1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise child is a father's joy, a foolish child a mother's grief.	1 A bölcs fiú öröme atyjának, a balga fiú pedig búbánata anyjának.
2 Treasures wickedly come by give no benefit, but uprightness brings delivery from death.	2 Igaztalan kincsek semmit sem érnek, a becsületesség ellenben megment a haláltól.
3 Yahweh does not let the upright go hungry, but he thwarts the greed of the wicked.	3 Nem engedi az Úr az igaz lelkét éhezni, de elveti a gonoszok kívánságát.
4 A slack hand brings poverty, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.	4 A lassú kéz szegénnyé tesz, a szorgosak keze azonban gazdagságot szerez. Aki hazugságra támaszkodik, szelet legeltet, és repdeső madarat kerget.
5 Reaping at harvest-time is the mark of the prudent, sleeping at harvest-time is the sign of theworthless.	5 Okos az az ember, aki aratáskor gyűjt, de szégyent vall, aki nyáron alszik.

12 Hatred provokes disputes, but love excuses al offences.	12 A gyűlölködés civódást szít, a szeretet pedig minden hibát befed.
13 On the lips of the discerning is found wisdom, on the back of a fool, the stick.	13 Az értelmes ajkán bölcsességet találsz, ám vessző való az esztelen hátának!
14 Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool makes ruin imminent.	14 A bölcsek elrejtik tudásukat, az ostoba szája azonban közel van a szégyenvalláshoz.
15 The wealth of the rich is their stronghold, poverty is the undoing of the weak.	15 Erős város a vagyon a gazdagnak, a szűkölködés pedig romlás a szegénynek.
16 The wage of the upright affords life, but sin is al the wicked earns.	16 Az igaz szerzeménye életre szolgál, a gonosz jövedelme pedig bűnre.
17 Whoever abides by discipline, walks towards life, whoever ignores correction goes astray.	17 Az élet útján halad, aki megszívleli az intést, aki megveti a korholást, eltéved.
18 Liars' lips are a cover for hatred, whoever utters slander is a fool.	18 A hazug ajkak gyűlöletet takarnak, aki rágalmat szór, az ostoba.

22 The blessing of Yahweh is what brings riches, to this, hard toil has nothing to add.	22 Az Úr áldása gazdagságot szerez, és nem jár azzal együtt a nyomorúság.
23 A fool takes pleasure in doing wrong, the intel igent in cultivating wisdom.	23 A dőre a bűnözést nézi mulatságnak, az értelmes férfi pedig a bölcsességet.
24 What the wicked fears overtakes him, what the upright desires comes to him as a present.	24 A gonoszt utoléri, amitől retteg, az igazak pedig azt kapják, amire vágynak.

30 The upright wil never have to give way, but the land wil offer no home for the wicked.	30 Az igaz meg nem inog sohasem, a gonoszoknak pedig nincs a földön maradásuk.
31 The mouth of the upright utters wisdom, the tongue that deceives wil be cut off.	31 Bölcsesség sarjad az igaz szájából, a gonoszok nyelve pedig tönkremegy.
32 The lips of the upright know about kindness, the mouth of the wicked about deceit.	32 Az igaznak ajka azt tudja, ami kedves, a gonosz szája pedig azt, ami romlott.
