Leviticus 19

NEW JERUSALEM	VULGATA
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	1 Locutus est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens :
2 'Speak to the whole community of Israelites and say: "Be holy, for I, Yahweh your God, am holy.	2 Loquere ad omnem cœtum filiorum Israël, et dices ad eos : Sancti estote, quia ego sanctus sum, Dominus Deus vester.
3 "Each of you wil respect father and mother. "And you wil keep my Sabbaths; I am Yahweh your God.	3 Unusquisque patrem suum, et matrem suam timeat. Sabbata mea custodite. Ego Dominus Deus vester.
4 "Do not turn to idols and do not cast metal gods for yourselves. I am Yahweh your God.	4 Nolite converti ad idola, nec deos conflatiles faciatis vobis. Ego Dominus Deus vester.
5 "If you offer a communion sacrifice to Yahweh, make it in such a way as to be acceptable.	5 Si immolaveritis hostiam pacificorum Domino, ut sit placabilis,
6 It must be eaten the same day or the day after; whatever is left on the third day must be burnt.	6 eo die quo fuerit immolata, comedetis eam, et die altero : quidquid autem residuum fuerit in diem tertium, igne comburetis.
7 If eaten on the third day it would be rotten food and not be acceptable.	7 Si quis post biduum comederit ex ea, profanus erit, et impietatis reus :
8 Anyone who eats it must bear the consequences of this guilt, having profaned Yahweh's holiness; thatperson wil be outlawed from his people.	8 portabitque iniquitatem suam, quia sanctum Domini polluit, et peribit anima illa de populo suo.
9 "When you reap the harvest of your land, you wil not reap to the very edges of the field, nor wil yougather the gleanings of the harvest;	9 Cumque messueris segetes terræ tuæ, non tondebis usque ad solum superficiem terræ, nec remanentes spicas colliges,
10 nor wil you strip your vineyard bare, nor pick up the fal en grapes. You will leave them for the poorand the stranger. I am Yahweh your God.	10 neque in vinea tua racemos et grana decidentia congregabis : sed pauperibus et peregrinis carpenda dimittes. Ego Dominus Deus vester.
11 "You will not steal, nor deal deceitful y or fraudulently with your fel ow-citizen.	11 Non facietis furtum. Non mentiemini, nec decipiet unusquisque proximum suum.
12 You wil not swear by my name with intent to deceive and thus profane the name of your God. I amYahweh.	12 Non perjurabis in nomine meo, nec pollues nomen Dei tui. Ego Dominus.
13 You wil not exploit or rob your fel ow. You wil not keep back the labourer's wage until next morning.	13 Non facies calumniam proximo tuo nec vi opprimes eum. Non morabitur opus mercenarii tui apud te usque mane.
14 You wil not curse the dumb or put an obstacle in the way of the blind, but will fear your God. I amYahweh.	14 Non maledices surdo, nec coram cæco pones offendiculum : sed timebis Dominum Deum tuum, quia ego sum Dominus.
15 "You will not be unjust in administering justice. You wil neither be partial to the poor nor overawed bythe great, but will administer justice to your fel ow-citizen justly.	15 Non facies quod iniquum est, nec injuste judicabis. Non consideres personam pauperis, nec honores vultum potentis. Juste judica proximo tuo.
16 You wil not go about slandering your own family, nor will you put your neighbour's life in jeopardy. Iam Yahweh.	16 Non eris criminator, nec susurro in populo. Non stabis contra sanguinem proximi tui. Ego Dominus.
17 You wil not harbour hatred for your brother. You will reprove your fel ow-countryman firmly and thusavoid burdening yourself with a sin.	17 Non oderis fratrem tuum in corde tuo, sed publice argue eum, ne habeas super illo peccatum.
18 You wil not exact vengeance on, or bear any sort of grudge against, the members of your race, butwil love your neighbour as yourself. I am Yahweh.	18 Non quæras ultionem, nec memor eris injuriæ civium tuorum. Diliges amicum tuum sicut teipsum. Ego Dominus.
19 "You will keep my laws. "You will not mate your cattle with those of another kind; you wil not sow twokinds of grain in your field; you wil not wear a garment made from two kinds of fabric.	19 Leges meas custodite. Jumentum tuum non facies coire cum alterius generis animantibus. Agrum tuum non seres diverso semine. Veste, quæ ex duobus texta est, non indueris.
20 "If someone has intercourse with a woman who is the concubine slave of a man from whom she hasnot been redeemed and she has not been given her freedom, he wil be liable for a fine, but they will not incurdeath, since she was not a free woman.	20 Homo, si dormierit cum muliere coitu seminis, quæ sit ancilla etiam nubilis, et tamen pretio non redempta, nec libertate donata : vapulabunt ambo, et non morientur, quia non fuit libera.
21 He wil bring a sacrifice of reparation for Yahweh to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. This wil be aram of reparation,	21 Pro delicto autem suo offeret Domino ad ostium tabernaculi testimonii arietem :
22 and with the ram of reparation the priest wil perform the rite of expiation for him before Yahweh forthe sin committed; and the sin he has committed wil be forgiven.	22 orabitque pro eo sacerdos, et pro peccato ejus coram Domino, et repropitiabitur ei, dimitteturque peccatum.
23 "Once you have entered the country and planted any kind of fruit tree, you will regard its fruit asuncircumcised. For three years you wil count it as uncircumcised and it wil not be eaten;	23 Quando ingressi fueritis terram, et plantaveritis in ea ligna pomifera, auferetis præputia eorum : poma, quæ germinant, immunda erunt vobis, nec edetis ex eis.
24 in the fourth year, al its fruit wil be consecrated to Yahweh in a feast of praise;	24 Quarto autem anno omnis fructus eorum sanctificabitur, laudabilis Domino.
25 and in the fifth year you may eat its fruit, so that it may yield you even more. I am Yahweh your God.	25 Quinto autem anno comedetis fructus, congregantes poma, quæ proferunt. Ego Dominus Deus vester.
26 "You will eat nothing with blood in it. You wil not practise divination or magic.	26 Non comedetis cum sanguine. Non augurabimini, nec observabitis somnia.
27 "You will not round off your hair at the edges or trim the edges of your beard.	27 Neque in rotundum attondebitis comam, nec radetis barbam.
28 You wil not gash your bodies when someone dies, and you will not tattoo yourselves. I am Yahweh.	28 Et super mortuo non incidetis carnem vestram, neque figuras aliquas aut stigmata facietis vobis. Ego Dominus.
29 "Do not profane your daughter by making her a prostitute, or the country itself will become prostitutedand fil ed with incest.	29 Ne prostituas filiam tuam, ne contaminetur terra et impleatur piaculo.
30 "You will keep my Sabbaths and revere my sanctuary. I am Yahweh.	30 Sabbata mea custodite, et sanctuarium meum metuite. Ego Dominus.
31 "Do not have recourse to the spirits of the dead or to magicians; they wil defile you. I, Yahweh, amyour God.	31 Non declinetis ad magos, nec ab ariolis aliquid sciscitemini, ut polluamini per eos. Ego Dominus Deus vester.
32 "You will stand up in the presence of grey hair, you wil honour the person of the aged and fear yourGod. I am Yahweh.	32 Coram cano capite consurge, et honora personam senis : et time Dominum Deum tuum. Ego sum Dominus.
33 "If you have resident aliens in your country, you wil not molest them.	33 Si habitaverit advena in terra vestra, et moratus fuerit inter vos, non exprobretis ei :
34 You wil treat resident aliens as though they were native-born and love them as yourself -- for youyourselves were once aliens in Egypt. I am Yahweh your God.	34 sed sit inter vos quasi indigena, et diligetis eum quasi vosmetipsos : fuistis enim et vos advenæ in terra Ægypti. Ego Dominus Deus vester.
35 "You will not be unjust in administering justice as regards measures of length, weight or capacity.	35 Nolite facere iniquum aliquid in judicio, in regula, in pondere, in mensura.
36 You wil have just scales, just weights, a just ephah and a just hin. I am Yahweh your God whobrought you out of Egypt;	36 Statera justa, et æqua sint pondera, justus modius, æquusque sextarius. Ego Dominus Deus vester, qui eduxi vos de terra Ægypti.
37 hence you are to keep al my laws and all my customs and put them into practice. I am Yahweh." '	37 Custodite omnia præcepta mea, et universa judicia, et facite ea. Ego Dominus.
