Luke 21

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Looking up, he saw rich people putting their offerings into the treasury;	1 Levantando os olhos, viu Jesus os ricos que deitavam as suas ofertas no cofre do templo.
2 and he noticed a poverty-stricken widow putting in two smal coins,	2 Viu também uma viúva pobrezinha deitar duas pequeninas moedas,
3 and he said, 'I tell you truly, this poor widow has put in more than any of them;	3 e disse: Em verdade vos digo: esta pobre viúva pôs mais do que os outros.
4 for these have al put in money they could spare, but she in her poverty has put in al she had to liveon.'	4 Pois todos aqueles lançaram nas ofertas de Deus o que lhes sobra; esta, porém, deu, da sua indigência, tudo o que lhe restava para o sustento.
5 When some were talking about the Temple, remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework andvotive offerings, he said,	5 Como lhe chamassem a atenção para a construção do templo feito de belas pedras e recamado de ricos donativos, Jesus disse:
6 'Al these things you are staring at now -- the time will come when not a single stone will be left onanother; everything will be destroyed.'	6 Dias virão em que destas coisas que vedes não ficará pedra sobre pedra: tudo será destruído.
7 And they put to him this question, 'Master,' they said, 'when wil this happen, then, and what sign wilthere be that it is about to take place?'	7 Então o interrogaram: Mestre, quando acontecerá isso? E que sinal haverá para saber-se que isso se vai cumprir?
8 But he said, 'Take care not to be deceived, because many wil come using my name and saying, "I amthe one" and "The time is near at hand." Refuse to join them.	8 Jesus respondeu: Vede que não sejais enganados. Muitos virão em meu nome, dizendo: Sou eu; e ainda: O tempo está próximo. Não sigais após eles.
9 And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be terrified, for this is something that must happenfirst, but the end wil not come at once.'	9 Quando ouvirdes falar de guerras e de tumultos, não vos assusteis; porque é necessário que isso aconteça primeiro, mas não virá logo o fim.
10 Then he said to them, 'Nation wil fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.	10 Disse-lhes também: Levantar-se-ão nação contra nação e reino contra reino.
11 There wil be great earthquakes and plagues and famines in various places; there wil be terrifyingevents and great signs from heaven.	11 Haverá grandes terremotos por várias partes, fomes e pestes, e aparecerão fenômenos espantosos no céu.
12 'But before all this happens, you will be seized and persecuted; you will be handed over to thesynagogues and to imprisonment, and brought before kings and governors for the sake of my name	12 Mas, antes de tudo isso, vos lançarão as mãos e vos perseguirão, entregando-vos às sinagogas e aos cárceres, levando-vos à presença dos reis e dos governadores, por causa de mim.
13 -and that wil be your opportunity to bear witness.	13 Isto vos acontecerá para que vos sirva de testemunho.
14 Make up your minds not to prepare your defence,	14 Gravai bem no vosso espírito de não preparar vossa defesa,
15 because I myself shal give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents wil be ableto resist or contradict.	15 porque eu vos darei uma palavra cheia de sabedoria, à qual não poderão resistir nem contradizer os vossos adversários.
16 You wil be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relations and friends; and some of you wil be putto death.	16 Sereis entregues até por vossos pais, vossos irmãos, vossos parentes e vossos amigos, e matarão muitos de vós.
17 You wil be hated universal y on account of my name,	17 Sereis odiados por todos por causa do meu nome.
18 but not a hair of your head wil be lost.	18 Entretanto, não se perderá um só cabelo da vossa cabeça.
19 Your perseverance wil win you your lives.	19 É pela vossa constância que alcançareis a vossa salvação.
20 'When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you must realise that it wil soon be laiddesolate.	20 Quando virdes que Jerusalém foi sitiada por exércitos, então sabereis que está próxima a sua ruína.
21 Then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains, those inside the city must leave it, and those incountry districts must not take refuge in it.	21 Os que então se acharem na Judéia fujam para os montes; os que estiverem dentro da cidade retirem-se; os que estiverem nos campos não entrem na cidade.
22 For this is the time of retribution when al that scripture says must be fulfil ed.	22 Porque estes serão dias de castigo, para que se cumpra tudo o que está escrito.
23 Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!	23 Ai das mulheres que, naqueles dias, estiverem grávidas ou amamentando, pois haverá grande angústia na terra e grande ira contra o povo.
24 'For great misery wil descend on the land and retribution on this people. They will fal by the edge ofthe sword and be led captive to every gentile country; and Jerusalem wil be trampled down by the gentiles untiltheir time is complete.	24 Cairão ao fio de espada e serão levados cativos para todas as nações, e Jerusalém será pisada pelos pagãos, até se completarem os tempos das nações pagãs.
25 'There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by theturmoil of the ocean and its waves;	25 Haverá sinais no sol, na lua e nas estrelas. Na terra a aflição e a angústia apoderar-se-ão das nações pelo bramido do mar e das ondas.
26 men fainting away with terror and fear at what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven wil beshaken.	26 Os homens definharão de medo, na expectativa dos males que devem sobrevir a toda a terra. As próprias forças dos céus serão abaladas.
27 And then they wil see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.	27 Então verão o Filho do Homem vir sobre uma nuvem com grande glória e majestade.
28 When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation isnear at hand.'	28 Quando começarem a acontecer estas coisas, reanimai-vos e levantai as vossas cabeças; porque se aproxima a vossa libertação.
29 And he told them a parable, 'Look at the fig tree and indeed every tree.	29 Acrescentou ainda esta comparação: Olhai para a figueira e para as demais árvores.
30 As soon as you see them bud, you can see for yourselves that summer is now near.	30 Quando elas lançam os brotos, vós julgais que está perto o verão.
31 So with you when you see these things happening: know that the kingdom of God is near.	31 Assim também, quando virdes que vão sucedendo estas coisas, sabereis que está perto o Reino de Deus.
32 In truth I tell you, before this generation has passed away al wil have taken place.	32 Em verdade vos declaro: não passará esta geração sem que tudo isto se cumpra.
33 Sky and earth wil pass away, but my words wil never pass away.	33 Passarão o céu e a terra, mas as minhas palavras não passarão.
34 'Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened by debauchery and drunkenness and the caresof life, and that day wil come upon you unexpectedly,	34 Velai sobre vós mesmos, para que os vossos corações não se tornem pesados com o excesso do comer, com a embriaguez e com as preocupações da vida; para que aquele dia não vos apanhe de improviso.
35 like a trap. For it wil come down on all those living on the face of the earth.	35 Como um laço cairá sobre aqueles que habitam a face de toda a terra.
36 Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to holdyour ground before the Son of man.'	36 Vigiai, pois, em todo o tempo e orai, a fim de que vos torneis dignos de escapar a todos estes males que hão de acontecer, e de vos apresentar de pé diante do Filho do Homem.
37 All day long he would be in the Temple teaching, but would spend the night in the open on the hilcal ed the Mount of Olives.	37 Durante o dia Jesus ensinava no templo e, à tarde, saía para passar a noite no monte chamado das Oliveiras.
38 And from early morning the people thronged to him in the Temple to listen to him.	38 E todo o povo ia de manhã cedo ter com ele, no templo, para ouvi-lo.
