Proverbs 21

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Like flowing water is a king's heart in Yahweh's hand; he directs it wherever he pleases.	1 El corazón del rey es una corriente de agua en manos del Señor: él lo dirige hacia donde quiere.
2 All actions are straight in the doer's own eyes, but it is Yahweh who weighs hearts.	2 Al hombre le parece que todo su camino es recto, pero el Señor pesa los corazones.
3 To do what is upright and just is more pleasing to Yahweh than sacrifice.	3 Practicar la justicia y el derecho agrada al Señor más que los sacrificios.
4 Haughty eye, proud heart, lamp of the wicked, nothing but sin.	4 Los ojos altaneros, el corazón arrogante, la luz de los malvados: todo eso es pecado.
5 The hardworking is thoughtful, and al is gain; too much haste, and all that comes of it is want.	5 Los proyectos del hombre laborioso son pura ganancia, el que se precipita acaba en la indigencia.
6 To make a fortune with the help of a lying tongue: such is the idle fantasy of those who look for death.	6 Tesoros adquiridos con engaños son ilusión fugaz de los que buscan la muerte.
7 The violence of the wicked proves their ruin, for they refuse to do what is right.	7 La rapiña de los malvados los arrastra a ellos mismos, porque se niegan a practicar el derecho.
8 The way of the felon is devious, the conduct of the innocent straight.	8 Tortuoso es el camino del criminal, pero el que es puro obra con rectitud.
9 Better the corner of a roof to live on than a house shared with a quarrelsome woman.	9 Más vale habitar en un rincón del techo que compartir la casa con una mujer pendenciera.
10 The soul of the wicked is intent on evil, to such a person no neighbour can ever do right.	10 El alma del malvado desea el mal, él no se apiada de su prójimo.
11 When a cynic is punished, simpletons grow wiser, but someone of understanding acquires knowledgeby instruction.	11 El simple se hace sabio cuando se castiga al insolente, y asimila la ciencia cuando se instruye al sabio.
12 The Upright One watches the house of the wicked; he hurls the wicked to destruction.	12 El justo observa la casa del malvado, y precipita en la desgracia a los malos.
13 Whoever refuses to listen to the cry of the weak, wil in turn plead and not be heard.	13 El que cierra los oídos al clamor del débil llamará y no se le responderá.
14 Anger is mol ified by a covert gift, raging fury by a present under cover of the cloak.	14 Un reglo hecho a escondidas aplaca la ira y un obsequio bajo cuerda, la furia violenta.
15 Doing what is right fills the upright with joy, but evil-doers with terror.	15 Practicar la justicia es una alegría para el justo, pero es una calamidad para los malhechores.
16 Whoever strays far from the way of prudence wil rest in the assembly of shadows.	16 El que se extravía del camino de la prudencia descansará en la Asamblea de las Sombras.
17 Pleasure-lovers stay poor, no one wil grow rich who loves wine and good living.	17 El que ama el placer termina en la indigencia, el que ama el vino y la buena vida no se enriquecerá.
18 The wicked is a ransom for the upright; and the law-breaker for the honest.	18 El malvado servirá de rescate por el justo y el traidor, por los hombres rectos.
19 Better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and irritable woman.	19 Más vale habitar en un país desierto que con una mujer pendenciera y de mal genio.
20 The wise has valuables and oil at home, but a fool soon runs through both.	20 En la morada del sabio hay tesoros preciosos y perfume, pero el necio se los devora.
21 Whoever pursues uprightness and faithful love will find life, uprightness and honour.	21 El que va tras la justicia y la fidelidad encontrará vida, justicia y honor.
22 A sage can scale a garrisoned city and shatter the rampart on which it relied.	22 El sabio toma por asalto una ciudad de valientes, y abate la fuerza en que ella confiaba.
23 Watch kept over mouth and tongue keeps the watcher safe from disaster.	23 El que guarda su boca y su lengua guarda su vida de las angustias.
24 Insolent, haughty -- the name is 'Cynic'; overweening pride marks such behaviour.	24 Insolente se lama al arrogante y altanero que actúa con excesiva soberbia.
25 The idler's desires are the death of him, since his hands wil do no work.	25 El deseo mata al perezoso, porque sus manos se niegan a trabajar.
26 Al day long the godless is racked by desire, the upright gives without ever refusing.	26 El malvado ambiciona todo el día, pero el justo da sin rehusar jamás.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent, above al if it is offered for bad motives.	27 El sacrificio de los malvados es una abominación, ¡cuánto más si se lo ofrece con infamia!
28 The false witness wil perish, but no one who knows how to listen wil ever be silenced.	28 El testigo mentiroso perecerá, pero el hombre que escucha, siempre podrá hablar.
29 The wicked man's strength shows on his face, but the honest it is whose steps are firm.	29 El malvado se muestra atrevido, pero el que es recto afianza su camino.
30 No wisdom, no understanding, no advice is worth anything before Yahweh.	30 No hay sabiduría, ni inteligencia, ni consejo delante del Señor.
31 Fit out the cavalry for the day of battle, but the victory is Yahweh's.	31 Se equipa el caballo para el día del combate, pero la victoria pertenece al Señor.
