Luke 21

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 Looking up, he saw rich people putting their offerings into the treasury;	1 Alzàti gli occhi, vide i ricchi che gettavano le loro offerte nel tesoro del tempio.
2 and he noticed a poverty-stricken widow putting in two smal coins,	2 Vide anche una vedova povera, che vi gettava due monetine,
3 and he said, 'I tell you truly, this poor widow has put in more than any of them;	3 e disse: «In verità vi dico: questa vedova, così povera, ha gettato più di tutti.
4 for these have al put in money they could spare, but she in her poverty has put in al she had to liveon.'	4 Tutti costoro, infatti, hanno gettato come offerta parte del loro superfluo. Ella invece, nella sua miseria, ha gettato tutto quello che aveva per vivere».
5 When some were talking about the Temple, remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework andvotive offerings, he said,	5 Mentre alcuni parlavano del tempio, che era ornato di belle pietre e di doni votivi, disse:
6 'Al these things you are staring at now -- the time will come when not a single stone will be left onanother; everything will be destroyed.'	6 «Verranno giorni nei quali, di quello che vedete, non sarà lasciata pietra su pietra che non sarà distrutta».
7 And they put to him this question, 'Master,' they said, 'when wil this happen, then, and what sign wilthere be that it is about to take place?'	7 Gli domandarono: «Maestro, quando dunque accadranno queste cose e quale sarà il segno, quando esse staranno per accadere?».
8 But he said, 'Take care not to be deceived, because many wil come using my name and saying, "I amthe one" and "The time is near at hand." Refuse to join them.	8 Rispose: «Badate di non lasciarvi ingannare. Molti infatti verranno nel mio nome dicendo: “Sono io”, e: “Il tempo è vicino”. Non andate dietro a loro!
9 And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be terrified, for this is something that must happenfirst, but the end wil not come at once.'	9 Quando sentirete di guerre e di rivoluzioni, non vi terrorizzate, perché prima devono avvenire queste cose, ma non è subito la fine».
10 Then he said to them, 'Nation wil fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.	10 Poi diceva loro: «Si solleverà nazione contro nazione e regno contro regno,
11 There wil be great earthquakes and plagues and famines in various places; there wil be terrifyingevents and great signs from heaven.	11 e vi saranno in diversi luoghi terremoti, carestie e pestilenze; vi saranno anche fatti terrificanti e segni grandiosi dal cielo.
12 'But before all this happens, you will be seized and persecuted; you will be handed over to thesynagogues and to imprisonment, and brought before kings and governors for the sake of my name	12 Ma prima di tutto questo metteranno le mani su di voi e vi perseguiteranno, consegnandovi alle sinagoghe e alle prigioni, trascinandovi davanti a re e governatori, a causa del mio nome.
13 -and that wil be your opportunity to bear witness.	13 Avrete allora occasione di dare testimonianza.
14 Make up your minds not to prepare your defence,	14 Mettetevi dunque in mente di non preparare prima la vostra difesa;
15 because I myself shal give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents wil be ableto resist or contradict.	15 io vi darò parola e sapienza, cosicché tutti i vostri avversari non potranno resistere né controbattere.
16 You wil be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relations and friends; and some of you wil be putto death.	16 Sarete traditi perfino dai genitori, dai fratelli, dai parenti e dagli amici, e uccideranno alcuni di voi;
17 You wil be hated universal y on account of my name,	17 sarete odiati da tutti a causa del mio nome.
18 but not a hair of your head wil be lost.	18 Ma nemmeno un capello del vostro capo andrà perduto.
19 Your perseverance wil win you your lives.	19 Con la vostra perseveranza salverete la vostra vita.
20 'When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you must realise that it wil soon be laiddesolate.	20 Quando vedrete Gerusalemme circondata da eserciti, allora sappiate che la sua devastazione è vicina.
21 Then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains, those inside the city must leave it, and those incountry districts must not take refuge in it.	21 Allora coloro che si trovano nella Giudea fuggano verso i monti, coloro che sono dentro la città se ne allontanino, e quelli che stanno in campagna non tornino in città;
22 For this is the time of retribution when al that scripture says must be fulfil ed.	22 quelli infatti saranno giorni di vendetta, affinché tutto ciò che è stato scritto si compia.
23 Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!	23 In quei giorni guai alle donne che sono incinte e a quelle che allattano, perché vi sarà grande calamità nel paese e ira contro questo popolo.
24 'For great misery wil descend on the land and retribution on this people. They will fal by the edge ofthe sword and be led captive to every gentile country; and Jerusalem wil be trampled down by the gentiles untiltheir time is complete.	24 Cadranno a fil di spada e saranno condotti prigionieri in tutte le nazioni; Gerusalemme sarà calpestata dai pagani finché i tempi dei pagani non siano compiuti.
25 'There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by theturmoil of the ocean and its waves;	25 Vi saranno segni nel sole, nella luna e nelle stelle, e sulla terra angoscia di popoli in ansia per il fragore del mare e dei flutti,
26 men fainting away with terror and fear at what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven wil beshaken.	26 mentre gli uomini moriranno per la paura e per l’attesa di ciò che dovrà accadere sulla terra. Le potenze dei cieli infatti saranno sconvolte.
27 And then they wil see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.	27 Allora vedranno il Figlio dell’uomo venire su una nube con grande potenza e gloria.
28 When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation isnear at hand.'	28 Quando cominceranno ad accadere queste cose, risollevatevi e alzate il capo, perché la vostra liberazione è vicina».
29 And he told them a parable, 'Look at the fig tree and indeed every tree.	29 E disse loro una parabola: «Osservate la pianta di fico e tutti gli alberi:
30 As soon as you see them bud, you can see for yourselves that summer is now near.	30 quando già germogliano, capite voi stessi, guardandoli, che ormai l’estate è vicina.
31 So with you when you see these things happening: know that the kingdom of God is near.	31 Così anche voi: quando vedrete accadere queste cose, sappiate che il regno di Dio è vicino.
32 In truth I tell you, before this generation has passed away al wil have taken place.	32 In verità io vi dico: non passerà questa generazione prima che tutto avvenga.
33 Sky and earth wil pass away, but my words wil never pass away.	33 Il cielo e la terra passeranno, ma le mie parole non passeranno.
34 'Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened by debauchery and drunkenness and the caresof life, and that day wil come upon you unexpectedly,	34 State attenti a voi stessi, che i vostri cuori non si appesantiscano in dissipazioni, ubriachezze e affanni della vita e che quel giorno non vi piombi addosso all’improvviso;
35 like a trap. For it wil come down on all those living on the face of the earth.	35 come un laccio infatti esso si abbatterà sopra tutti coloro che abitano sulla faccia di tutta la terra.
36 Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to holdyour ground before the Son of man.'	36 Vegliate in ogni momento pregando, perché abbiate la forza di sfuggire a tutto ciò che sta per accadere e di comparire davanti al Figlio dell’uomo».
37 All day long he would be in the Temple teaching, but would spend the night in the open on the hilcal ed the Mount of Olives.	37 Durante il giorno insegnava nel tempio; la notte, usciva e pernottava all’aperto sul monte detto degli Ulivi.
38 And from early morning the people thronged to him in the Temple to listen to him.	38 E tutto il popolo di buon mattino andava da lui nel tempio per ascoltarlo.
