NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 After this Jesus travel ed round Galilee; he could not travel round Judaea, because the Jews wereseeking to kil him.	1 Ezek után Jézus bejárta Galileát. Nem akart ugyanis Júdeába menni, mert a zsidók halálra keresték.
2 As the Jewish feast of Shelters drew near,	2 Közel volt a zsidók ünnepe, a sátoros ünnep.
3 his brothers said to him, 'Leave this place and go to Judaea, so that your disciples, too, can see the works you are doing;	3 Testvérei ekkor azt mondták neki: »Menj el innen, eredj Júdeába, hogy tanítványaid is lássák tetteidet, amelyeket művelsz!
4 no one who wants to be publicly known acts in secret; if this is what you are doing, you should revealyourself to the world.'	4 Hiszen senki sem cselekszik titokban, aki nyilvánosságra akar jutni. Ha ezeket teszed, mutasd meg magad a világnak!«
5 Not even his brothers had faith in him.	5 Mert még testvérei sem hittek benne.
6 Jesus answered, 'For me the right time has not come yet, but for you any time is the right time.	6 Jézus azt felelte nekik: »Az én időm még nincs itt, de számotokra az idő mindenkor alkalmas.
7 The world cannot hate you, but it does hate me, because I give evidence that its ways are evil.	7 Titeket nem gyűlölhet a világ, de engem gyűlöl, mert én tanúskodom arról, hogy a tettei gonoszak.
8 Go up to the festival yourselves: I am not going to this festival, because for me the time is not ripe yet.'	8 Ti csak menjetek fel az ünnepre, én nem megyek fel erre az ünnepre, mert az én időm még nem telt be.«
9 Having said that, he stayed behind in Galilee.	9 Ezeket mondta, és ő maga Galileában maradt.
10 However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went up as well, not publicly but secretly.	10 Amikor azonban testvérei felmentek az ünnepre, ő is felment, de nem nyilvánosan, hanem mintegy titokban.
11 At the festival the Jews were on the look-out for him: 'Where is he?' they said.	11 A zsidók keresték őt az ünnepen, és azt kérdezték: »Hol van ő?«
12 There was a great deal of talk about him in the crowds. Some said, 'He is a good man'; others, 'No, heis leading the people astray.'	12 A nép között sok mindent beszéltek róla. Egyesek azt mondták: »Jó ember az!« Mások ellenben: »Nem, hanem félrevezeti a népet.«
13 Yet no one spoke about him openly, for fear of the Jews.	13 Mindamellett senki sem beszélt róla nyíltan a zsidóktól való félelem miatt.
14 When the festival was half over, Jesus went to the Temple and began to teach.	14 Mikor már az ünnep közepe volt, Jézus fölment a templomba és tanított.
15 The Jews were astonished and said, 'How did he learn to read? He has not been educated.'	15 A zsidók csodálkoztak, s ezt mondták: »Honnan ismeri ez az Írásokat, holott nem tanulta?«
16 Jesus answered them: 'My teaching is not from myself: it comes from the one who sent me;	16 Jézus azt felelte nekik: »Az én tanításom nem az enyém, hanem azé, aki engem küldött.
17 anyone who is prepared to do his wil , wil know whether my teaching is from God or whether I speakon my own account.	17 Ha valaki kész az ő akaratát megtenni, felismeri a tanításról, hogy az az Istentől való-e, vagy én magamtól szólok-e.
18 When someone speaks on his own account, he is seeking honour for himself; but when he is seekingthe honour of the person who sent him, then he is true and altogether without dishonesty.	18 Aki önmagától beszél, az a maga dicsőségét keresi, aki pedig küldőjének dicsőségét keresi, az igazmondó, és nincs benne hamisság.
19 Did not Moses give you the Law? And yet not one of you keeps the Law!	19 Nem Mózes adta nektek a törvényt? És senki közületek nem cselekszi a törvényt. Miért akartok engem megölni?«
20 The crowd replied, 'You are mad! Who wants to kil you?'	20 A nép azt felelte: »Ördögöd van! Ki akar téged megölni?«
21 Jesus answered, 'One work I did, and you are all amazed at it.	21 Jézus azt mondta nekik: »Egyetlen dolgot tettem, és mindnyájan megütköztök.
22 Moses ordered you to practise circumcision -- not that it began with him, it goes back to the patriarchs-- and you circumcise on the Sabbath.	22 A körülmetélést Mózes adta nektek – bár az nem is Mózestől való, hanem az atyáktól –, és szombaton körülmetélitek az embert.
23 Now if someone can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the Law of Moses is not broken, why areyou angry with me for making someone completely healthy on a Sabbath?	23 Ha valaki körülmetélkedhet szombaton anélkül, hogy Mózes törvényén csorba esnék, miért acsarkodtok rám azért, hogy az egész embert meggyógyítottam szombaton?
24 Do not keep judging according to appearances; let your judgement be according to what is right.'	24 Ne ítéljetek a látszat után, hanem igaz ítélettel ítéljetek!«
25 Meanwhile some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, 'Isn't this the man they want to kil ?	25 A jeruzsálemiek közül egyesek azt mondták: »Nem ő az, akit halálra keresnek?
26 And here he is, speaking openly, and they have nothing to say to him! Can it be true the authoritieshave recognised that he is the Christ?	26 Íme, nyilvánosan beszél, és semmit sem mondanak neki. Talán a főemberek valóban fölismerték, hogy ő a Krisztus?
27 Yet we al know where he comes from, but when the Christ appears no one wil know where he comesfrom.'	27 Róla azonban tudjuk, hogy honnan való, a Krisztust pedig, amikor eljön, senki sem tudja, honnan van.«
28 Then, as Jesus was teaching in the Temple, he cried out: You know me and you know where I camefrom. Yet I have not come of my own accord: but he who sent me is true; You do not know him,	28 Akkor Jézus, aki a templomban tanított, így kiáltott fel: »Ismertek engem is, és azt is tudjátok, hogy honnan való vagyok. Márpedig én nem magamtól jöttem, hanem az küldött engem, aki Igaz, akit ti nem ismertek.
29 but I know him because I have my being from him and it was he who sent me.	29 Én ismerem őt, mert tőle vagyok, és ő küldött engem.«
30 They wanted to arrest him then, but because his hour had not yet come no one laid a hand on him.	30 Ekkor szerették volna elfogni, de senki sem emelte rá kezét, mert még nem jött el az ő órája.
31 There were many people in the crowds, however, who believed in him; they were saying, 'When theChrist comes, wil he give more signs than this man has?'	31 A népből azonban sokan hittek benne és azt mondták: »A Krisztus, amikor eljön, vajon több csodajelet fog-e tenni, mint amit ő tett?«
32 Hearing that talk like this about him was spreading among the people, the Pharisees sent the Templeguards to arrest him.	32 Meghallották a farizeusok, hogy a nép ilyeneket suttog felőle, ezért a főpapok és a farizeusok szolgákat küldtek, hogy elfogják őt.
33 Then Jesus said: For a short time I am with you stil ; then I shal go back to the one who sent me.	33 Akkor Jézus így szólt: »Még egy kevés ideig veletek vagyok, aztán elmegyek ahhoz, aki küldött engem.
34 You will look for me and wil not find me; where I am you cannot come.	34 Keresni fogtok engem, de nem találtok, és ahol én vagyok, oda ti nem jöhettek.«
35 So the Jews said to one another, 'Where is he intending to go that we shal not be able to find him? Ishe intending to go abroad to the people who are dispersed among the Greeks and to teach the Greeks?	35 A zsidók ezért azt mondták egymás közt: »Hová akar ez menni, hogy nem találjuk őt? Csak nem akar a görögök közé a szórványba menni és a görögöket tanítani?
36 'Why do you want to kil me?' What does he mean when he says: "You will look for me and wil not findme; where I am, you cannot come?" '	36 Miféle beszéd ez, amelyet mondott: ‘Keresni fogtok engem, de nem találtok, és ahol én vagyok, oda ti nem jöhettek’?«
37 On the last day, the great day of the festival, Jesus stood and cried out: 'Let anyone who is thirstycome to me!	37 Az ünnep utolsó, nagy napján Jézus megállt és felkiáltott: »Ha valaki szomjazik, jöjjön hozzám, és igyon mindenki,
38 Let anyone who believes in me come and drink! As scripture says, "From his heart shal flow streamsof living water." '	38 aki hisz bennem. Amint az Írás mondja: élővíz folyói fakadnak majd belőle.«
39 He was speaking of the Spirit which those who believed in him were to receive; for there was no Spiritas yet because Jesus had not yet been glorified.	39 Ezt a Lélekről mondta, amelyet a benne hívők meg fognak kapni. A Lélek ugyanis még nem volt megadva, mert Jézus még nem dicsőült meg.
40 Some of the crowd who had been listening said, 'He is indeed the prophet,'	40 Akik a népből ezeket a szavakat hallották, azt mondták: »Ez valóban a próféta!«
41 and some said, 'He is the Christ,' but others said, 'Would the Christ come from Galilee?	41 Mások így szóltak: »Ez a Krisztus!« Némelyek pedig megjegyezték: »Csak nem Galileából jön a Krisztus?
42 Does not scripture say that the Christ must be descended from David and come from Bethlehem, thevil age where David was?'	42 Nem ezt mondta az Írás: ‘Dávid utódaiból és Betlehem helységből jön a Krisztus , ahonnan Dávid származott?’«
43 So the people could not agree about him.	43 És a sokaságban szakadás támadt miatta.
44 Some wanted to arrest him, but no one actual y laid a hand on him.	44 Közülük egyesek el akarták őt fogni, de senki sem emelt rá kezet.
45 The guards went back to the chief priests and Pharisees who said to them, 'Why haven't you broughthim?'	45 A szolgák visszamentek a főpapokhoz és a farizeusokhoz. Azok azt mondták nekik: »Miért nem hoztátok el?«
46 The guards replied, 'No one has ever spoken like this man.'	46 A szolgák azt felelték: »Soha ember így nem beszélt!«
47 'So,' the Pharisees answered, 'you, too, have been led astray?	47 Erre a farizeusok így válaszoltak: »Talán bizony titeket is félrevezetett?
48 Have any of the authorities come to believe in him? Any of the Pharisees?	48 Vajon a főemberek vagy a farizeusok közül hitt-e valaki benne?
49 This rabble knows nothing about the Law -- they are damned.'	49 De ez a népség, amely nem ismeri a törvényt, átkozott.«
50 One of them, Nicodemus -- the same man who had come to Jesus earlier -- said to them,	50 Erre Nikodémus, aki korábban nála járt, és közülük való volt, azt mondta nekik:
51 'But surely our Law does not al ow us to pass judgement on anyone without first giving him a hearingand discovering what he is doing?'	51 »Vajon a mi törvényünk elítéli-e az embert, mielőtt kihallgatták volna őt, és meg nem tudták, mit cselekedett?«
52 To this they answered, 'Are you a Galilean too? Go into the matter, and see for yourself: prophets donot arise in Galilee.'	52 Azok azt felelték neki: »Csak nem vagy te is galileai? Nézz utána és lásd be, hogy Galileából nem támad próféta!«
53 They al went home,	53 Azután mindegyikük visszatért saját házába.
