Luke 21

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Looking up, he saw rich people putting their offerings into the treasury;	1 Alzando la mirada, vió a unos ricos que echaban sus donativos en el arca del Tesoro;
2 and he noticed a poverty-stricken widow putting in two smal coins,	2 vio también a una viuda pobre que echaba allí dos moneditas,
3 and he said, 'I tell you truly, this poor widow has put in more than any of them;	3 y dijo: «De verdad os digo que esta viuda pobre ha echado más que todos.
4 for these have al put in money they could spare, but she in her poverty has put in al she had to liveon.'	4 Porque todos éstos han echado como donativo de lo que les sobraba, ésta en cambio ha echado de lo que necesitaba, todo cuanto tenía para vivir».
5 When some were talking about the Temple, remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework andvotive offerings, he said,	5 Como dijeran algunos, acerca del Templo, que estaba adornado de bellas piedras y ofrendas votivas, él dijo:
6 'Al these things you are staring at now -- the time will come when not a single stone will be left onanother; everything will be destroyed.'	6 «Esto que veis, llegarán días en que no quedará piedra sobre piedra que no sea derruida».
7 And they put to him this question, 'Master,' they said, 'when wil this happen, then, and what sign wilthere be that it is about to take place?'	7 Le preguntaron: «Maestro, ¿cuándo sucederá eso? Y ¿cuál será la señal de que todas estas cosas están para ocurrir?»
8 But he said, 'Take care not to be deceived, because many wil come using my name and saying, "I amthe one" and "The time is near at hand." Refuse to join them.	8 El dijo: «Mirad, no os dejéis engañar. Porque vendrán muchos usurpando mi nombre y diciendo: “Yo soy” y “el tiempo está cerca”. No les sigáis.
9 And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be terrified, for this is something that must happenfirst, but the end wil not come at once.'	9 Cuando oigáis hablar de guerras y revoluciones, no os aterréis; porque es necesario que sucedan primero estas cosas, pero el fin no es inmediato».
10 Then he said to them, 'Nation wil fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.	10 Entonces les dijo: «Se levantará nación contra nación y reino contra reino.
11 There wil be great earthquakes and plagues and famines in various places; there wil be terrifyingevents and great signs from heaven.	11 Habrá grandes terremotos, peste y hambre en diversos lugares, habrá cosas espantosas, y grandes señales del cielo.
12 'But before all this happens, you will be seized and persecuted; you will be handed over to thesynagogues and to imprisonment, and brought before kings and governors for the sake of my name	12 «Pero, antes de todo esto, os echarán mano y os perseguirán, entregándoos a las sinagogas y cárceles y llevándoos ante reyes y gobernadores por mi nombre;
13 -and that wil be your opportunity to bear witness.	13 esto os sucederá para que deis testimonio.
14 Make up your minds not to prepare your defence,	14 Proponed, pues, en vuestro corazón no preparar la defensa,
15 because I myself shal give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents wil be ableto resist or contradict.	15 porque yo os daré una elocuencia y una sabiduría a la que no podrán resistir ni contradecir todos vuestros adversarios.
16 You wil be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relations and friends; and some of you wil be putto death.	16 Seréis entregados por padres, hermanos, parientes y amigos, y matarán a algunos de vosotros,
17 You wil be hated universal y on account of my name,	17 y seréis odiados de todos por causa de mi nombre.
18 but not a hair of your head wil be lost.	18 Pero no perecerá ni un cabello de vuestra cabeza.
19 Your perseverance wil win you your lives.	19 Con vuestra perseverancia salvaréis vuestras almas.
20 'When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you must realise that it wil soon be laiddesolate.	20 «Cuando veáis a Jerusalén cercada por ejércitos, sabed entonces que se acerca su desolación.
21 Then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains, those inside the city must leave it, and those incountry districts must not take refuge in it.	21 Entonces, los que estén en Judea, huyan a los montes; y los que estén en medio de la ciudad, que se alejen; y los que estén en los campos, que no entren en ella;
22 For this is the time of retribution when al that scripture says must be fulfil ed.	22 porque éstos son días de venganza, y se cumplirá todo cuanto está escrito.
23 Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!	23 ¡Ay de las que estén encinta o criando en aquellos días! «Habrá, en efecto, una gran calamidad sobre la tierra, y Cólera contra este pueblo;
24 'For great misery wil descend on the land and retribution on this people. They will fal by the edge ofthe sword and be led captive to every gentile country; and Jerusalem wil be trampled down by the gentiles untiltheir time is complete.	24 y caerán a filo de espada, y serán llevados cautivos a todas las naciones, y Jerusalén será pisoteada por los gentiles, hasta que se cumpla el tiempo de los gentiles.
25 'There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by theturmoil of the ocean and its waves;	25 «Habrá señales en el sol, en la luna y en las estrellas; y en la tierra, angustia de las gentes, perplejas por el estruendo del mar y de las olas,
26 men fainting away with terror and fear at what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven wil beshaken.	26 muriéndose los hombres de terror y de ansiedad por las cosas que vendrán sobre el mundo; porque las fuerzas de los cielos serán sacudidas.
27 And then they wil see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.	27 Y entonces verán venir al Hijo del hombre en una nube con gran poder y gloria.
28 When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation isnear at hand.'	28 Cuando empiecen a suceder estas cosas, cobrad ánimo y levantad la cabeza porque se acerca vuestra liberación».
29 And he told them a parable, 'Look at the fig tree and indeed every tree.	29 Les añadió una parábola: «Mirad la higuera y todos los árboles.
30 As soon as you see them bud, you can see for yourselves that summer is now near.	30 Cuando ya echan brotes, al verlos, sabéis que el verano está ya cerca.
31 So with you when you see these things happening: know that the kingdom of God is near.	31 Así también vosotros, cuando veáis que sucede esto, sabed que el Reino de Dios está cerca.
32 In truth I tell you, before this generation has passed away al wil have taken place.	32 Yo os aseguro que no pasará esta generación hasta que todo esto suceda.
33 Sky and earth wil pass away, but my words wil never pass away.	33 El cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasarán.
34 'Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened by debauchery and drunkenness and the caresof life, and that day wil come upon you unexpectedly,	34 «Guardaos de que no se hagan pesados vuestros corazones por el libertinaje, por la embriaguez y por las preocupacines de la vida, y venga aquel Día de improviso sobre vosotros,
35 like a trap. For it wil come down on all those living on the face of the earth.	35 como un lazo; porque vendrá sobre todos los que habitan toda la faz de la tierra.
36 Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to holdyour ground before the Son of man.'	36 Estad en vela, pues, orando en todo tiempo para que tengáis fuerza y escapéis a todo lo que está para venir, y podáis estar en pie delante del Hijo del hombre».
37 All day long he would be in the Temple teaching, but would spend the night in the open on the hilcal ed the Mount of Olives.	37 Por el día enseñaba en el Templo y salía a pasar la noche en el monte llamado de los Olivos.
38 And from early morning the people thronged to him in the Temple to listen to him.	38 Y todo el pueblo madrugaba para ir donde él y escucharle en el Templo.
