ואעיד ליהודים וליונים את התשובה לאלהים ואת האמונה באדנינו ישוע המשיח
22 'And now you see me on my way to Jerusalem in captivity to the Spirit; I have no idea what wilhappen to me there,	22 ועתה הנני אסיר הרוח ללכת ירושלים ואינני יודע מה יקרני שם
23 except that the Holy Spirit, in town after town, has made it clear to me that imprisonment andpersecution await me.	23 אפס כי רוח הקדש מעיד בכל עיר ועיר לאמר כי מוסרות וצרות נכונו לי
24 But I do not place any value on my own life, provided that I complete the mission the Lord Jesus gaveme -- to bear witness to the good news of God's grace.	24 אבל לא אחוש לאחת מהנה וגם נפשי לא יקרה בעיני למען אשלים בשמחה את מרוצתי ואת השרות אשר קבלתי מאת האדון ישוע להעיד על בשורת חסד אליהם
25 'I now feel sure that none of you among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom wil eversee my face again.	25 ועתה הנה ידע אנכי כי אתם כלכם אשר התהלכתי בקרבכם הלוך והשמע את מלכות יהוה כי לא תוסיפו עוד ראות פני
26 And so on this very day I swear that my conscience is clear as far as all of you are concerned,	26 על כן מעיד אני בכם היום הזה כי נקי אנכי מדמי כלכם
27 for I have without faltering put before you the whole of God's purpose.	27 כי לא כחדתי מהגיד לכם את עצת האלהים כלה
28 'Be on your guard for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you theguardians, to feed the Church of God which he bought with the blood of his own Son.	28 לכן שמרו את נפשותיכם ואת כל העדר אשר הקים אתכם רוח הקדש לפקידים בו לרעות את עדת האלהים אשר קנה לו בדם נפשו
29 'I know quite wel that when I have gone fierce wolves wil invade you and will have no mercy on theflock.	29 כי ידע אני אשר אחרי צאתי יבואו בתוככם זאבים עזים אשר לא יחוסו על העדר
30 Even from your own ranks there wil be men coming forward with a travesty of the truth on their lips toinduce the disciples to fol ow them.	30 וגם מקרבכם יקומו אנשים דברי תהפכות להטות אחריהם את התלמידים
31 So be on your guard, remembering how night and day for three years I never slackened in counsel ingeach one of you with tears.	31 על כן שקדו וזכרו כי שלש שנים יומם ולילה לא חדלתי לדבר על לב כל אחד מכם בדמעות
32 And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace that has power to build you up and togive you your inheritance among all the sanctified.	32 ועתה אחי אני מסר אתכם לאלהים ולדבר חסדו אשר לו היכלת לבנות אתכם ולתת לכם נחלה בקרב כל המקדשים
33 'I have never asked anyone for money or clothes;	33 לא חמדתי כסף איש או זהבו או לבושו
34 you know for yourselves that these hands of mine earned enough to meet my needs and those of mycompanions.	34 ואתם ידעתם כי ידי אלה עבדו בעד צרכי ובעד צרכי ההלכים אתי
35 By every means I have shown you that we must exert ourselves in this way to support the weak,remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, who himself said, "There is more happiness in giving than inreceiving." '	35 ובכל הראיתי אתכם כי כן עלינו לעמל ולתמך את החלשים ולזכר את דברי האדון ישוע כי הוא אמר טוב אשר תתן משתקח
36 When he had finished speaking he knelt down with them all and prayed.	36 ואחרי דברו את הדברים האלה כרע על ברכיו ויתפלל עם כלם
37 By now they were all in tears; they put their arms round Paul's neck and kissed him;	37 ויבכו כלם בכי גדול ויפלו על צוארי פולוס וינשקו לו
38 what saddened them most was his saying they would never see his face again. Then they escortedhim to the ship.	38 וביותר התעצבו על הדבר אשר דבר כי לא יוסיפו עוד לראות פניו וילוהו אל האניה
