Luke 21

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Looking up, he saw rich people putting their offerings into the treasury;	1 Después, levantado los ojos, Jesús vio a unos ricos que ponían sus ofrendas en el tesoro del Templo.
2 and he noticed a poverty-stricken widow putting in two smal coins,	2 Vio también a una viuda de condición muy humilde, que ponía dos pequeñas monedas de cobre,
3 and he said, 'I tell you truly, this poor widow has put in more than any of them;	3 y dijo: «Les aseguro que esta pobre viuda ha dado más que a nadie.
4 for these have al put in money they could spare, but she in her poverty has put in al she had to liveon.'	4 Porque todos los demás dieron como ofrenda algo de lo que les sobraba, pero ella, de su indigencia, dio todo lo que tenía para vivir».
5 When some were talking about the Temple, remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework andvotive offerings, he said,	5 Y como algunos, hablando del Templo, decían que estaba adornado con hermosas piedras y ofrendas votivas, Jesús dijo:
6 'Al these things you are staring at now -- the time will come when not a single stone will be left onanother; everything will be destroyed.'	6 «De todo lo que ustedes contemplan, un día no quedará piedra sobre piedra: todo será destruido».
7 And they put to him this question, 'Master,' they said, 'when wil this happen, then, and what sign wilthere be that it is about to take place?'	7 Ellos le preguntaron» «Maestro, ¿cuándo tendrá lugar esto, y cuál será la señal de que va suceder?».
8 But he said, 'Take care not to be deceived, because many wil come using my name and saying, "I amthe one" and "The time is near at hand." Refuse to join them.	8 Jesús respondió: «Tengan cuidado, no se dejen engañar, porque muchos se presentarán en mi Nombre, diciendo: "Soy yo", y también: "El tiempo está cerca". No los sigan.
9 And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be terrified, for this is something that must happenfirst, but the end wil not come at once.'	9 Cuando oigan hablar de guerras y revoluciones no se alarmen; es necesario que esto ocurra antes, pero no llegará tan pronto el fin».
10 Then he said to them, 'Nation wil fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.	10 Después les dijo: «Se levantará nación contra nación y reino contra reino.
11 There wil be great earthquakes and plagues and famines in various places; there wil be terrifyingevents and great signs from heaven.	11 Habrá grandes terremotos; peste y hambre en muchas partes; se verán también fenómenos aterradores y grandes señales en cielo.
12 'But before all this happens, you will be seized and persecuted; you will be handed over to thesynagogues and to imprisonment, and brought before kings and governors for the sake of my name	12 Pero antes de todo eso, los detendrán, los perseguirán, los entregarán a las sinagogas y serán encarcelados; los llevarán ante reyes y gobernadores a causa de mi Nombre,
13 -and that wil be your opportunity to bear witness.	13 y esto les sucederá para que puedan dar testimonio de mí.
14 Make up your minds not to prepare your defence,	14 Tengan bien presente que no deberán preparar su defensa,
15 because I myself shal give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents wil be ableto resist or contradict.	15 porque yo mismo les daré una elocuencia y una sabiduría que ninguno de sus adversarios podrá resistir ni contradecir.
16 You wil be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relations and friends; and some of you wil be putto death.	16 Serán entregados hasta por sus propios padres y hermanos, por sus parientes y amigos; y a muchos de ustedes los matarán.
17 You wil be hated universal y on account of my name,	17 Serán odiados por todos a causa de mi Nombre.
18 but not a hair of your head wil be lost.	18 Pero ni siquiera un cabello se les caerá de la cabeza.
19 Your perseverance wil win you your lives.	19 Gracias a la constancia salvarán sus vidas.
20 'When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you must realise that it wil soon be laiddesolate.	20 Cuando vean a Jerusalén sitiada por los ejércitos, sepan que su ruina está próxima.
21 Then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains, those inside the city must leave it, and those incountry districts must not take refuge in it.	21 Los que estén en Judea, que se refugien en las montañas; los que estén dentro de la ciudad, que se alejen; y los que estén en los campos, que no vuelvan a ella.
22 For this is the time of retribution when al that scripture says must be fulfil ed.	22 Porque serán días de escarmiento, en que todo lo que está escrito deberá cumplirse.
23 Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!	23 ¡Ay de las que estén embarazadas o tengan niños de pecho en aquellos días! Será grande la desgracia de este país y la ira de Dios pesará sobre este pueblo.
24 'For great misery wil descend on the land and retribution on this people. They will fal by the edge ofthe sword and be led captive to every gentile country; and Jerusalem wil be trampled down by the gentiles untiltheir time is complete.	24 Caerán al filo de la espada, serán llevados cautivos a todas las naciones, y Jerusalén será pisoteada por los paganos, hasta que el tiempo de los paganos llegue a su cumplimiento.
25 'There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by theturmoil of the ocean and its waves;	25 Habrá señales en el sol, en la luna y en las estrellas; y en la tierra, los pueblos serán presa de la angustia ante el rugido del mar y la violencia de las olas.
26 men fainting away with terror and fear at what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven wil beshaken.	26 Los hombres desfallecerán de miedo por lo que sobrevendrá al mundo, porque los astros se conmoverán.
27 And then they wil see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.	27 Entonces se verá al Hijo del hombre venir sobre una nube, lleno de poder y de gloria.
28 When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation isnear at hand.'	28 Cuando comience a suceder esto, tengan ánimo y levanten la cabeza, porque está por llegarles la liberación».
29 And he told them a parable, 'Look at the fig tree and indeed every tree.	29 Y Jesús les hizo esta comparación: «Miren lo que sucede con la higuera o con cualquier otro árbol.
30 As soon as you see them bud, you can see for yourselves that summer is now near.	30 Cuando comienza a echar brotes, ustedes se dan cuenta de que se acerca el verano.
31 So with you when you see these things happening: know that the kingdom of God is near.	31 Así también, cuando vean que suceden todas estas cosas, sepan que el Reino de Dios está cerca.
32 In truth I tell you, before this generation has passed away al wil have taken place.	32 Les aseguro que no pasará esta generación hasta que se cumpla todo esto.
33 Sky and earth wil pass away, but my words wil never pass away.	33 El cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasarán.
34 'Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened by debauchery and drunkenness and the caresof life, and that day wil come upon you unexpectedly,	34 Tengan cuidado de no dejarse aturdir por los excesos, la embriaguez y las preocupaciones de la vida, para que ese día no caiga de improviso sobre ustedes
35 like a trap. For it wil come down on all those living on the face of the earth.	35 como una trampa, porque sobrevendrá a todos los hombres en toda la tierra.
36 Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to holdyour ground before the Son of man.'	36 Estén prevenidos y oren incesantemente, para quedar a salvo de todo lo que ha de ocurrir. Así podrán comparecer seguros ante del Hijo del hombre».
37 All day long he would be in the Temple teaching, but would spend the night in the open on the hilcal ed the Mount of Olives.	37 Durante el día enseñaba en el Templo, y por la noche se retiraba al monte llamado de los Olivos.
38 And from early morning the people thronged to him in the Temple to listen to him.	38 Y todo el pueblo madrugaba para ir al Templo a escucharlo.
