Proverbs 21

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Like flowing water is a king's heart in Yahweh's hand; he directs it wherever he pleases.	1 Corriente de agua es el corazón del rey en la mano de Yahveh, que él dirige donde quiere.
2 All actions are straight in the doer's own eyes, but it is Yahweh who weighs hearts.	2 Al hombre le parecen rectos todos sus caminos, pero es Yahveh quien pesa los corazones.
3 To do what is upright and just is more pleasing to Yahweh than sacrifice.	3 Practicar la justicia y la equidad, es mejor ante Yahveh que el sacrificio.
4 Haughty eye, proud heart, lamp of the wicked, nothing but sin.	4 Ojos altivos, corazón arrogante, antorcha de malvados, es pecado.
5 The hardworking is thoughtful, and al is gain; too much haste, and all that comes of it is want.	5 Los proyectos del diligente, todo son ganancia; para el que se precipita, todo es indigencia.
6 To make a fortune with the help of a lying tongue: such is the idle fantasy of those who look for death.	6 Hacer tesoros con lengua engañosa, es vanidad fugitiva de quienes buscan la muerte.
7 The violence of the wicked proves their ruin, for they refuse to do what is right.	7 La violencia de los malos los domina, porque se niegan a practicar la equidad.
8 The way of the felon is devious, the conduct of the innocent straight.	8 Tortuoso es el camino del hombre criminal, pero el puro es recto en sus obras.
9 Better the corner of a roof to live on than a house shared with a quarrelsome woman.	9 Mejor es vivir en la esquina del terrado, que casa en común con mujer litigiosa.
10 The soul of the wicked is intent on evil, to such a person no neighbour can ever do right.	10 El alma del malvado desea el mal, su vecino no halla gracia a sus ojos.
11 When a cynic is punished, simpletons grow wiser, but someone of understanding acquires knowledgeby instruction.	11 Cuando se castiga al arrogante, el simple se hace sabio; cuando se instruye al sabio, adquiere ciencia.
12 The Upright One watches the house of the wicked; he hurls the wicked to destruction.	12 El Justo observa la casa del malvado, y arroja a los malvados a la desgracia.
13 Whoever refuses to listen to the cry of the weak, wil in turn plead and not be heard.	13 Quien cierra los oídos a las súplicas del débil clamará también él y no hallará respuesta.
14 Anger is mol ified by a covert gift, raging fury by a present under cover of the cloak.	14 Regalo a escondidas, aplaca la cólera, y obsequio oculto, la ira violenta.
15 Doing what is right fills the upright with joy, but evil-doers with terror.	15 Alegría para el justo es el cumplimiento de la justicia, pero horror para los que hacen el mal.
16 Whoever strays far from the way of prudence wil rest in the assembly of shadows.	16 El hombre que se aparta del camino de la prudencia reposará en la asamblea de las sombras.
17 Pleasure-lovers stay poor, no one wil grow rich who loves wine and good living.	17 Se arruina el hombre que ama el placer, no será rico el aficionado a banquetes.
18 The wicked is a ransom for the upright; and the law-breaker for the honest.	18 Rescate del justo es el malo, y en lugar de los rectos, el traidor.
19 Better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and irritable woman.	19 Mejor es habitar en el desierto que con mujer litigiosa y triste.
20 The wise has valuables and oil at home, but a fool soon runs through both.	20 Tesoro precioso y aceite en la casa del sabio, pero el hombre necio los devora.
21 Whoever pursues uprightness and faithful love will find life, uprightness and honour.	21 Quien va tras la justicia y el amor hallará vida, justicia y honor.
22 A sage can scale a garrisoned city and shatter the rampart on which it relied.	22 El sabio escala la ciudad de los fuertes, y derriba la fortaleza en que confiaban.
23 Watch kept over mouth and tongue keeps the watcher safe from disaster.	23 El que guarda su boca y su lengua, guarda su alma de la angustia.
24 Insolent, haughty -- the name is 'Cynic'; overweening pride marks such behaviour.	24 Al insolente y altivo se le llama: «arrogante»; actúa en el exceso de su insolencia.
25 The idler's desires are the death of him, since his hands wil do no work.	25 El deseo del perezoso le lleva a la muerte, porque sus manos rehúsan el trabajo.
26 Al day long the godless is racked by desire, the upright gives without ever refusing.	26 Todo el día está el malo codicioso; pero el justo da sin rehusar jamás.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent, above al if it is offered for bad motives.	27 El sacrificio de los malos es abominable, sobre todo si se ofrece con mala intención.
28 The false witness wil perish, but no one who knows how to listen wil ever be silenced.	28 El testigo falso perecerá, el hombre que escucha, por siempre podrá hablar.
29 The wicked man's strength shows on his face, but the honest it is whose steps are firm.	29 El hombre malo se muestra atrevido, el recto afianza su camino.
30 No wisdom, no understanding, no advice is worth anything before Yahweh.	30 No hay sabiduría, ni hay prudencia ni hay consejo, delante de Yahveh.
31 Fit out the cavalry for the day of battle, but the victory is Yahweh's.	31 Se prepara el caballo para el día del combate, pero la victoria es de Yahveh.
