Leviticus 20

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
2 'Say to the Israelites: "Anyone, be he Israelite or alien resident in Israel, who gives any of his childrento Molech, wil be put to death. The people of the country must stone him,	2 Tu diras aux Israélites: Quiconque, Israélite ou étranger résidant en Israël, livre de ses fils àMolek devra mourir. Les gens du pays le lapideront,
3 and I shall set my face against that man and outlaw him from his people; for by giving a child of his toMolech he has defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name.	3 je me tournerai contre cet homme et le retrancherai du milieu de son peuple, car en ayant livrél'un de ses fils à Molek il aura souillé mon sanctuaire et profané mon saint nom.
4 If the people of the country choose to close their eyes to the man's action when he gives a child of histo Molech, and do not put him to death,	4 Si les gens du pays veulent fermer les yeux sur cet homme quand il livre l'un de ses fils à Moleket ne le mettent pas à mort,
5 I myself shal turn my face against that man and his clan. I shal outlaw them from their people, bothhim and all those after him who prostitute themselves by fol owing Molech.	5 c'est moi qui m'opposerai à cet homme et à son clan. Je les retrancherai du milieu de leur peuple,lui et tous ceux qui après lui iront se prostituer à la suite de Molek.
6 "If anyone has recourse to the spirits of the dead or to magicians, to prostitute himself by followingthem, I shal set my face against him and outlaw him from his people.	6 Celui qui s'adressera aux spectres et aux devins pour se prostituer à leur suite, je me tourneraicontre cet homme-là et je le retrancherai du milieu de son peuple.
7 "Sanctify yourselves and be holy, for I am Yahweh your God.	7 Vous vous sanctifierez pour être saints, car je suis Yahvé votre Dieu.
8 "You wil keep my laws and put them into practice, for it is I, Yahweh, who make you holy.	8 Vous garderez mes lois et vous les mettrez en pratique, car c'est moi Yahvé qui vous rendssaints.
9 Hence: "Anyone who curses father or mother wil be put to death. Having cursed father or mother, theblood wil be on that person's own head.	9 Donc: Quiconque maudira son père ou sa mère devra mourir. Puisqu'il a maudit son père ou samère, son sang retombera sur lui-même.
10 "The man who commits adultery with his neighbour's wife wil be put to death, he and the woman.	10 L'homme qui commet l'adultère avec la femme de son prochain devra mourir, lui et sacomplice.
11 "The man who has intercourse with his father's wife has infringed his father's sexual prerogative. Bothof them wil be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.	11 L'homme qui couche avec la femme de son père a découvert la nudité de son père. Tous deuxdevront mourir, leur sang retombera sur eux.
12 "The man who has intercourse with his daughter-in-law: both of them wil be put to death; they haveviolated nature, their blood wil be on their own heads.	12 L'homme qui couche avec sa belle-fille: tous deux devront mourir. Ils se sont souillés, leur sangretombera sur eux.
13 "The man who has intercourse with a man in the same way as with a woman: they have done ahateful thing together; they wil be put to death; their blood wil be on their own heads.	13 L'homme qui couche avec un homme comme on couche avec une femme: c'est uneabomination qu'ils ont tous deux commise, ils devront mourir, leur sang retombera sur eux.
14 "The man who marries a woman and her mother: this is incest. They wil be burnt alive, he and they;you wil not tolerate incest.	14 L'homme qui prend pour épouses une femme et sa mère: c'est un inceste. On les brûlera, lui etelles, pour qu'il n'y ait point chez vous d'inceste.
15 "The man who has intercourse with an animal will be put to death; you wil kil the animal too.	15 L'homme qui donne sa couche à une bête: il devra mourir et vous tuerez la bête.
16 "The woman who approaches any animal to have intercourse with it: you will kil the woman and theanimal. They wil be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.	16 La femme qui s'approche d'un animal quelconque pour s'accoupler à lui: tu tueras la femme etl'animal. Ils devront mourir, leur sang retombera sur eux.
17 "The man who marries his father's or his mother's daughter: if they have intercourse together, this isan outrage. They wil be executed in public, for the man has had intercourse with his sister; he wil bear theconsequences of his guilt.	17 L'homme qui prend pour épouse sa soeur, la fille de son père ou la fille de sa mère: s'il voit sanudité et qu'elle voie la sienne, c'est une ignominie. Ils seront exterminés sous les yeux des membres de leurpeuple, car il a découvert la nudité de sa soeur et il portera le poids de sa faute.
18 "The man who has intercourse with a woman during her monthly periods and exposes hernakedness: he has laid bare the source of her blood, and she has exposed the source of her blood, and both ofthem wil be outlawed from their people.	18 L'homme qui couche avec une femme pendant ses règles et découvre sa nudité: il a mis à nu lasource de son sang, elle-même a découvert la source de son sang, aussi tous deux seront retranchés du milieu deleur peuple.
19 "You will not have intercourse with your mother's sister or your father's sister. Whoever does so, hashad intercourse with a close relation; they wil bear the consequences of their guilt.	19 Tu ne découvriras pas la nudité de la soeur de ta mère ni celle de la soeur de ton père. Il a mis ànu sa propre chair, ils porteront le poids de leur faute.
20 "The man who has intercourse with the wife of his paternal uncle has infringed his uncle's sexualprerogative; they wil bear the consequences of their guilt and die childless.	20 L'homme qui couche avec la femme de son oncle paternel: il a découvert la nudité de celui-ci,ils porteront le poids de leur péché et mourront sans enfant.
21 "The man who marries his brother's wife: this is pol ution; he has infringed his brother's sexualprerogative; they wil die childless.	21 L'homme qui prend pour épouse la femme de son frère: c'est une souillure, il a découvert lanudité de son frère, ils mourront sans enfant.
22 "You will keep al my laws, al my decisions, and put them into practice, so that the country where Iam taking you to live wil not vomit you out.	22 Vous garderez toutes mes lois, toutes mes coutumes, et vous les mettrez en pratique; ainsi nevous vomira pas le pays où je vous conduis pour y demeurer.
23 You wil not fol ow the laws of the nations whom I am driving out before you; they practised al thesethings, which is why I detested them.	23 Vous ne suivrez pas les lois des nations que je chasse devant vous car elles ont pratiqué toutesces choses et je les ai prises en dégoût.
24 As I have already told you, you wil take possession of their soil, I myself shal give you possession ofit, a country flowing with milk and honey. "Since I, Yahweh your God, have set you apart from these peoples,	24 Aussi vous ai-je dit: "Vous prendrez possession de leur sol, je vous en donnerai moi-même lapossession, une terre qui ruisselle de lait et de miel." C'est moi Yahvé votre Dieu qui vous ai mis à part de cespeuples.
25 you for your part wil make a distinction between clean animals and unclean ones and betweenunclean birds and clean ones, and wil not make yourselves detestable with any animal or bird or reptile, which Ihave set apart from you as unclean.	25 Mettez donc la bête pure à part de l'impure, l'oiseau pur à part de l'impur. Ne vous rendez pasvous-mêmes immondes avec ces bêtes, ces oiseaux, avec tout ce qui rampe sur le sol: je vous les ai fait mettre àpart comme impurs.
26 "Be consecrated to me, for I, Yahweh, am holy, and I shall set you apart from all these peoples, foryou to be mine.	26 Soyez-moi consacrés puisque moi, Yahvé, je suis saint, et je vous mettrai à part de tous cespeuples pour que vous soyez à moi.
27 "Any man or woman of yours who is a necromancer or magician will be put to death; they wil bestoned to death; their blood wil be on their own heads." '	27 L'homme ou la femme qui parmi vous serait nécromant ou devin: ils seront mis à mort, on leslapidera, leur sang retombera sur eux.
