NEW JERUSALEM	SMITH VAN DYKE
1 After this Jesus travel ed round Galilee; he could not travel round Judaea, because the Jews wereseeking to kil him.	1 وكان يسوع يتردد بعد هذا في الجليل. لانه لم يرد ان يتردد في اليهودية لان اليهود كانوا يطلبون ان يقتلوه
2 As the Jewish feast of Shelters drew near,	2 وكان عيد اليهود عيد المظال قريبا.
3 his brothers said to him, 'Leave this place and go to Judaea, so that your disciples, too, can see the works you are doing;	3 فقال له اخوته انتقل من هنا واذهب الى اليهودية لكي يرى تلاميذك ايضا اعمالك التي تعمل.
4 no one who wants to be publicly known acts in secret; if this is what you are doing, you should revealyourself to the world.'	4 لانه ليس احد يعمل شيئا في الخفاء وهو يريد ان يكون علانية. ان كنت تعمل هذه الاشياء فاظهر نفسك للعالم.
5 Not even his brothers had faith in him.	5 لان اخوته ايضا لم يكونوا يؤمنون به.
6 Jesus answered, 'For me the right time has not come yet, but for you any time is the right time.	6 فقال لهم يسوع ان وقتي لم يحضر بعد. واما وقتكم ففي كل حين حاضر.
7 The world cannot hate you, but it does hate me, because I give evidence that its ways are evil.	7 لا يقدر العالم ان يبغضكم ولكنه يبغضني انا لاني اشهد عليه ان اعماله شريرة.
8 Go up to the festival yourselves: I am not going to this festival, because for me the time is not ripe yet.'	8 اصعدوا انتم الى هذا العيد. انا لست اصعد بعد الى هذا العيد لان وقتي لم يكمل بعد.
9 Having said that, he stayed behind in Galilee.	9 قال لهم هذا ومكث في الجليل
10 However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went up as well, not publicly but secretly.	10 ولما كان اخوته قد صعدوا حينئذ صعد هو ايضا الى العيد لا ظاهرا بل كانه في الخفاء.
11 At the festival the Jews were on the look-out for him: 'Where is he?' they said.	11 فكان اليهود يطلبونه في العيد ويقولون اين ذاك.
12 There was a great deal of talk about him in the crowds. Some said, 'He is a good man'; others, 'No, heis leading the people astray.'	12 وكان في الجمع مناجاة كثيرة من نحوه. بعضهم يقولون انه صالح. وآخرون يقولون لا بل يضل الشعب.
13 Yet no one spoke about him openly, for fear of the Jews.	13 ولكن لم يكن احد يتكلم عنه جهارا لسبب الخوف من اليهود
14 When the festival was half over, Jesus went to the Temple and began to teach.	14 ولما كان العيد قد انتصف صعد يسوع الى الهيكل وكان يعلّم.
15 The Jews were astonished and said, 'How did he learn to read? He has not been educated.'	15 فتعجب اليهود قائلين كيف هذا يعرف الكتب وهو لم يتعلّم.
16 Jesus answered them: 'My teaching is not from myself: it comes from the one who sent me;	16 اجابهم يسوع وقال تعليمي ليس لي بل للذي ارسلني.
17 anyone who is prepared to do his wil , wil know whether my teaching is from God or whether I speakon my own account.	17 ان شاء احد ان يعمل مشيئته يعرف التعليم هل هو من الله ام اتكلم انا من نفسي.
18 When someone speaks on his own account, he is seeking honour for himself; but when he is seekingthe honour of the person who sent him, then he is true and altogether without dishonesty.	18 من يتكلم من نفسه يطلب مجد نفسه. واما من يطلب مجد الذي ارسله فهو صادق وليس فيه ظلم.
19 Did not Moses give you the Law? And yet not one of you keeps the Law!	19 أليس موسى قد اعطاكم الناموس وليس احد منكم يعمل الناموس. لماذا تطلبون ان تقتلوني
20 The crowd replied, 'You are mad! Who wants to kil you?'	20 اجاب الجمع وقالوا بك شيطان. من يطلب ان يقتلك.
21 Jesus answered, 'One work I did, and you are all amazed at it.	21 اجاب يسوع وقال لهم عملا واحدا عملت فتتعجبون جميعا.
22 Moses ordered you to practise circumcision -- not that it began with him, it goes back to the patriarchs-- and you circumcise on the Sabbath.	22 لهذا اعطاكم موسى الختان. ليس انه من موسى بل من الآباء. ففي السبت تختنون الانسان.
23 Now if someone can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the Law of Moses is not broken, why areyou angry with me for making someone completely healthy on a Sabbath?	23 فان كان الانسان يقبل الختان في السبت لئلا ينقض ناموس موسى أفتسخطون عليّ لاني شفيت انسانا كله في السبت.
24 Do not keep judging according to appearances; let your judgement be according to what is right.'	24 لا تحكموا حسب الظاهر بل احكموا حكما عادلا
25 Meanwhile some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, 'Isn't this the man they want to kil ?	25 فقال قوم من اهل اورشليم أليس هذا هو الذي يطلبون ان يقتلوه.
26 And here he is, speaking openly, and they have nothing to say to him! Can it be true the authoritieshave recognised that he is the Christ?	26 وها هو يتكلم جهارا ولا يقولون له شيئا. ألعل الرؤساء عرفوا يقينا ان هذا هو المسيح حقا.
27 Yet we al know where he comes from, but when the Christ appears no one wil know where he comesfrom.'	27 ولكن هذا نعلم من اين هو. واما المسيح فمتى جاء لا يعرف احد من اين هو
28 Then, as Jesus was teaching in the Temple, he cried out: You know me and you know where I camefrom. Yet I have not come of my own accord: but he who sent me is true; You do not know him,	28 فنادى يسوع وهو يعلّم في الهيكل قائلا تعرفونني وتعرفون من اين انا ومن نفسي لم آت بل الذي ارسلني هو حق الذي انتم لستم تعرفونه.
29 but I know him because I have my being from him and it was he who sent me.	29 انا اعرفه لاني منه وهو ارسلني.
30 They wanted to arrest him then, but because his hour had not yet come no one laid a hand on him.	30 فطلبوا ان يمسكوه. ولم يلق احد يدا عليه لان ساعته لم تكن قد جاءت بعد.
31 There were many people in the crowds, however, who believed in him; they were saying, 'When theChrist comes, wil he give more signs than this man has?'	31 فآمن به كثيرون من الجمع وقالوا ألعل المسيح متى جاء يعمل آيات اكثر من هذه التي عملها هذا
32 Hearing that talk like this about him was spreading among the people, the Pharisees sent the Templeguards to arrest him.	32 سمع الفريسيون الجمع يتناجون بهذا من نحوه فارسل الفريسيون ورؤساء الكهنة خداما ليمسكوه.
33 Then Jesus said: For a short time I am with you stil ; then I shal go back to the one who sent me.	33 فقال لهم يسوع انا معكم زمانا يسيرا بعد ثم امضي الى الذي ارسلني.
34 You will look for me and wil not find me; where I am you cannot come.	34 ستطلبونني ولا تجدونني وحيث اكون انا لا تقدرون انتم ان تأتوا.
35 So the Jews said to one another, 'Where is he intending to go that we shal not be able to find him? Ishe intending to go abroad to the people who are dispersed among the Greeks and to teach the Greeks?	35 فقال اليهود فيما بينهم الى اين هذا مزمع ان يذهب حتى لا نجده نحن. ألعله مزمع ان يذهب الى شتات اليونانيين ويعلّم اليونانيين.
36 'Why do you want to kil me?' What does he mean when he says: "You will look for me and wil not findme; where I am, you cannot come?" '	36 ما هذا القول الذي قال ستطلبونني ولا تجدونني وحيث اكون انا لا تقدرون انتم ان تأتوا
37 On the last day, the great day of the festival, Jesus stood and cried out: 'Let anyone who is thirstycome to me!	37 وفي اليوم الاخير العظيم من العيد وقف يسوع ونادى قائلا ان عطش احد فليقبل اليّ ويشرب.
38 Let anyone who believes in me come and drink! As scripture says, "From his heart shal flow streamsof living water." '	38 من آمن بي كما قال الكتاب تجري من بطنه انهار ماء حيّ.
39 He was speaking of the Spirit which those who believed in him were to receive; for there was no Spiritas yet because Jesus had not yet been glorified.	39 قال هذا عن الروح الذي كان المؤمنون به مزمعين ان يقبلوه. لان الروح القدس لم يكن قد أعطي بعد. لان يسوع لم يكن قد مجّد بعد.
40 Some of the crowd who had been listening said, 'He is indeed the prophet,'	40 فكثيرون من الجمع لما سمعوا هذا الكلام قالوا هذا بالحقيقة هو النبي.
41 and some said, 'He is the Christ,' but others said, 'Would the Christ come from Galilee?	41 آخرون قالوا هذا هو المسيح. وآخرون قالوا ألعل المسيح من الجليل يأتي.
42 Does not scripture say that the Christ must be descended from David and come from Bethlehem, thevil age where David was?'	42 ألم يقل الكتاب انه من نسل داود ومن بيت لحم القرية التي كان داود فيها يأتي المسيح.
43 So the people could not agree about him.	43 فحدث انشقاق في الجمع لسببه.
44 Some wanted to arrest him, but no one actual y laid a hand on him.	44 وكان قوم منهم يريدون ان يمسكوه ولكن لم يلق احد عليه الايادي
45 The guards went back to the chief priests and Pharisees who said to them, 'Why haven't you broughthim?'	45 فجاء الخدام الى رؤساء الكهنة والفريسيين. فقال هؤلاء لهم لماذا لم تأتوا به.
46 The guards replied, 'No one has ever spoken like this man.'	46 اجاب الخدام لم يتكلم قط انسان هكذا مثل هذا الانسان.
47 'So,' the Pharisees answered, 'you, too, have been led astray?	47 فاجابهم الفريسيون ألعلكم انتم ايضا قد ضللتم.
48 Have any of the authorities come to believe in him? Any of the Pharisees?	48 ألعل احدا من الرؤساء او من الفريسيين آمن به.
49 This rabble knows nothing about the Law -- they are damned.'	49 ولكن هذا الشعب الذي لا يفهم الناموس هو ملعون.
50 One of them, Nicodemus -- the same man who had come to Jesus earlier -- said to them,	50 قال لهم نيقوديموس الذي جاء اليه ليلا وهو واحد منهم.
51 'But surely our Law does not al ow us to pass judgement on anyone without first giving him a hearingand discovering what he is doing?'	51 ألعل ناموسنا يدين انسانا لم يسمع منه اولا ويعرف ماذا فعل.
52 To this they answered, 'Are you a Galilean too? Go into the matter, and see for yourself: prophets donot arise in Galilee.'	52 اجابوا وقالوا له ألعلك انت ايضا من الجليل. فتّش وانظر. انه لم يقم نبي من الجليل.
53 They al went home,	53 فمضى كل واحد الى بيته
