1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise child is a father's joy, a foolish child a mother's grief.	1 משלי שלמה בן חכם ישמח אב ובן כסיל תוגת אמו
2 Treasures wickedly come by give no benefit, but uprightness brings delivery from death.	2 לא יועילו אוצרות רשע וצדקה תציל ממות
3 Yahweh does not let the upright go hungry, but he thwarts the greed of the wicked.	3 לא ירעיב יהוה נפש צדיק והות רשעים יהדף
4 A slack hand brings poverty, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.	4 ראש עשה כף רמיה ויד חרוצים תעשיר
5 Reaping at harvest-time is the mark of the prudent, sleeping at harvest-time is the sign of theworthless.	5 אגר בקיץ בן משכיל נרדם בקציר בן מביש
6 Blessings are on the head of the upright, but the mouth of the godless is a cover for violence.	6 ברכות לראש צדיק ופי רשעים יכסה חמס
7 The upright is remembered with blessings, the name of the wicked rots away.	7 זכר צדיק לברכה ושם רשעים ירקב
8 The wise of heart takes orders, but a gabbling fool heads for ruin.	8 חכם לב יקח מצות ואויל שפתים ילבט
9 Anyone whose ways are honourable walks secure, but whoever fol ows crooked ways is soonunmasked.	9 הולך בתם ילך בטח ומעקש דרכיו יודע
10 A wink of the eye brings trouble, a bold rebuke brings peace.	10 קרץ עין יתן עצבת ואויל שפתים ילבט
11 The mouth of the upright is a life-giving fountain, but the mouth of the godless is a cover for violence.	11 מקור חיים פי צדיק ופי רשעים יכסה חמס
12 Hatred provokes disputes, but love excuses al offences.	12 שנאה תעורר מדנים ועל כל פשעים תכסה אהבה
13 On the lips of the discerning is found wisdom, on the back of a fool, the stick.	13 בשפתי נבון תמצא חכמה ושבט לגו חסר לב
14 Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool makes ruin imminent.	14 חכמים יצפנו דעת ופי אויל מחתה קרבה
15 The wealth of the rich is their stronghold, poverty is the undoing of the weak.	15 הון עשיר קרית עזו מחתת דלים רישם
16 The wage of the upright affords life, but sin is al the wicked earns.	16 פעלת צדיק לחיים תבואת רשע לחטאת
17 Whoever abides by discipline, walks towards life, whoever ignores correction goes astray.	17 ארח לחיים שומר מוסר ועוזב תוכחת מתעה
18 Liars' lips are a cover for hatred, whoever utters slander is a fool.	18 מכסה שנאה שפתי שקר ומוצא דבה הוא כסיל
19 A flood of words is never without fault; whoever controls the lips is wise.	19 ברב דברים לא יחדל פשע וחשך שפתיו משכיל
20 The tongue of the upright is purest silver, the heart of the wicked is of trumpery value.	20 כסף נבחר לשון צדיק לב רשעים כמעט
21 The lips of the upright nourish many peoples, but fools die for want of sense.	21 שפתי צדיק ירעו רבים ואוילים בחסר לב ימותו
22 The blessing of Yahweh is what brings riches, to this, hard toil has nothing to add.	22 ברכת יהוה היא תעשיר ולא יוסף עצב עמה
23 A fool takes pleasure in doing wrong, the intel igent in cultivating wisdom.	23 כשחוק לכסיל עשות זמה וחכמה לאיש תבונה
24 What the wicked fears overtakes him, what the upright desires comes to him as a present.	24 מגורת רשע היא תבואנו ותאות צדיקים יתן
25 When the storm is over, the wicked is no more, but the upright stands firm for ever.	25 כעבור סופה ואין רשע וצדיק יסוד עולם
26 As vinegar to the teeth, smoke to the eyes, so the sluggard to the one who sends him.	26 כחמץ לשנים וכעשן לעינים כן העצל לשלחיו
27 The fear of Yahweh adds length to life, the years of the wicked wil be cut short.	27 יראת יהוה תוסיף ימים ושנות רשעים תקצרנה
28 The hope of the upright is joy, the expectations of the wicked come to nothing.	28 תוחלת צדיקים שמחה ותקות רשעים תאבד
29 The way of Yahweh is a rampart for the honest, for evil-doers nothing but ruin.	29 מעוז לתם דרך יהוה ומחתה לפעלי און
30 The upright wil never have to give way, but the land wil offer no home for the wicked.	30 צדיק לעולם בל ימוט ורשעים לא ישכנו ארץ
31 The mouth of the upright utters wisdom, the tongue that deceives wil be cut off.	31 פי צדיק ינוב חכמה ולשון תהפכות תכרת
