Luke 21

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Looking up, he saw rich people putting their offerings into the treasury;	1 Guardandosi attorno, vide alcuni ricchi che gettavano le loro offerte nelle cassette del tempio.
2 and he noticed a poverty-stricken widow putting in two smal coins,	2 Vide anche una vedova povera che vi gettava due monetine.
3 and he said, 'I tell you truly, this poor widow has put in more than any of them;	3 Allora disse: "In verità vi dico: questa vedova, povera com'è, ha offerto più di tutti gli altri.
4 for these have al put in money they could spare, but she in her poverty has put in al she had to liveon.'	4 Tutti costoro infatti hanno dato come offerta parte del loro superfluo, questa donna invece ha dato, nella sua miseria, tutto il necessario per vivere".
5 When some were talking about the Temple, remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework andvotive offerings, he said,	5 Siccome alcuni parlavano del tempio e dicevano che era molto bello per le pietre e per i doni votivi che lo adornavano, egli disse:
6 'Al these things you are staring at now -- the time will come when not a single stone will be left onanother; everything will be destroyed.'	6 "Verranno giorni in cui tutto quello che ammirate sarà distrutto e non rimarrà pietra su pietra".
7 And they put to him this question, 'Master,' they said, 'when wil this happen, then, and what sign wilthere be that it is about to take place?'	7 Ora, lo interrogavano: "Maestro, quando accadrà questo e quale sarà il segno che ciò sta per compiersi?".
8 But he said, 'Take care not to be deceived, because many wil come using my name and saying, "I amthe one" and "The time is near at hand." Refuse to join them.	8 Gesù rispose: "Fate attenzione a non essere ingannati. Perché molti verranno e si presenteranno con il mio nome dicendo: "Sono io", e: "Il tempo è vicino". Voi però non seguiteli.
9 And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be terrified, for this is something that must happenfirst, but the end wil not come at once.'	9 Quando sentirete parlare di guerre e di rivoluzioni, non abbiate paura. Devono infatti succedere prima queste cose, ma non significa che subito dopo ci sarà la fine".
10 Then he said to them, 'Nation wil fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.	10 Allora diceva loro: "Un popolo si solleverà contro un altro popolo e un regno contro un altro regno.
11 There wil be great earthquakes and plagues and famines in various places; there wil be terrifyingevents and great signs from heaven.	11 Ci saranno dappertutto terremoti, carestie e pestilenze: vi saranno anche fenomeni spaventosi e segni grandiosi dal cielo.
12 'But before all this happens, you will be seized and persecuted; you will be handed over to thesynagogues and to imprisonment, and brought before kings and governors for the sake of my name	12 Ma prima di tutto ciò vi prenderanno con violenza e vi perseguiteranno, consegnandovi alle sinagoghe e alle prigioni, trascinandovi davanti ai loro re e ai loro governatori, a causa del mio nome.
13 -and that wil be your opportunity to bear witness.	13 Allora avrete occasione di dare testimonianza.
14 Make up your minds not to prepare your defence,	14 Ritenete per sicuro che non vi dovete preoccupare di quello che direte per difendervi;
15 because I myself shal give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents wil be ableto resist or contradict.	15 io stesso vi darò linguaggio e sapienza, così che i vostri avversari non potranno resistere né controbattere.
16 You wil be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relations and friends; and some of you wil be putto death.	16 Sarete consegnati persino dai genitori e dai fratelli, dai parenti e dagli amici, e molti di voi saranno uccisi;
17 You wil be hated universal y on account of my name,	17 sarete odiati da tutti per causa del mio nome.
18 but not a hair of your head wil be lost.	18 Eppure, nemmeno un capello del vostro capo andrà perduto.
19 Your perseverance wil win you your lives.	19 Con la vostra perseveranza salverete le vostre anime.
20 'When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you must realise that it wil soon be laiddesolate.	20 Ora, quando vedrete Gerusalemme circondata da eserciti, ricordate allora che la sua desolazione è vicina.
21 Then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains, those inside the city must leave it, and those incountry districts must not take refuge in it.	21 Allora quelli che sono nella Giudea fuggano sui monti, quelli che si trovano in città se ne allontanino e quelli che sono in campagna non tornino in città;
22 For this is the time of retribution when al that scripture says must be fulfil ed.	22 poiché questi sono giorni di vendetta, affinché si compia tutto ciò che è stato scritto.
23 Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!	23 Guai alle donne incinte e a quelle che allattano in quei giorni; vi sarà infatti grande tribolazione nel paese e ira contro questo popolo.
24 'For great misery wil descend on the land and retribution on this people. They will fal by the edge ofthe sword and be led captive to every gentile country; and Jerusalem wil be trampled down by the gentiles untiltheir time is complete.	24 E cadranno a fil di spada e saranno portati via come schiavi tra tutti i popoli; Gerusalemme sarà calpestata dai pagani, finché saranno compiuti i tempi dei pagani.
25 'There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by theturmoil of the ocean and its waves;	25 Ci saranno segni nel sole, nella luna e nelle stelle; e sulla terra angoscia di popoli in preda allo smarrimento per il fragore del mare e dei flutti.
26 men fainting away with terror and fear at what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven wil beshaken.	26 Gli uomini verranno meno per il timore e per l'attesa di ciò che dovrà accadere sulla terra. Infatti le forze dei cieli saranno sconvolte.
27 And then they wil see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.	27 Allora vedranno il Figlio dell'uomo venire sopra una nube con grande potenza e splendore.
28 When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation isnear at hand.'	28 Quando queste cose cominceranno ad accadere, drizzatevi e alzate la testa, perché la vostra liberazione è vicina".
29 And he told them a parable, 'Look at the fig tree and indeed every tree.	29 Poi disse loro una parabola: "Guardate l'albero del fico e tutti gli altri alberi.
30 As soon as you see them bud, you can see for yourselves that summer is now near.	30 Quando vedete che cominciano a germogliare, voi capite che l'estate è ormai vicina.
31 So with you when you see these things happening: know that the kingdom of God is near.	31 Così pure, quando vedrete compiersi queste cose, sappiate che il regno di Dio è vicino.
32 In truth I tell you, before this generation has passed away al wil have taken place.	32 In verità vi dico: non passerà questa generazione prima che tutto questo avvenga.
33 Sky and earth wil pass away, but my words wil never pass away.	33 Il cielo e la terra passeranno, ma le mie parole non passeranno.
34 'Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened by debauchery and drunkenness and the caresof life, and that day wil come upon you unexpectedly,	34 State bene attenti che i vostri cuori non si intontiscano in dissipazioni, ubriachezze e preoccupazioni materiali, e che quel giorno non vi piombi addosso all'improvviso;
35 like a trap. For it wil come down on all those living on the face of the earth.	35 come un laccio esso si abbatterà sopra tutti coloro che popolano la faccia della terra.
36 Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to holdyour ground before the Son of man.'	36 Vegliate e pregate in ogni momento, per avere la forza di sfuggire a tutti questi mali che stanno per accadere e per comparire davanti al Figlio dell'uomo".
37 All day long he would be in the Temple teaching, but would spend the night in the open on the hilcal ed the Mount of Olives.	37 Durante il giorno insegnava nel tempio, di notte usciva e se ne stava all'aperto sul monte degli Ulivi.
38 And from early morning the people thronged to him in the Temple to listen to him.	38 Ma già di buon mattino tutto il popolo andava nel tempio per ascoltarlo.
