Proverbs 21

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Like flowing water is a king's heart in Yahweh's hand; he directs it wherever he pleases.	1 O coração do rei é uma água fluente nas mãos do Senhor: ele o inclina para qualquer parte que quiser.
2 All actions are straight in the doer's own eyes, but it is Yahweh who weighs hearts.	2 Os caminhos do homem parecem retos aos seus olhos, mas cabe ao Senhor pesar os corações.
3 To do what is upright and just is more pleasing to Yahweh than sacrifice.	3 A prática da justiça e da eqüidade vale aos olhos do Senhor mais que os sacrifícios.
4 Haughty eye, proud heart, lamp of the wicked, nothing but sin.	4 Olhares altivos ensoberbecem o coração; o luzeiro dos ímpios é o pecado.
5 The hardworking is thoughtful, and al is gain; too much haste, and all that comes of it is want.	5 Os planos do homem ativo produzem abundância; a precipitação só traz penúria.
6 To make a fortune with the help of a lying tongue: such is the idle fantasy of those who look for death.	6 Tesouros adquiridos pela mentira: vaidade passageira para os que procuram a morte.
7 The violence of the wicked proves their ruin, for they refuse to do what is right.	7 A violência dos ímpios os conduz à {ruína}, porque se recusam a praticar a justiça.
8 The way of the felon is devious, the conduct of the innocent straight.	8 O caminhos do perverso é tortuoso, mas o inocente age com retidão.
9 Better the corner of a roof to live on than a house shared with a quarrelsome woman.	9 Melhor é habitar num canto do terraço do que conviver com uma mulher impertinente.
10 The soul of the wicked is intent on evil, to such a person no neighbour can ever do right.	10 A alma do ímpio deseja o mal; nem mesmo seu amigo encontrará graça a seus olhos.
11 When a cynic is punished, simpletons grow wiser, but someone of understanding acquires knowledgeby instruction.	11 Quando se pune o zombador, o simples torna-se sábio; quando se adverte o sábio, ele adquire a ciência.
12 The Upright One watches the house of the wicked; he hurls the wicked to destruction.	12 O justo observa a cada do ímpio e precipita os maus na desventura.
13 Whoever refuses to listen to the cry of the weak, wil in turn plead and not be heard.	13 Quem se faz de surdo aos gritos do pobre não será ouvido, quando ele mesmo clamar.
14 Anger is mol ified by a covert gift, raging fury by a present under cover of the cloak.	14 Um presente dado sob o manto extingue a cólera; uma oferta concebida às ocultas acalma um furor violento.
15 Doing what is right fills the upright with joy, but evil-doers with terror.	15 Para o justo é uma alegria a prática da justiça, mas é um terror para aqueles que praticam a iniqüidade.
16 Whoever strays far from the way of prudence wil rest in the assembly of shadows.	16 O homem que se desvia do caminho da prudência repousará na companhia das trevas.
17 Pleasure-lovers stay poor, no one wil grow rich who loves wine and good living.	17 O que ama os banquetes será um homem indigente; o que ama o vinho e o óleo não se enriquecerá.
18 The wicked is a ransom for the upright; and the law-breaker for the honest.	18 O ímpio serve de resgate para o justo e o pérfido para os homens retos.
19 Better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and irritable woman.	19 Melhor é habitar no deserto do que com uma mulher impertinente e intrigante.
20 The wise has valuables and oil at home, but a fool soon runs through both.	20 Na casa do sábio há preciosas reservas e óleo; um homem imprudente, porém, os absorverá.
21 Whoever pursues uprightness and faithful love will find life, uprightness and honour.	21 Quem segue a justiça e a misericórdia, achará vida, justiça e glória.
22 A sage can scale a garrisoned city and shatter the rampart on which it relied.	22 O sábio toma de assalto a cidade dos heróis: destrói a fortaleza em que depositava confiança.
23 Watch kept over mouth and tongue keeps the watcher safe from disaster.	23 Quem vigia sua boca e sua língua preserva sua vida da angústia.
24 Insolent, haughty -- the name is 'Cynic'; overweening pride marks such behaviour.	24 Chamamos de zombador um soberbo arrogante, que age com orgulho desmedido.
25 The idler's desires are the death of him, since his hands wil do no work.	25 Os desejos do preguiçoso o matam porque suas mãos recusam o trabalho;
26 Al day long the godless is racked by desire, the upright gives without ever refusing.	26 passam todo o dia a desejar com ardor, mas quem é justo dá largamente.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent, above al if it is offered for bad motives.	27 O sacrifício dos ímpios é abominável, mormente quando o oferecem com má intenção.
28 The false witness wil perish, but no one who knows how to listen wil ever be silenced.	28 A testemunha mentirosa perecerá, mas o homem que escuta sempre poderá falar.
29 The wicked man's strength shows on his face, but the honest it is whose steps are firm.	29 O ímpio aparenta um ar firme; o homem correto consolida seu proceder.
30 No wisdom, no understanding, no advice is worth anything before Yahweh.	30 Nem a sabedoria, nem prudência, nem conselho podem prevalescer contra o Senhor.
31 Fit out the cavalry for the day of battle, but the victory is Yahweh's.	31 Prepara-se o cavalo para o dia da batalha, mas é do senhor que depende a vitória.
