The vision of Isaiah son of Amoz, concerning Judah and Jerusalem.1 The word that Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
It wil happen in the final days that the mountain of Yahweh's house wil rise higher than the mountainsand tower above the heights. Then al the nations will stream to it,2 And in the last days, the mountain of the house of the Lord will be prepared at the summit of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills, and all the nations shall flow to it.
many peoples will come to it and say, 'Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house ofthe God of Jacob that he may teach us his ways so that we may walk in his paths.' For the Law wil issue fromZion and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.3 And many peoples will go, and they will say: “Let us approach and ascend to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob. And he will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths.” For the law will go forth from Zion, and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
Then he wil judge between the nations and arbitrate between many peoples. They wil hammer theirswords into ploughshares and their spears into sickles. Nation wil not lift sword against nation, no longer wilthey learn how to make war.4 And he will judge the nations, and he will rebuke many peoples. And they shall forge their swords into plowshares, and their spears into sickles. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they continue to train for battle.
House of Jacob, come, let us walk in Yahweh's light.5 O house of Jacob, let us approach and walk in the light of the Lord.
You have rejected your people, the House of Jacob, for it has long been ful of sorcerers like thePhilistines, and is overrun with foreigners.6 For you have cast aside your people, the house of Jacob, because they have been filled up, as in past times, and because they have had soothsayers as the Philistines have, and because they have joined themselves to foreign servants.
The country is ful of silver and gold and treasures unlimited, the country is ful of horses, its chariots areunlimited;7 Their land has been filled with silver and gold. And there is no end to their storehouses.
the country is full of idols. They bow down before the work of their hands, before what their own fingershave made.8 And their land has been filled with horses. And their four-horse chariots are innumerable. And their land has been filled with idols. They have adored the work of their hands, which their own fingers have made.
Human nature has been humbled, humankind brought low: do not raise them again!9 And man has bowed himself down, and so man has become debased. Therefore, you should not forgive them.
Go into the rock, hide in the dust, in terror of Yahweh, at the bril iance of his majesty, when he arises tomake the earth quake.10 Enter into the rock, and hide in a ditch in the soil, from the presence of the fear of the Lord, and from the glory of his majesty.
Human pride wil lower its eyes, human arrogance will be humbled, and Yahweh alone wil be exalted,on that day.11 The lofty eyes of man have been humbled, and the haughtiness of men will be bowed down. Then the Lord alone shall be exalted, in that day.
That wil be a day for Yahweh Sabaoth, for all who are majestic and haughty, for al who are proud, tobe brought low,12 For the day of the Lord of hosts will prevail over all the proud and self-exalted, and over all the arrogant, and each one shall be humbled,
for all the cedars of Lebanon, high and proud, and for al the oaks of Bashan;13 and over all the straight and tall cedars of Lebanon, and over all the oaks of Bashan;
for all the high mountains and for al the proud hil s;14 and over all the lofty mountains, and over all the elevated hills;
for every lofty tower and for every towering wal ;15 and over every lofty tower, and over every fortified wall;
for all the ships of Tarshish and for everything held precious.16 and over all the ships of Tarshish, and over all the beauty that may be seen.
Human pride wil be humbled, human arrogance brought low, and Yahweh alone wil be exalted, on thatday.17 And the loftiness of men will be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men will be brought low. And the Lord alone shall be exalted, in that day.
When the idols al disappear,18 And idols will be thoroughly crushed.
they wil go into the caverns of the rocks and into the fissures of the earth in terror of Yahweh, at thebrilliance of his majesty, when he arises to make the earth quake.19 And they will go into the caves of the rocks, and into the caverns of the earth, from the presence of the dread of the Lord, and from the glory of his majesty, when he will have risen up to strike the earth.
That day, people wil fling to moles and bats the silver idols and golden idols which have been made forthem to worship,20 In that day, man shall cast aside his idols of silver and his images of gold, which he had made for himself, as if to reverence the moles and the bats.
and go into the crevices of the rocks and the clefts in the cliffs, in terror of Yahweh, at the brilliance ofhis majesty, when he arises to make the earth quake.21 And so he will go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the caverns of stone, from the presence of the dread of the Lord, and from the glory of his majesty, when he will have risen up to strike the earth.
Have no more to do with humankind, which has only the breath in its nostrils. How much is this worth?22 Therefore, rest away from man, whose breath is in his nostrils, for he considers himself to be exalted.
