1 Looking up, he saw rich people putting their offerings into the treasury;	1 Alzati poi gli occhi osservò de' ricchi, che gettavano le loro offerte nel gazofilaccio.
2 and he noticed a poverty-stricken widow putting in two smal coins,	2 E vide dipoi anche una poverella vedova, la quale vi gettò due piccioli.
3 and he said, 'I tell you truly, this poor widow has put in more than any of them;	3 E disse: Veracemente vi dico, che questa povera vedova ha messo più di tutti:
4 for these have al put in money they could spare, but she in her poverty has put in al she had to liveon.'	4 Imperocché tutti coloro hanno offerto a Dio parte di quello, che loro sopravanzava: ma colei del suo necessario ha offerto quanto aveva per sostentarsi.
5 When some were talking about the Temple, remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework andvotive offerings, he said,	5 E dicendo taluni riguardo al tempio, che egli era fabbricato di belle pietre, e ornato di doni, rispose:
6 'Al these things you are staring at now -- the time will come when not a single stone will be left onanother; everything will be destroyed.'	6 Di queste cose, che voi vedete,tempo verrà, che non resterà pietra sopra pietra, che non sia stritolata.
7 And they put to him this question, 'Master,' they said, 'when wil this happen, then, and what sign wilthere be that it is about to take place?'	7 E gli domandarono: Maestro, quando sia, che avvengano tali cose; e quale sarà il segno, che siano prossime ad accadere?
8 But he said, 'Take care not to be deceived, because many wil come using my name and saying, "I amthe one" and "The time is near at hand." Refuse to join them.	8 Ed egli rispose: Badate di non esser sedotti: imperocché molti verranno sotto il mio nome, e diranno: Son io: e il tempo è vicino: non andate adunque dietro a loro.
9 And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be terrified, for this is something that must happenfirst, but the end wil not come at once.'	9 Quando poi sentirete parlare di guerre, e di sedizioni, non vi sbigottite: bisogna, che prima tali cose succedano; ma non sarà ancora si tosto la fine.
10 Then he said to them, 'Nation wil fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.	10 Allora diceva loro: Si solleverà popolo contro popolo, e reame contro reame.
11 There wil be great earthquakes and plagues and famines in various places; there wil be terrifyingevents and great signs from heaven.	11 E saranno fieri terremoti in diversi luoghi, e pestilenze, e carestie, e cose spaventevoli nel cielo, e prodigj grandi.
12 'But before all this happens, you will be seized and persecuted; you will be handed over to thesynagogues and to imprisonment, and brought before kings and governors for the sake of my name	12 Ma prima di tutto questo vi metteranno le mani addosso, e vi perseguiteranno, traggendovi alle sinagoghe, e alle prigioni, e vi strascineranno dinanzi ai re, e ai presidi per causa del nome mio.
13 -and that wil be your opportunity to bear witness.	13 E questo avverrà per la vostra testimonianza.
14 Make up your minds not to prepare your defence,	14 Tenete dunque fisso in cuor vostro di non premeditare quel, che abbiate a rispondere:
15 because I myself shal give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents wil be ableto resist or contradict.	15 Imperocché io darò a voi un parlare, e una sapienza, cui non potran resistere, né contraddire tutti i vostri nemici.
16 You wil be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relations and friends; and some of you wil be putto death.	16 Ma sarete traditi dai genitori, dai fratelli, da' parenti, e amici, e parte di voi ne faranno morire:
17 You wil be hated universal y on account of my name,	17 E sarete in odio a tutti per causa del nome mio:
18 but not a hair of your head wil be lost.	18 Ma non perirà un solo capello del vostro capo.
19 Your perseverance wil win you your lives.	19 Guadagnerete le anime vostre mediante la pazienza.
20 'When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you must realise that it wil soon be laiddesolate.	20 Quando poi vedrete Gerusalemme circondata d'esercito, allora sappiate, che la sua desolazione e vicina:
21 Then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains, those inside the city must leave it, and those incountry districts must not take refuge in it.	21 Allora chi si trova nella Giudea, fugga nelle montagne: e chi sta dentro di lei, si ritiri: e chi è per le campagne, non vi rientri:
22 For this is the time of retribution when al that scripture says must be fulfil ed.	22 Imperocché giorni di vendetta sono quegli, affinchè tutto quello, che è stato scritto, si adempia.
23 Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!	23 Ma guai alle donne gravide, e che daran latte in que' giorni: imperocché in grandi strettezze sarà il paese,e l'ira addosso a questo popolo.
24 'For great misery wil descend on the land and retribution on this people. They will fal by the edge ofthe sword and be led captive to every gentile country; and Jerusalem wil be trampled down by the gentiles untiltheir time is complete.	24 E periranno di spada: e saranno menati schiavi tra tutte le nazoni, e Gerusalemme sarà calcata dalle genti: fino a tanto che compiti siano i tempi delle genti.
25 'There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by theturmoil of the ocean and its waves;	25 E saran prodigj nel sole, nella luna, e nelle stelle, e pel mondo le nazioni in costernazione per lo sbigottimento (causato) dal fiotto del mare, e dell'onde:
26 men fainting away with terror and fear at what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven wil beshaken.	26 Consumandosi gli uomini per la paura, e per l'espettazione di quanto sarà per accadere a tutto l'universo: imperocché le virtù de' cieli saranno scommosse.
27 And then they wil see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.	27 E allora vedranno il Figliuolo dell'uomo venire sopra una nuvola con po testà grande, e maestà.
28 When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation isnear at hand.'	28 Quando poi queste cose principieranno ad effettuarsi, mirate in su, e alzate le vostre teste; perché la redenzione vostra è vicina.
29 And he told them a parable, 'Look at the fig tree and indeed every tree.	29 E disse loro una similitudine: Osservate il fico, e tutte le piante:
30 As soon as you see them bud, you can see for yourselves that summer is now near.	30 Quando queste hanno già buttato, sapete, che la state è vicina;
31 So with you when you see these things happening: know that the kingdom of God is near.	31 Così pure voi quando vedrete tali cose succedere, sappiate, che il regno di Dio è vicino.
32 In truth I tell you, before this generation has passed away al wil have taken place.	32 In verità vi dico, che non passerà questa generazione, fino a tanto che tutto si adempia.
33 Sky and earth wil pass away, but my words wil never pass away.	33 Il cielo, e la terra passeranno: ma le mie parole non passeranno.
34 'Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened by debauchery and drunkenness and the caresof life, and that day wil come upon you unexpectedly,	34 Vegliate sopra voi stessi, onde non avvenga, che siano i vostri cuori depressi dalle crapole, e dalle ubbriachezze, e dalle cure della vita presente: e repentinamente vi venga addosso quella giornata:
35 like a trap. For it wil come down on all those living on the face of the earth.	35 Imperocché sarà quasi laccio, che cadrà sopra tutti coloro, che abitano sulla superficie della terra.
36 Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to holdyour ground before the Son of man.'	36 Vegliate adunque in ogni tempo, pregando di esser fatti degni di schivare tutte queste cose, che devono avvenire, e di stare con fiducia dinanzi al figliuolo dell'uomo.
37 All day long he would be in the Temple teaching, but would spend the night in the open on the hilcal ed the Mount of Olives.	37 E Gesù stava il giorno insegnando nel tempio: e la notte usciva, e faceva sua dimora sul monte chiamato Uliveto.
38 And from early morning the people thronged to him in the Temple to listen to him.	38 E tutto il popolo andava dì buon mattino da lui al tempio per ascoltarlo.
