NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Looking up, he saw rich people putting their offerings into the treasury;	1 - Alzando gli occhi vide i ricchi che gettavan le loro offerte nel gazofilacio.
2 and he noticed a poverty-stricken widow putting in two smal coins,	2 Vide anche una vedova povera che vi gettò due quattrini
3 and he said, 'I tell you truly, this poor widow has put in more than any of them;	3 e disse: «Io vi dico in verità che questa vedova poverella ha offerto più di tutti gli altri;
4 for these have al put in money they could spare, but she in her poverty has put in al she had to liveon.'	4 perchè tutti costoro hanno offerto a Dio una parte del loro superfluo, mentre costei, nella sua povertà, ha offerto tutto quanto aveva per vivere».
5 When some were talking about the Temple, remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework andvotive offerings, he said,	5 Siccome alcuni parlavan del tempio, ornato di belle pietre e di ricche offerte, Gesù disse:
6 'Al these things you are staring at now -- the time will come when not a single stone will be left onanother; everything will be destroyed.'	6 «Giorno verrà che di tutto quanto voi ora ammirate non rimarrà pietra su pietra, che non sia distrutto».
7 And they put to him this question, 'Master,' they said, 'when wil this happen, then, and what sign wilthere be that it is about to take place?'	7 Ed essi gli domandarono: «Maestro, quando avverrà dunque tutto questo? E a qual segno si potrà conoscere che esso sta per succedere?».
8 But he said, 'Take care not to be deceived, because many wil come using my name and saying, "I amthe one" and "The time is near at hand." Refuse to join them.	8 Egli rispose: «Badate di non lasciarvi sedurre; perchè molti verranno sotto il mio nome e diranno: - Sono io -, e: - Il tempo è vicino. - Non seguiteli.
9 And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be terrified, for this is something that must happenfirst, but the end wil not come at once.'	9 Quando sentirete parlare di guerre e di sommosse, non vi spaventate, perchè bisogna che prima avvengano queste cose, ma la fine non verrà subito dopo».
10 Then he said to them, 'Nation wil fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.	10 Allora disse loro: «Si solleverà nazione contro nazione e regno contro regno;
11 There wil be great earthquakes and plagues and famines in various places; there wil be terrifyingevents and great signs from heaven.	11 in diversi luoghi ci saranno terremoti e pestilenze e carestie mentre nel cielo vi saranno apparizioni spaventose e segni straordinari.
12 'But before all this happens, you will be seized and persecuted; you will be handed over to thesynagogues and to imprisonment, and brought before kings and governors for the sake of my name	12 Prima però di queste cose, vi metteranno le mani addosso e vi perseguiteranno, trascinandovi nelle sinagoghe e mettendovi in prigione, traendovi davanti ai re e ai governanti, per il mio nome.
13 -and that wil be your opportunity to bear witness.	13 Ma ciò vi accadrà, perchè rendiate testimonianza.
14 Make up your minds not to prepare your defence,	14 Mettetevi dunque in cuore di non premeditare la difesa;
15 because I myself shal give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents wil be ableto resist or contradict.	15 perchè io vi darò una bocca e una sapienza, alle quali tutti i vostri avversari non potranno contrastare nè resistere.
16 You wil be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relations and friends; and some of you wil be putto death.	16 Sarete traditi dai genitori, dai fratelli, dai parenti e dagli amici e faranno morire parecchi di voi.
17 You wil be hated universal y on account of my name,	17 Sarete odiati da tutti per causa del mio nome;
18 but not a hair of your head wil be lost.	18 ma neppure uno dei capelli del vostro capo andrà perduto.
19 Your perseverance wil win you your lives.	19 In premio della vostra costanza, salverete le vostre anime.
20 'When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you must realise that it wil soon be laiddesolate.	20 Quando poi vedrete Gerusalemme circondata da eserciti allora sappiate che la sua desolazione è vicina.
21 Then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains, those inside the city must leave it, and those incountry districts must not take refuge in it.	21 Allora quelli che saranno in Giudea, fuggano ai monti; e quelli che saranno nella città, se ne allontanino; e quelli che saranno nelle campagne non rientrino in città.
22 For this is the time of retribution when al that scripture says must be fulfil ed.	22 Perchè quelli saranno giorni di vendetta, affinchè si compia quanto è scritto.
23 Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!	23 Guai alle donne prossime a diventar madri o allattanti in quei giorni! Perchè vi sarà una gran miseria in quella terra e una gran collera contro quel popolo.
24 'For great misery wil descend on the land and retribution on this people. They will fal by the edge ofthe sword and be led captive to every gentile country; and Jerusalem wil be trampled down by the gentiles untiltheir time is complete.	24 Periranno di spada e saranno condotti schiavi tra tutte le nazioni e Gerusalemme sarà calpestata dai Gentili, finchè i tempi dei Gentili siano compiuti.
25 'There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by theturmoil of the ocean and its waves;	25 E vi saran dei segni nel sole, nella luna e nelle stelle e sulla terra costernazione tra i popoli, smarriti per il rimbombo del mare e dei flutti;
26 men fainting away with terror and fear at what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven wil beshaken.	26 gli uomini verranno meno dallo spavento nell'aspettazione delle cose che staranno per accadere al mondo, perchè le potenze dei cieli saranno sconquassate.
27 And then they wil see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.	27 E allora vedranno il Figliuol dell'uomo venire su una nuvola con potenza e grande gloria.
28 When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation isnear at hand.'	28 Ma quando queste cose cominceranno ad accadere, rialzatevi, sollevate il capo, perchè la vostra redenzione è vicina».
29 And he told them a parable, 'Look at the fig tree and indeed every tree.	29 Disse loro una similitudine: «Osservate il fico e tutti gli alberi.
30 As soon as you see them bud, you can see for yourselves that summer is now near.	30 Quando germogliano, voi, guardando, v'accorgete subito che l'estate è vicina.
31 So with you when you see these things happening: know that the kingdom of God is near.	31 Così pure, quando vedrete accadere tali cose, sappiate che il regno di Dio è vicino.
32 In truth I tell you, before this generation has passed away al wil have taken place.	32 In verità vi dico che questa generazione non passerà prima che tutte queste cose siano avvenute.
33 Sky and earth wil pass away, but my words wil never pass away.	33 Il cielo e la terra passeranno, ma le mie parole non passeranno.
34 'Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened by debauchery and drunkenness and the caresof life, and that day wil come upon you unexpectedly,	34 Badate a voi stessi, perchè i vostri cuori non si aggravino per crapula, o per ubriachezza, o per le preoccupazioni della vita, e perchè quel giorno non vi colga all'improvviso come un laccio;
35 like a trap. For it wil come down on all those living on the face of the earth.	35 perchè appunto a questo modo egli sopraggiungerà su tutti gli abitanti della terra.
36 Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to holdyour ground before the Son of man.'	36 Vegliate dunque e pregate sempre per poter schivare tutto quanto sta per accadere e comparire davanti al Figliuol dell'uomo».
37 All day long he would be in the Temple teaching, but would spend the night in the open on the hilcal ed the Mount of Olives.	37 Durante il giorno insegnava nel tempio e la notte usciva per ritirarsi sul monte degli Ulivi.
38 And from early morning the people thronged to him in the Temple to listen to him.	38 E tutto il popolo andava al mattino di buon'ora al tempio per ascoltarlo.
