Sirach 14

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Blessed is anyone who has not sinned in speech and who needs feel no remorse for sins.	1 Beato l'uomo che non è caduto in colpe colle parole della sua bocca e non è straziato dal rimorso del delitto.
2 Blessed is anyone whose conscience brings no reproach and who has never given up hope.	2 Felice colui che non ha provata la tristezza dell'anima e non ha perduta la sua speranza.
3 Wealth is not the right thing for the niggardly, and what use are possessions to the covetous?	3 Per l'uomo cupido e attaccato sono senza scopo le ricchezze. L'avaro che se ne fa dell'oro?
4 Whoever hoards by stinting himself is hoarding for others, and others wil live sumptuously on hisriches.	4 Chi con sacrifizio ingiustamente accumula, accumula per altri: un altro si darà ai piaceri coi suoi beni.
5 If someone is mean to himself, whom does he benefit? he does not even enjoy what is his own.	5 Uno che è cattivo con se stesso con chi sarà buono? Egli non ritrae alcuna soddisfazione dai suoi beni.
6 No one is meaner than the person who is mean to himself, this is how his wickedness repays him.	6 Nulla v'ha di più iniquo di colui che invidia se stesso, e questa è la mercede della sua malvagità;
7 If he does any good, he does it unintentional y, and in the end he himself reveals his wickedness.	7 e se egli fa del bene, lo fa senza saperlo e senza volerlo, e alla fine manifesta la sua malizia.
8 Wicked the person who has an envious eye, averting his face, and careless of others' lives.	8 Cattivo è l'occhio dell'invidioso: egli volta altrove la faccia e disprezza l'anima propria.
9 The eye of the grasping is not content with what he has, greed shrivels up the soul.	9 L'occhio dell'ingordo non è saziato da una porzione ingiusta, non si sazierà fino a tanto che non avrà strutta e consumata la sua vita.
10 The miser is grudging of bread, there is famine at his table.	10 L'occhio maligno tende al male, non si caverà la fame col pane e resterà affamato e triste sopra la sua mensa.
11 My child, treat yourself as wel as you can afford, and bring worthy offerings to the Lord.	11 Figlio, di quello che hai, fatti del bene, e fanne degne offerte a Dio.
12 Remember that death wil not delay, and that you have never seen Sheol's contract.	12 Ricordati che la morte non tarda, e che la legge del sepolcro ti è dimostrata, e che la legge di questo mondo è di morire inesorabilmente.
13 Be kind to your friend before you die, treat him as generously as you can afford.	13 Il bene all'amico fallo avanti di morire, e secondo le tue forze stendi la mano al povero.
14 Do not refuse yourself the good things of today, do not let your share of what is lawfully desired passyou by.	14 Non ti privare d'una buona giornata e dell'ottimo dono non perdere parte alcuna.
15 Wil you not have to leave your fortune to another, and the fruit of your labour to be divided by lot?	15 Non dovrai lasciare ad altri i tuoi sudori? E le tue fatiche non saran divise a sorte?
16 Give and receive, enjoy yourself -- there are no pleasures to be found in Sheol.	16 Dà e ricevi e rendi santa l'anima tua;
17 Like clothes, every body wil wear out, the age -- old law is, 'Everyone must die.'	17 pratica la giustizia prima della morte, perchè non si trova nutrimento sotto terra.
18 Like foliage growing on a bushy tree, some leaves fal ing, others growing, so are the generations offlesh and blood: one dies, another is born.	18 Ogni carne appassirà come erba, come foglie spuntate su verde pianta:
19 Every achievement rots away and perishes, and with it goes its author.	19 altre nascono, altre cadono a terra; così le generazioni della carne e del sangue: una finisce e l'altra nasce.
20 Blessed is anyone who meditates on wisdom, and reasons with intelligence,	20 Tutte le opere corruttibili in fine spariranno, e con loro andrà chi l'ha fatte.
21 who studies her ways in his heart, and ponders her secrets.	21 E tutte le opere elette saranno approvate e chi l'ha fatte sarà in esse onorato.
22 He pursues her like a hunter, and lies in wait by her path;	22 Felice l'uomo che è costante nella sapienza, e medita la sua giustizia, e pensa nel suo spirito allo sguardo scrutatore di Dio;
23 he peeps in at her windows, and listens at her doors;	23 che va studiando nel suo cuore le vie di lei, e ne penetra gli arcani, e va dietro a lei per seguirne le tracce, e si ferma nelle sue vie;
24 he lodges close to her house, and fixes his peg in her wal s;	24 che riguarda per le finestre eli lei e sta ad ascoltare alla sua porta;
25 he pitches his tent at her side, and lodges in an excel ent lodging;	25 che prende domicilio accanto alla casa di lei, e, ficcato nei muri di lei il piòlo, alza accanto a lei la sua piccola tenda: nella sua piccola tenda vi dimorerà la felicità in eterno.
26 he sets his children in her shade, and camps beneath her branches;	26 Egli metterà i suoi figli sotto la protezione di lei, e riposerà sotto i suoi rami.
27 he is sheltered by her from the heat, and in her glory he makes his home.	27 E all'ombra di lei sarà difeso dal caldo: e riposerà nella sua Gloria.
