Leviticus 20

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	1 Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen dicens:
2 'Say to the Israelites: "Anyone, be he Israelite or alien resident in Israel, who gives any of his childrento Molech, wil be put to death. The people of the country must stone him,	2 “ Haec lo queris filiis Israel: Homo de filiis Israel et de advenis, qui habitant in Israel, si dederit de semine suo idolo Moloch, morte moriatur: populus terrae lapidabit eum.
3 and I shall set my face against that man and outlaw him from his people; for by giving a child of his toMolech he has defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name.	3 Et ego ponam faciem meam contra illum; succidamque eum de medio populi sui, eo quod dederit de semine suo Moloch et contaminaverit sanctuarium meum ac polluerit nomen sanctum meum.
4 If the people of the country choose to close their eyes to the man's action when he gives a child of histo Molech, and do not put him to death,	4 Quod si clauserit populus terrae oculos suos, ne videat hominem illum, qui dederit de semine suo Moloch, nec voluerit eum occidere,
5 I myself shal turn my face against that man and his clan. I shal outlaw them from their people, bothhim and all those after him who prostitute themselves by fol owing Molech.	5 ponam ego faciem meam super hominem illum et cognationem eius succidamque et ipsum et omnes, qui consenserunt ei, ut fornicarentur cum Moloch, de medio populi sui.
6 "If anyone has recourse to the spirits of the dead or to magicians, to prostitute himself by followingthem, I shal set my face against him and outlaw him from his people.	6 Anima, quae declinaverit ad pythones et hariolos et fornicata fuerit cum eis, ponam faciem meam contra eam et interficiam illam de medio populi sui.
7 "Sanctify yourselves and be holy, for I am Yahweh your God.	7 Sanctificamini et estote sancti, quia ego Dominus Deus vester.
8 "You wil keep my laws and put them into practice, for it is I, Yahweh, who make you holy.	8 Custodite praecepta mea et facite ea. Ego Dominus, qui sanctifico vos.
9 Hence: "Anyone who curses father or mother wil be put to death. Having cursed father or mother, theblood wil be on that person's own head.	9 Qui maledixerit patri suo et matri, morte moriatur; qui patri matrique maledixit, sanguis eius sit super eum.
10 "The man who commits adultery with his neighbour's wife wil be put to death, he and the woman.	10 Si moechatus quis fuerit cum uxore alterius et adulterium perpetrarit cum coniuge proximi sui, morte moriantur et moechus et adultera.
11 "The man who has intercourse with his father's wife has infringed his father's sexual prerogative. Bothof them wil be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.	11 Qui dormierit cum noverca sua et revelaverit ignominiam patris sui, morte moriantur ambo: sanguis eorum sit super eos.
12 "The man who has intercourse with his daughter-in-law: both of them wil be put to death; they haveviolated nature, their blood wil be on their own heads.	12 Si quis dormierit cum nuru sua, uterque moriatur, quia scelus operati sunt: sanguis eorum sit super eos.
13 "The man who has intercourse with a man in the same way as with a woman: they have done ahateful thing together; they wil be put to death; their blood wil be on their own heads.	13 Qui dormierit cum masculo coitu femineo, uterque operatus est nefas, morte moriantur: sit sanguis eorum super eos.
14 "The man who marries a woman and her mother: this is incest. They wil be burnt alive, he and they;you wil not tolerate incest.	14 Qui supra uxorem filiam duxerit matrem eius, scelus operatus est: vivus ardebit cum eis, nec permanebit tantum nefas in medio vestri.
15 "The man who has intercourse with an animal will be put to death; you wil kil the animal too.	15 Qui cum iumento et pecore coierit, morte moriatur; pecus quoque occidite.
16 "The woman who approaches any animal to have intercourse with it: you will kil the woman and theanimal. They wil be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.	16 Mulier, quae succubuerit cuilibet iumento, simul interficies illam cum eo, morte moriantur: sanguis eorum sit super eos.
17 "The man who marries his father's or his mother's daughter: if they have intercourse together, this isan outrage. They wil be executed in public, for the man has had intercourse with his sister; he wil bear theconsequences of his guilt.	17 Qui acceperit sororem suam filiam patris sui vel filiam matris suae et viderit turpitudinem eius, illaque conspexerit fratris ignominiam, nefaria res est; occidentur in conspectu populi sui, eo quod turpitudinem sororis suae revelaverit, portabit iniquitatem suam.
18 "The man who has intercourse with a woman during her monthly periods and exposes hernakedness: he has laid bare the source of her blood, and she has exposed the source of her blood, and both ofthem wil be outlawed from their people.	18 Qui coierit cum muliere in fluxu menstruo et revelaverit turpitudinem eius ­ fontem eius nudavit, ipsaque aperuit fontem sanguinis sui ­ interficientur ambo de medio populi sui.
19 "You will not have intercourse with your mother's sister or your father's sister. Whoever does so, hashad intercourse with a close relation; they wil bear the consequences of their guilt.	19 Turpitudinem materterae et amitae tuae non discooperies; qui hoc fecerit, ignominiam carnis suae nudavit; portabunt ambo iniquitatem suam.
20 "The man who has intercourse with the wife of his paternal uncle has infringed his uncle's sexualprerogative; they wil bear the consequences of their guilt and die childless.	20 Qui coierit cum uxore patrui vel avunculi sui et revelaverit ignominiam cognationis suae, portabunt ambo peccatum suum: absque liberis morientur.
21 "The man who marries his brother's wife: this is pol ution; he has infringed his brother's sexualprerogative; they wil die childless.	21 Qui duxerit uxorem fratris sui, immunditia est, turpitudinem fratris sui revelavit: absque liberis erunt.
22 "You will keep al my laws, al my decisions, and put them into practice, so that the country where Iam taking you to live wil not vomit you out.	22 Custodite omnes leges meas atque omnia iudicia et facite ea, ne et vos evomat terra, quam intraturi estis et habitaturi.
23 You wil not fol ow the laws of the nations whom I am driving out before you; they practised al thesethings, which is why I detested them.	23 Nolite ambulare in legitimis nationum, quas ego expulsurus sum ante vos. Omnia enim haec fecerunt, et abominatus sum eas
24 As I have already told you, you wil take possession of their soil, I myself shal give you possession ofit, a country flowing with milk and honey. "Since I, Yahweh your God, have set you apart from these peoples,	24 locutusque sum vobis: Vos possidebitis terram eorum, et ego dabo eam vobis in hereditatem, terram fluentem lacte et melle. Ego Dominus Deus vester, qui separavi vos a ceteris populis.
25 you for your part wil make a distinction between clean animals and unclean ones and betweenunclean birds and clean ones, and wil not make yourselves detestable with any animal or bird or reptile, which Ihave set apart from you as unclean.	25 Separate ergo et vos iumentum mundum ab immundo et avem immundam a munda, ne polluatis animas vestras in pecore et in avibus et cunctis, quae moventur in terra, et quae vobis separavi tamquam immunda.
26 "Be consecrated to me, for I, Yahweh, am holy, and I shall set you apart from all these peoples, foryou to be mine.	26 Eritis mihi sancti, quia sanctus sum ego Dominus et separavi vos a ceteris populis, ut essetis mei.
27 "Any man or woman of yours who is a necromancer or magician will be put to death; they wil bestoned to death; their blood wil be on their own heads." '	27 Vir sive mulier, in quibus pythonicus vel divinationis fuerit spiritus, morte moriantur; lapidibus obruent eos: sanguis eorum sit super illos ”.
