Proverbs 21

1 Like flowing water is a king's heart in Yahweh's hand; he directs it wherever he pleases.	1 Il cuore del re è nella mano del Signore, come un'acqua, che si scompartisce: egli lo volgerà dovunque a lui piace.
2 All actions are straight in the doer's own eyes, but it is Yahweh who weighs hearts.	2 All'uomo sembrano diritte tutte le sue vie; ma il Signore pesa i cuori.
3 To do what is upright and just is more pleasing to Yahweh than sacrifice.	3 L'esercitare la misericordia, e la giustizia, è più gradito al Signore, che le vittime.
4 Haughty eye, proud heart, lamp of the wicked, nothing but sin.	4 La gonfiezza del cuore fa altiero lo sguardo: la felicità degli empj egli è il peccato.
5 The hardworking is thoughtful, and al is gain; too much haste, and all that comes of it is want.	5 I pensieri dell'uomo forte conducono sempre all'abbondanza: i pigri poi sono tutti sempre in miseria.
6 To make a fortune with the help of a lying tongue: such is the idle fantasy of those who look for death.	6 Chi ammassa ricchezze colle bugie della sua lingua, è stolto, e privo di mente, e caderà nei lacci di morte.
7 The violence of the wicked proves their ruin, for they refuse to do what is right.	7 Le rapine degli empj li tireranno a basso, perché non hanno voluto fare quello, che è giusto.
8 The way of the felon is devious, the conduct of the innocent straight.	8 La via dell'uomo perverso è disordinata: ma se l'uomo è puro, le opere di lui sono rette.
9 Better the corner of a roof to live on than a house shared with a quarrelsome woman.	9 E meglio il sedere in un angolo del solaio, che in una medesima casa con una moglie, che contende.
10 The soul of the wicked is intent on evil, to such a person no neighbour can ever do right.	10 L'anima dell'empio desidera il male; egli non avrà compassione del suo prossimo.
11 When a cynic is punished, simpletons grow wiser, but someone of understanding acquires knowledgeby instruction.	11 Punito che sia l'uomo di mal esempio, il semplice si farà più saggio, e se frequenterà l'uomo sapiente, farà acquisto di scienza.
12 The Upright One watches the house of the wicked; he hurls the wicked to destruction.	12 Il giusto si prende pensiero della casa dell'empio, per ritrarre gli empj dal male.
13 Whoever refuses to listen to the cry of the weak, wil in turn plead and not be heard.	13 Chi chiude le sue orecchie alle strida del povero, striderà anch' egli senz' essere esaudito.
14 Anger is mol ified by a covert gift, raging fury by a present under cover of the cloak.	14 Un regalo segreto ammorza l'ire, e un dono messo in seno, calma lo sdegno più grande.
15 Doing what is right fills the upright with joy, but evil-doers with terror.	15 Il gaudio del giusto sta nel praticare la giustizia: quelli che operano l'iniquità, stanno in paura.
16 Whoever strays far from the way of prudence wil rest in the assembly of shadows.	16 L'uomo che va lungi dalla via della dottrina anderà a stare co' giganti.
17 Pleasure-lovers stay poor, no one wil grow rich who loves wine and good living.	17 Chi ama di banchettare, diventerà mendico, e chi ama il vino, e i buoni, bocconi, non arricchirà.
18 The wicked is a ransom for the upright; and the law-breaker for the honest.	18 L'empio è dato (in espiazione) pel giusto, e l'iniquo per gli uomini dabbene.
19 Better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and irritable woman.	19 E meglio l'abitare in una terra deserta, che con una donna inquieta, e iraconda.
20 The wise has valuables and oil at home, but a fool soon runs through both.	20 Un tesoro desiderabile, e copioso è nella casa del giusto: ma un uomo senza prudenza lo dissiperà.
21 Whoever pursues uprightness and faithful love will find life, uprightness and honour.	21 Chi esercita la giustizia, e la misericordia, troverà vita, giustizia, e gloria.
22 A sage can scale a garrisoned city and shatter the rampart on which it relied.	22 Un saggio ha espugnata la città piena di guerrieri, ed ha distrutte le forse, nelle quali ella aveva fidanza,
23 Watch kept over mouth and tongue keeps the watcher safe from disaster.	23 Chi custodisce la sua bocca, e la sua lingua, custodisce l'anima sua dagli affanni.
24 Insolent, haughty -- the name is 'Cynic'; overweening pride marks such behaviour.	24 Il superbo, e l'arrogante sarà chiamato stolto, mentre per ira opera con superbia.
25 The idler's desires are the death of him, since his hands wil do no work.	25 I desiderj uccidono il pigro: perchè le mani di lui non han voluto far nulla:
26 Al day long the godless is racked by desire, the upright gives without ever refusing.	26 Egli tutto il giorno non fa altro, che desiderare, e appetire: ma il giusto dona, né mai si sta.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent, above al if it is offered for bad motives.	27 Sono in abbominazione le vittime degli empj, perché sono frutto di iniquità.
28 The false witness wil perish, but no one who knows how to listen wil ever be silenced.	28 Il testimone bugiardo perirà: l'uomo ubbidiente canterà la vittoria.
29 The wicked man's strength shows on his face, but the honest it is whose steps are firm.	29 L'empio senza pudore fa faccia tosta: ma l'uomo dabbene corregge i suoi andamenti.
30 No wisdom, no understanding, no advice is worth anything before Yahweh.	30 Non è sapienza, non è prudenza, non è consiglio che vaglia contro il Signore.
31 Fit out the cavalry for the day of battle, but the victory is Yahweh's.	31 Si mettono in punto i cavalli pel giorno della battaglia; ma il Signore è quegli, che da salute.
